The 2025 edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2025) has ignited with a banger of a match. The defending champion Dindigul Dragons (DD) got a cruising win chasing a competitive score against Kovai Kings (LKK) at SNR College Cricket Ground on June 5. Shivam Singh again played a stormy innings to successfully take Dragons to the finish line. 

Toss and the first innings

After winning the toss, DD skipper Ravichandran Ashwin decided to announce his decision to chase the total in the second innings, so LKK went to bat first. Kings had an underwhelming performance at the start, then tried to tilt the momentum with the help of Sachin B. (51) and Andre Siddarth (25). These two batters stabilized Kings' momentum for a while, followed by the skipper Shahrukh Khan's quick 25. Apart from these 3 batters, other players in the lineup are able to contribute with short innings. Thus, in 20 overs, Kings got 149 for 8. Sandeep Warrier, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ganeshan Periyaswamy claimed 2 wickets each. 

Second innings

Despite losing Ashwin as the opener early, Shivam Singh, with a ruthless manner, continuously scored runs. He remained unbeaten for 82 off 50 with five 4s and five 6s. From LKK, Govinth G became the most expensive bowler of the night with a 20.25 economy rate in 1.2 overs. He was the impact player for LKK. DD won the match by 7 wickets and 16 balls to spare.
