East Delhi Riders Women just missed winning by 2 runs against North Delhi Strikers Women in Match 6 of the WDPL 2025. WEDR looked good to win when Aarna Dudeja scored a lovely half century but it turned out that late wickets and disciplined bowling took away the control of the game from them. The Strikers’ middle order took the game deep and the hard hitting at the death overs helped them win the game. Eventually, the Riders were at 116/4 in 17 overs and just 3 runs behind the target. Here are the top reasons why East Delhi Riders Women lost the match.

1. Exceptional middle-order resistance by NDS-W powered by Laxmi Yadav and Ayushi Soni

The Strikers bounced back from early losses with a key partnership between Ayushi Soni (40 off 31) and Laxmi Yadav (48* off 34). The made some vitally-run runs at a healthy run rate, to finish on a total of 118/5. This partnership swung momentum to NDS-W at the halfway mark.

2. Tight, disciplined bowling—especially Shivani Jangid at the death overs

The Strikers bowled very disciplined, particularly in the last few overs when pressure was required. The spell from Shivani Jangid (2/19) was huge, while Nazma Khan's 1/11 from three overs kept things tight. This bowling has slowed the Riders' run rate to bring pressure just when they needed to accelerate.

3. Pressure-induced misplays at the crease under crunch situations

Although Aarna Dudeja made 56, the Riders lost wickets at key moments. The run-out of Urvashi Gupta and the loss of Purva Siwach, in quick succession, shrunk their target. Those misplays, spawned from pressure, meant EDR-W lost the match in tight circumstances.

East Delhi Riders Women were defeated by Central Delhi Queens in Match 2 of the WDPL 2025 by 7 wickets. Batting first, the Riders were bowled out for 88 inside 16.4 overs, with only Priya Punia (22 off 19), Mayuri (15 off 24), and Vanshika Lila (15 off 8) making any contributions. The Queens’ bowlers were terrific, especially Nidhi Mahto, who took 5/20. In reply, the Queens chased down the target in 15 overs, thanks to Deeksha Sharma’s fluent 45 off 40 and Nishika Singh’s steady 22 off 24. Here are the key reasons why East Delhi Riders Women lost the match.

1. Top-order failure and lack of runs

The Riders’ batting order could not withstand the disciplined bowling of the Queens. Apart from Priya Punia’s brisk 22 off 19, the batting top order largely crumbled, and the side was in duress early. Without any batter crossing 25, the Riders’ innings never took flight, and they finished with a well below par score of 88.

2. Nidhi Mahto’s destructive spell

Central Delhi Queens were boosted by Nidhi Mahto’s exceptional bowling. She ripped through the Riders’ lineup, taking 5/20 in just 4 overs. Her strikes at regular intervals prevented any partnerships from forming, and this proved to be the game-changing factor.

3. Ineffective defense by Riders’ bowlers

Although Vanshika Lila (2/8) and Purva Siwach (1/13) were able to make breakthroughs, the Riders' bowlers did not have the penetration required. Deeksha Sharma's resolute 45 and Nishika Singh's 22 saw a comfortable chase. It was an impossible task, given that they did not build pressure or defend a small score.
