Fielding is undoubtedly one of the important aspects in T20 Cricket. A brilliant catch can turn the game on its head and decide the outcome of a particular match. Since the format was introduced about two decades ago, the format has witnessed changes in all departments. Fielding has become one of the prime factors.

T20 cricket has witnessed some of the finest fielders who have showcased their class with some class fielding and outstanding catching abilities. In this piece, we discuss five players who have taken the highest catches in the shorter format. Although their fielding techniques have varied but they have been effective for the sides they have represented. We discuss these players in detail:

1.Kieron Pollard (386 catches in 700 T20 games)-

The Burly Trinidadian has taken some brilliant catches in the outfield. The 38-year-old played for different franchises in T20 tournaments globally. Pollard took 386 catches in 700 T20 games in his career. Like his destructive batting, the former West Indian all-rounder was a sharp fielder in the deep with his catching. Pollard's reach allows him to time his jump perfectly while taking catches at the boundary. He can be a reliable fielding option in all fielding positions

2.David Miller (318 catches in 530 T20 games)-

Miller showcased tremendous intensity on the field with his ability to take difficult catches inside the ring as well as at the boundary. The South African left-hander has taken 318 catches in 530 T20 games. Miller has shown his prowess with his hard shitting batting but as a well fielder the 36 year old is lighting quick. Miller has taken some brilliant catches while fielding at the point and cover area.

3.Dwayne Bravo (275 catches in 582 T20 games)-

Another Trinidadian who has showcased outstanding fitness as a fielder, setting high standards on the field. The 41-year-old former West Indian all-rounder has taken 275 catches in 582 T20 games with his lightning-quick fielding. Bravo's ability to anticipate and time his jump perfectly is simply amazing.

Bravo has played for different franchises globally in different T20 tournaments, where he has plucked some glorious catches. His ability to attempt a catch at backwards point, short third man and cover is amazing. Bravo has a rocket arm through which he can execute powerful throws. He can also field at gully and slips.

The Caribbean stars are ready to shine once again, and the Champions from the West Indies have put together a squad that will bring sparks and flair to the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. The tournament will see the clay played over four iconic grounds across the UK—Edgbaston, County Ground Northampton, Grace Road Leicester, and Headingley—between July 18 and August 2. Sanctioned by the ECB, WCL returns retired legends to the pitch in a competitive T20 format.

Leading the powerhouse team are destructive batsmen Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Dwayne Bravo, whose big-hitting used to intimidate bowling sides. Supported by erstwhile match-winners Lendl Simmons and Dwayne Smith, they bring aggression up the order. The pace attack has been bolstered with the blistering quicks Fidel Edwards, Shannon Gabriel, and Sheldon Cottrell, who will provide raw speed and consistent bounce.
Regarding spin, they have added Ashley Nurse, Sulieman Benn, Nikita Miller, and Dave Mohammed, who are clever operators providing lots of control and variety. In the midst of all the flair, Shivnarine Chanderpaul brings calm, composure, and precious experience. Rounding out the blend are Chadwick Walton, William Perkins, and Tharindu Rathnayake, making up a flawlessly balanced team that fuses flair, grit, and championship bloodlines

WCL 2025 guarantees high-octane nostalgia, top-of-the-line cricketing prowess, and capacity crowds as six champion sides—including India Champions, Pakistan Champions, Australia Champions, South Africa Champions, England Champions, and now the West Indies Champions—face off against each other in a heart-stopping round-robin format, culminating in knockout encounters. With India winning the first WCL trophy under the captaincy of Yuvraj Singh in 2024, the second edition is anyone's game—and the Caribbean legends are back to strength.

<![CDATA[Unmukt Chand should be considered for selection for USA national team :Dwayne Bravo ]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/unmukt-chand-should-be-considered-for-selection-for-usa-national-team-dwayne-bravo/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/unmukt-chand-should-be-considered-for-selection-for-usa-national-team-dwayne-bravo/ Tue, 24 Jun 2025 15:49:21 GMT

Dwayne Bravo recently requested the USA Cricket Board to include Unmukt Chand in the USA national side. He stated that the former India Under-19 World Cup-winning captain shouldn't be victimised due to politics.

The 32-year-old left India for the USA in the hope of getting playing opportunities in the USA national team. Since moving to the USA, Unmukt Chand has so far not made his debut for the USA national team and has been overlooked by the selectors, which is surprising.

Unmukt Chand is currently playing for the Los Angeles Knight Riders team in the Major League Cricket (MLC). Currently, Bravo is the head coach of the Los Angeles team. He stated in his Instagram post: "This guy needs to be in the USA cricket team! Cricket is bigger than politics; let's do right for these players. Well done!."

Bravo commented on Unmukt Chand after the right-hander scored a brilliant 86 in 56 balls against Seattle Orcas on the 22nd of June during the MLC game. The right-hander has looked in decent form during the 2025 MLC season so far, scoring 161 runs in 4 innings with a strike rate of 134.16.

Unmukt Chand on his exclusion from the USA national team during the 2024 T20 World Cup

The 32-year-old stated that he was surprised after not being included in the USA team for the T20 World Cup. The right-hander had stated (through Cricbuzz) in a press conference last year that he had worked hard for the last 3 years for the mega event. Unmukt Chand also played for Mumbai Indians in the 2015 IPL season helping the team win the trophy, scoring 300 runs in 15 games.

"That wasn't an ideal situation to be in. Because personally, for me, this was what I had dreamed of for the last three years. Obviously, it was a big shock. And it took me time to sort of come to terms with it. It's never easy as a player, having lost all these things back home in India, to having this one goal, which had kept me going for the last three years not happening. So it is difficult. I won't say which just happened. But it was difficult. I was not my best self for some time," Chand said.

Trinbago Knight Riders have appointed West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo as their new head coach for the CPL 2025 season. Team manager Colin Borde confirmed the news, which is a big change in the coaching configuration for the four-time champions. Bravo will take over from former West Indies coach Phil Simmons, who had joined the franchise in 2023.

This new role adds to Bravo’s growing coaching portfolio, as he is already the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) head coach in the ILT20 and the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) head coach in Major League Cricket.
Being promoted to TKR head coach is viewed as a tactical initiative to introduce continuity across Knight Riders' global operations, given Bravo’s deep involvement with the brand.

One of the most successful CPL players, Bravo offers a lifetime of experience, leadership, and a winning mindset to the job. The appointment is likely to galvanize the TKR setup, particularly with a few young players on the team eager to make a statement in the next season.

The spin attack is also intimidating, with the inclusion of Ashley Nurse, Sulieman Benn, Nikita Miller, and Dave Mohammad. And through all the power and aggression, there is the calm head of Shivnarine Chanderpaul to provide experience and composure. With the inclusion of Chadwick Walton, Williams Perkins, and Tharindu Rathnayake providing more balance, the West Indies Champions appear set to make a huge impact.

Tournament Set for July 18–August 2 Across England

Dwayne Bravo, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL 2025 mentor, posted a thrilling video on May 14, 2025, showing the arrival of West Indian players in India for the current tournament. The video, uploaded on Bravo's social media, shows Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Romario Shepherd, who arrived in India to play for their respective IPL teams. The IPL, which was suspended for a week following geopolitical tension before resuming on May 17, had the Caribbean stars joining it, adding another level of excitement to the league as it enters its decisive phase.

The camaraderie between the West Indian trio is brought out in the video, with Narine (KKR), Russell (KKR), and Shepherd (RCB) traveling together, reflecting their excitement about the IPL. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans, especially, welcomed Shepherd's arrival, as his addition bolsters their team, which is currently 2nd with 16 points from 11 games. Shepherd's participation, however, could be curtailed by England's ODI series against the West Indies, which conflicts with the latter part of the IPL, including the playoffs.

A Boost to IPL Teams

Shepherd's addition is a huge fillip for RCB, who signed him for INR 1.5 crore prior to the 2025 season. His all-round ability, with a T20I batting strike rate of close to 140 and a bowling average of less than 28, brings depth to RCB's lineup as they chase their maiden IPL title. Narine and Russell's inclusion strengthens KKR, even though they are 6th-placed with 11 points from 12 games.

The Hurricanes and new Cayman Storm bring fresh faces, likely mixing global stars with Cayman’s rising stars. That 10-over dash promises edge-of-the-seat moments—think Bravo’s clutch over from last year! Fans hope the smaller lineup won’t dim the excitement, and with upgrades in the works, we’re all set for a heartfelt, action-packed week.

In an era of aggressive T20 cricket that constantly puts boundaries on tape and speeds up boundaries more often than not you have had one bowler who has stood tall and made an old soul Rashid Khan. Yes, he is more than just a leg-spinner who works magic on the ball and a revolutionary of spin bowling in this format.
A Journey of Hard Work

tales about Rashid Khan are about struggle and self-belief. Born in Afghanistan, if there were cricket brains in Kabul only 50 in number and those countries boasting of limited chance for the game was a struggle not to have an identity. The transformation from local to a T20 global superstar is nothing more than a fluke. The story he tells shows that if you are passionate, hardworking, and dedicated you can turn your dreams into reality.

A Record-Breaking Career

Rashid is definitely the best-ever T20 bowler of all time. Holding 631 wickets in 460 matches he is synonymous to the game. I know I am special because it is not all about the number of wickets but how he gets them. His economy rate of 6.49 says it all, he is accurate as hell with the ball and that is very hard to find in a format where runs come at break neck speed.

With a bowling average of 18.08, Rashid is not simply another bowler who play in the way of runs, he has proven himself not only as a reliable 'ferocious' wicket source but also a partner breaker and match transformer in Test Cricket. Optimum getting the beat, deceptive googly and outthink batsmen make him one of the most dangerous spinners worldwide.

Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has concluded his illustrious journey with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a franchise with which he won four IPL titles. Bravo will now transition to a mentorship role at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from the 2025 season, marking the next chapter in his cricketing career.

Bravo bids farewell to CSK, joins KKR as mentor

Dwayne Bravo, who turns 41 in October, has officially joined KKR as a mentor for IPL 2025, replacing Gautam Gambhir, who recently took over as India’s head coach. This change follows Gambhir’s leadership in helping KKR secure their third IPL title. Bravo’s move was confirmed soon after his retirement from all forms of cricket, including T20 leagues, which he announced a day prior to his appointment.

The move comes after Bravo’s meeting with KKR CEO Venky Mysore during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where they finalized a long-term agreement. In addition to his role with KKR, Bravo will oversee all Knight Riders franchises in other T20 leagues, including Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC), and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20).

Venky Mysore expressed his excitement about Bravo’s arrival: “DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development. His relentless drive to win, along with his vast experience and deep knowledge, will greatly benefit our franchise and players.”

Bravo’s transition from player to coach

Dwayne Bravo, who was part of CSK’s iconic squad, enjoyed a successful stint with the franchise after joining them in 2011. He retired from playing in the IPL after the 2022 season but stayed with CSK, transitioning to their bowling coach for the 2023 season. His impact was immediate, as CSK clinched their fifth IPL title that year, defeating defending champions Gujarat Titans.

Bravo has an illustrious T20 career, being the third-highest wicket-taker in IPL history and the only player to win the Purple Cap twice. His experience in the game, especially as a death bowler, made him a crucial player and, later, an astute tactician.

“I’ve been part of Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate,” said Bravo. “This is the perfect platform for me as I transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players.”

Bravo’s coaching journey has been on a steady rise, with him recently serving as a consultant coach for Afghanistan during the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the team made history by reaching the semi-finals. With this next step at KKR, Bravo aims to share his expertise and guide players across the Knight Riders’ T20 franchises globally.
