After the defeat in the opening T20I clash between West Indies and Pakistan at the Centra Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida, the pressure was immense on the Caribbean side to make a strong comeback to keep the series alive. It’s noteworthy that they lost their last eight games at home against Australia in the longest and shortest formats of the game.

The Shai Hope-led side made a strong comeback in the fixture with a two-wicket victory. However, it was a memorable clash for Jason Holder, the former captain, who scripted a new record in the T20Is for the Caribbean team. The Barbados-born went past Dwayne Bravo to become the new leading wicket-taker of the West Indies side in the shortest format with 81 scalps.

Bravo finished with 78 wickets in 77 innings during his tenure at an average of 26.10 and a strike rate of 19.29 with an economy rate of just over eight. Holder now has bagged 81 T20I scalps in 71 innings at an average of nearly 30 and an economy rate of under nine.

Batting first, the visitors put 133/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Both openers had a poor and silent game with the bat as Fakhar Zaman struggled for his 20 runs in 19 balls at number three. Hasan Nawaz smashed 40 runs in 23 balls with the help of one boundary and four sixes at a strike rate of 173.91. Holder finished with figures of 4/19 in four overs.

West Indies kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the chase, as the skipper had the hardest time in the middle for his 21 runs in 30 balls. Gudakesh Motie got 28 runs in 20 balls, but the pressure was on to chase the low score.

Again, it was Holder, who creamed a boundary on the last delivery of the second innings to remain unbeaten on 16 runs in 10 balls and shoulder them over the line by two wickets. The third fixture of the series will take place in less than 24 hours.

Jaw-dropping news has arrived regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) decide to part ways with their head coach, Chandrakant Pandit, as the official website of the franchise has revealed in a social media post. Moreover, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to sign a new bowling coach.

The five-time champions, who had a poor time in 2025, finishing at the bottom of the points table, are set to hire the former bowling coach of India, Bharat Arun, who will work with the current captain and coach, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Stephen Fleming, respectively. The reports have claimed that Arun will join the franchise and work with MS Dhoni in the development of the bowlers.

It was a very average season with the ball for the Super Kings, who couldn’t do well either in the power play, middle overs, or the death overs. Matheesha Pathairana, the young Sri Lankan pacer, didn’t have an impressive season with the ball, which saw the joint-successful team fluster in crunch situations. Even MS Dhoni’s magic in leadership couldn’t save them from the issue.

IPL 2026: Chandrakant Pandit leaves KKR as CSK to hire Bharat Arun

‘Mr. Chandrakant Pandit has decided to explore new opportunities and will not continue as the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders. We are thankful for his invaluable contributions- including leading KKR to the TATA IPL Championship in 2024 and helping build a strong, resilient squad. His leadership and discipline have left a lasting impact on the team.’ KKR released a statement.

Under the head coach with the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir, Kolkata became the champions of the IPL 2024 in the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. But after Iyer departed from the side and Gambhir became the India head coach, the side received a huge blow as they had to make Ajinkya Rahane their new leader.

Apart from Pandit, the reports have also stated that their bowling coach, Dwayne Bravo, is also set to leave the franchise before the new season. Bravo, apart from IPL, is also the bowling consultant of the KKR franchise in the MLC for the Los Angeles Knight Riders.

<![CDATA[[WATCH] Dwayne Bravo opines about MS Dhoni's retirement on camera]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/dwayne-bravo-opines-about-ms-dhoni-s-retirement-on-camera/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/dwayne-bravo-opines-about-ms-dhoni-s-retirement-on-camera/ Sun, 27 Jul 2025 13:58:44 GMT

Dwayne Bravo openly expressed his views over Mahendra Singh Dhoni's IPL career. Dhoni, now 44, participated in IPL 2025 with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Cricket fans are still speculating about his possible retirement from franchise cricket as well. Like before, the former India captain did not reveal his plans about hanging up his gloves and pads.

By the next year's IPL, Dhoni will be approaching his 45th birthday. In a recent interview, Dhoni's former CSK teammate and former West Indies international Dwayne Bravo opened up about MSD's retirement from IPL. Bravo clearly said that he, or the CSK franchise, is not bothered about the keeper-batter's retirement; the speculations are mainly from some people. The former all-rounder believes Dhoni still is the best among all the wicketkeepers in the Indian Premier League.

"CSK management isn't worried about Dhoni's retirement; it's other people who are concerned, and that baffles me. He's still the best WK in the IPL," Bravo said during the interview.

The brand value of MS Dhoni is unmatchable

The former T20I World Cup felt that the decision of retirement completely lies with Dhoni himself. He believes if Dhoni thinks he has nothing more to contribute, he'll walk off. Bravo highlighted the brand value the former India skipper offers on the table.

"He'll walk away whenever he thinks he can't contribute enough. MSD, the name and brand, is more important than anything else," Bravo added.

MS Dhoni played 14 IPL 2025 matches for the Chennai Super Kings and was the leader of the team to replace their injured captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad. Dhoni, who won 5 IPL titles with CSK as the skipper, scored 196 runs with an average of 24.50. He had to endure repeated criticism because of his batting, but he was lightning fast behind the stumps like before.

The Caribbean stars are ready to shine once again, and the Champions from the West Indies have put together a squad that will bring sparks and flair to the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. The tournament will see the clay played over four iconic grounds across the UK—Edgbaston, County Ground Northampton, Grace Road Leicester, and Headingley—between July 18 and August 2. Sanctioned by the ECB, WCL returns retired legends to the pitch in a competitive T20 format.

Leading the powerhouse team are destructive batsmen Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Dwayne Bravo, whose big-hitting used to intimidate bowling sides. Supported by erstwhile match-winners Lendl Simmons and Dwayne Smith, they bring aggression up the order. The pace attack has been bolstered with the blistering quicks Fidel Edwards, Shannon Gabriel, and Sheldon Cottrell, who will provide raw speed and consistent bounce.
Regarding spin, they have added Ashley Nurse, Sulieman Benn, Nikita Miller, and Dave Mohammed, who are clever operators providing lots of control and variety. In the midst of all the flair, Shivnarine Chanderpaul brings calm, composure, and precious experience. Rounding out the blend are Chadwick Walton, William Perkins, and Tharindu Rathnayake, making up a flawlessly balanced team that fuses flair, grit, and championship bloodlines

WCL 2025 guarantees high-octane nostalgia, top-of-the-line cricketing prowess, and capacity crowds as six champion sides—including India Champions, Pakistan Champions, Australia Champions, South Africa Champions, England Champions, and now the West Indies Champions—face off against each other in a heart-stopping round-robin format, culminating in knockout encounters. With India winning the first WCL trophy under the captaincy of Yuvraj Singh in 2024, the second edition is anyone's game—and the Caribbean legends are back to strength.

<![CDATA[Unmukt Chand should be considered for selection for USA national team :Dwayne Bravo ]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/unmukt-chand-should-be-considered-for-selection-for-usa-national-team-dwayne-bravo/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/unmukt-chand-should-be-considered-for-selection-for-usa-national-team-dwayne-bravo/ Tue, 24 Jun 2025 15:49:21 GMT

Dwayne Bravo recently requested the USA Cricket Board to include Unmukt Chand in the USA national side. He stated that the former India Under-19 World Cup-winning captain shouldn't be victimised due to politics.

The 32-year-old left India for the USA in the hope of getting playing opportunities in the USA national team. Since moving to the USA, Unmukt Chand has so far not made his debut for the USA national team and has been overlooked by the selectors, which is surprising.

Unmukt Chand is currently playing for the Los Angeles Knight Riders team in the Major League Cricket (MLC). Currently, Bravo is the head coach of the Los Angeles team. He stated in his Instagram post: "This guy needs to be in the USA cricket team! Cricket is bigger than politics; let's do right for these players. Well done!."

Bravo commented on Unmukt Chand after the right-hander scored a brilliant 86 in 56 balls against Seattle Orcas on the 22nd of June during the MLC game. The right-hander has looked in decent form during the 2025 MLC season so far, scoring 161 runs in 4 innings with a strike rate of 134.16.

Unmukt Chand on his exclusion from the USA national team during the 2024 T20 World Cup

The 32-year-old stated that he was surprised after not being included in the USA team for the T20 World Cup. The right-hander had stated (through Cricbuzz) in a press conference last year that he had worked hard for the last 3 years for the mega event. Unmukt Chand also played for Mumbai Indians in the 2015 IPL season helping the team win the trophy, scoring 300 runs in 15 games.

"That wasn't an ideal situation to be in. Because personally, for me, this was what I had dreamed of for the last three years. Obviously, it was a big shock. And it took me time to sort of come to terms with it. It's never easy as a player, having lost all these things back home in India, to having this one goal, which had kept me going for the last three years not happening. So it is difficult. I won't say which just happened. But it was difficult. I was not my best self for some time," Chand said.

<![CDATA[CPL 2025: Dwayne Bravo appointed head coach of TKR, replaces Phil Simmons]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/cpl-2025-dwayne-bravo-appointed-head-coach-of-tkr-replaces-phil-simmons/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/cpl-2025-dwayne-bravo-appointed-head-coach-of-tkr-replaces-phil-simmons/ Thu, 19 Jun 2025 13:55:04 GMT

Trinbago Knight Riders have appointed West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo as their new head coach for the CPL 2025 season. Team manager Colin Borde confirmed the news, which is a big change in the coaching configuration for the four-time champions. Bravo will take over from former West Indies coach Phil Simmons, who had joined the franchise in 2023.

This new role adds to Bravo’s growing coaching portfolio, as he is already the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) head coach in the ILT20 and the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) head coach in Major League Cricket.
Being promoted to TKR head coach is viewed as a tactical initiative to introduce continuity across Knight Riders' global operations, given Bravo’s deep involvement with the brand.

One of the most successful CPL players, Bravo offers a lifetime of experience, leadership, and a winning mindset to the job. The appointment is likely to galvanize the TKR setup, particularly with a few young players on the team eager to make a statement in the next season.

The Caribbean stars are back in action and ready to light up the cricketing world. The resurfacing of these power hitters promises fireworks and flair as they prepare for a throwback tournament.

Headlining the squad are explosive bats Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Dwayne Bravo—names that once inspired terror in bowlers around the world. They are joined by old hands like Dwayne Smith and Lendl Simmons, both aggressive batsmen. Firebrand quicks like Fidel Edwards, Shannon Gabriel, and Sheldon Cottrell form the pace battery, delivering a balanced and deadly bowling unit to the mix.

The spin attack is also intimidating, with the inclusion of Ashley Nurse, Sulieman Benn, Nikita Miller, and Dave Mohammad. And through all the power and aggression, there is the calm head of Shivnarine Chanderpaul to provide experience and composure. With the inclusion of Chadwick Walton, Williams Perkins, and Tharindu Rathnayake providing more balance, the West Indies Champions appear set to make a huge impact.

Tournament Set for July 18–August 2 Across England

The second WCL is to be hosted over four English grounds—Edgbaston, County Ground Northampton, Grace Road Leicester, and Headingley in Leeds. Starting on July 18 and ending with the final on August 2 at Edgbaston, the tournament offers a treat of storied cricket.

The next edition is open as wide as it can be now that India won the first trophy in 2024 under Yuvraj Singh's captaincy—particularly with the Caribbean greats back to full strength.

Dwayne Bravo, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL 2025 mentor, posted a thrilling video on May 14, 2025, showing the arrival of West Indian players in India for the current tournament. The video, uploaded on Bravo's social media, shows Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Romario Shepherd, who arrived in India to play for their respective IPL teams. The IPL, which was suspended for a week following geopolitical tension before resuming on May 17, had the Caribbean stars joining it, adding another level of excitement to the league as it enters its decisive phase.

The camaraderie between the West Indian trio is brought out in the video, with Narine (KKR), Russell (KKR), and Shepherd (RCB) traveling together, reflecting their excitement about the IPL. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans, especially, welcomed Shepherd's arrival, as his addition bolsters their team, which is currently 2nd with 16 points from 11 games. Shepherd's participation, however, could be curtailed by England's ODI series against the West Indies, which conflicts with the latter part of the IPL, including the playoffs.

A Boost to IPL Teams

Shepherd's addition is a huge fillip for RCB, who signed him for INR 1.5 crore prior to the 2025 season. His all-round ability, with a T20I batting strike rate of close to 140 and a bowling average of less than 28, brings depth to RCB's lineup as they chase their maiden IPL title. Narine and Russell's inclusion strengthens KKR, even though they are 6th-placed with 11 points from 12 games.

The West Indian players' arrival has generated hope among fans, with the IPL to gain from their panache. But their availability is a cause of concern because of international obligations, putting franchises' depth to the test as the tournament moves closer to the June 3 final.

Cricket fans are buzzing with excitement as the dates for Cayman Max 60 Season 2 have finally dropped, promising another unforgettable week of action on the stunning Grand Cayman Islands! Running from May 24th to May 31st, 2025, this high-energy T20 tournament is gearing up to light up the Caribbean with its fast-paced matches and warm island vibes. After the heart-pounding success of Season 1, where the Cayman Cougars stole the show with a thrilling win over the Cayman Titans—thanks to David Warner and Dwayne Bravo’s magic—it’s time for a new chapter that feels both familiar and a bit mysterious.

There’s a twist this year that’s got everyone chatting:

Only five teams will take the field, even though six were part of the draft. Last year, we had six squads battling it out, with the Cougars lifting the trophy after a nail-biter, cheered on by local hero Courtney Myles and a crowd of over 15,000. This time, we’ll see the defending champ Caribbean Noods, the gritty Scorchers, the bold Trailblazers, the spirited Stingrays, and the fresh-faced Vegas. But where’s that sixth team? Fans are scratching their heads, wondering if it’s a logistical hiccup or a clever tweak by the organizers to keep things tight and exciting.

The action will unfold at the cozy Jimmy Powell Oval in West Bay, where the shorter 10-over format means every ball feels like a heartbeat. With Season 1’s electric atmosphere still fresh—complete with fan zones and VIP perks—the organizers are promising upgrades to make this even better. The missing team has sparked some worry, but the lineup of stars and local talent should keep the energy high. As May nears, we’re all rooting for the Cougars to defend their crown or a new hero to rise—here’s hoping this cozy five-team showdown delivers the same joy!

Eager Fans Await a Cozy yet Thrilling Showdown

With the draft done, the five teams are buzzing with anticipation. The Cayman Cougars, our champs, are hungry to repeat, while the Titans and Gladiators are itching to upset them. The Hurricanes and new Cayman Storm bring fresh faces, likely mixing global stars with Cayman’s rising stars. That 10-over dash promises edge-of-the-seat moments—think Bravo’s clutch over from last year! Fans hope the smaller lineup won’t dim the excitement, and with upgrades in the works, we’re all set for a heartfelt, action-packed week.
