<![CDATA[PAK vs UAE: Fakhar Zaman hit Back-to-back five 4s in the last over]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/pak-vs-uae-fakhar-zaman-hit-back-to-back-five-4s-in-the-last-over/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/pak-vs-uae-fakhar-zaman-hit-back-to-back-five-4s-in-the-last-over/ Thu, 04 Sep 2025 23:33:13 GMT

Fakhar Zaman pushed the paddles at the right time when Pakistan needed it the most. In the 20th over of the first innings against the United Arab Emirates (PAK vs UAE), the Pakistan international smashed five boundaries in a row. Because of Zaman's flamboyant batting, Pakistan bounced back at Sharjah Cricket Stadium and registered a competitive total of 171 runs in 20 overs.

After winning the toss, Salman Ali Agha, the Pakistan skipper, chose to bat first. The decision could have proved disastrous if Zaman and Mohammad Nawaz were not able to fight back against UAE bowlers. Zaman and Nawaz put together a 91-run partnership against 51 deliveries. Pakistan were reduced to 80/5 at one stage before Mohammad Nawaz joined Fakhar. From there, they dragged the run wheel over 170.

In the last couple of overs of the first innings, they fetched 42 runs. In the 19th over, after two singles in the first two balls, Nawaz smacked three boundaries and an over-boundary. Zaman took up the batting standards to the next level to add 22 runs from the final six balls of the innings. After taking a double, the southpaw hit 5 consecutive fours. The nature of the surface was not appropriate to make strokes effortlessly. Zaman scored his fifty in 34 balls; in total, the middle-order batsman scored an unbeaten 77 off 44 with ten boundaries and a couple of over-boundaries. Fakhar walked in to the crease when Pakistan was 28/1 with Sahibzada Farhan getting dismissed.

A record breaking partnership

As per a report from Cricbuzz, the 91*-run stand between Fakhar and Nawaz is Pakistan's highest for the sixth wicket or lower in the format, surpassing 82 between Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan against South Africa in Sydney during the T20 WC 2022

Nawaz accumulated 37 runs against 27 deliveries with three boundaries and two sixes and remained not out.

<![CDATA[Top three players to watch from Pakistan ahead of Asia Cup 2025]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-analysis/top-three-players-to-watch-from-pakistan-ahead-of-asia-cup-2025/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-analysis/top-three-players-to-watch-from-pakistan-ahead-of-asia-cup-2025/ Wed, 03 Sep 2025 14:47:57 GMT

During the 2025 season of the Asia Cup, Pakistan will be without their two veteran batters, Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan. The former was the leader of the T20I side before he was dropped from the shortest format after their poor show in the previous T20 World Cup. The exact reason could be told for Rizwan, who, despite being their ODI captain, hasn’t been given a chance in the Asia Cup T20.

Pakistan is currently undergoing a tri-series against Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, which can be the best preparation for the Salman Ali Agha-led side. It will also be an acid test for the young captain and the newly appointed head coach, Mike Hesson, who had the team in Bangladesh for the T20I series.

Pakistan, on the back of their poor performance in the last T20 World Cup despite finishing as the runners-up of the penultimate edition, will look to develop a few spots in the side before the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. They will feature in those games in Sri Lanka.

Let’s take a look at the top 3 players to watch from Pakistan ahead of Asia Cup 2025

3. Fakhar Zaman

The left-handed opening batter of the Pakistan side, Fakhar Zaman, missed the Champions Trophy 2025 after receiving an injury during the opening clash against New Zealand in Karachi. And his absence could be seen easily in the Green Brigade’s opening position.

The southpaw has been equally successful in the shortest format. He has scored 2000 runs in 92 T20I innings at an average of 22.47 and a strike rate of 131.49, with 11 half-centuries at the best score of 91 runs. On the other hand, in 288 T20 innings, he drilled 7823 runs at an average of 28.14 and a strike rate of 135.48 with three centuries and 53 fifties.

Fakhar enjoyed a fine time in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 for the Lahore Qalandars as he pocketed 439 runs in 13 innings at an average of 33.76 and a strike rate of 152.96 with four fifties at the best score of 76 runs.

2. Shaheen Shah Afridi

Whenever it comes to picking wickets with the new ball inside the first six overs of the innings, Shaheen Shah Afridi has been the go-to bowler for Pakistan. His in-swinging delivery to Rohit Sharma in Dubai during the 2021 World Cup is still fresh and memorable to many fans of the country.

In 83 innings of the shortest format, he has picked up 106 wickets at an average of 22.29 and a strike rate of 17, with an economy rate of under eight, thanks to the best bowling figure of 4/22 in an innings. The left-arm pacer has also truck-loaded experience of bagging 314 T20 wickets in 225 innings at an average of 21.06 and an economy rate of under eight.

During the last PSL for Lahore, Afridi, who struggled to find the same swing and seam movement with the new ball, ended with 19 wickets in just 12 innings at an average of under 17 and a strike rate of 12.6 with an economy rate of 7.76. His best bowling figure for an inning was 3/3. In Babar and Rizwan’s absence, Afridi can mark him as the most experienced campaigner of the side.

1. Haris Rauf

Along with Afridi’s pace, Pakistan will aim to get the best form and touch of their expressive speedster, Haris Rauf, who can trouble the batters during the middle overs of the innings with his aggressive pace. When he is on song, it’s really hard to get the pacer off the radar. And that’s what the team management would hope.

Rauf, in 87 innings of the shortest format for Pakistan, has pocketed 124 wickets at an average of 21.30 and a strike rate of 15.3 with an economy rate of 8.34, thanks to the best bowling figure of 4/18 in an innings. Overall, in 244 T20 innings, the right-arm pacer has bagged 332 wickets at an average of 22.34 and a strike rate of 15.8 with an economy rate of 8.43.

During the recent season of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, he picked up 17 wickets in eight innings at an average of 15.05 at an economy rate of just over nine. In the PSL for the Qalandars, he bagged 17 wickets in 12 innings at a slightly expensive economy rate of 10.28.

Pakistan will begin their campaign of the Asia Cup 2025 against Oman on September 12 in Dubai before they face India two days later at the same venue. That game will be full of excitement on the back of the recent political relationship between the two neighboring countries.

<![CDATA[Star Pakistani Batter Ruled Out of West Indies Series with Hamstring Injury]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/star-pakistani-batter-ruled-out-of-west-indies-series-with-hamstring-injury/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/star-pakistani-batter-ruled-out-of-west-indies-series-with-hamstring-injury/ Mon, 04 Aug 2025 20:10:47 GMT

Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman will miss the rest of the West Indies tour due to a hamstring injury he suffered during the second T20I in Florida.

The top-order batsman is out of the third T20I and the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies after straining his left hamstring in Lauderhill. However, the three-match ODI series in Trinidad has also been canceled. On a positive note, Pakistan bounced back to win the third T20I by 13 runs, finishing the series 1-2.

Fakhar Suffers Hamstring Injury in Second T20I

Fakhar Zaman got injured while chasing a ball in the outfield during the 19th over of the second T20I in Florida. A medical check confirmed a mild strain in his left hamstring. The 35-year-old will return to Pakistan on August 4, where he will begin his rehabilitation under the supervision of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) medical team at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

His withdrawal from the ODI series comes at a tough time, as he has been struggling with both form and fitness in recent months. Against Bangladesh, he scored only 53 runs in three innings, and in the T20Is against the West Indies, he made 28 and 20 before the injury. With the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup approaching, Pakistan hopes to see him back in action soon.

The PCB has not yet confirmed if a replacement will be named for the three-match ODI series.

Replacement in Third T20I

Khushdil Shah replaced Fakhar in the playing XI for the third T20I, which Pakistan won by 13 runs in Florida on Sunday. Before getting injured, Fakhar had made promising starts in the first two T20Is but failed to convert them into big scores.

Ironically, Fakhar had been included in the squad as a replacement for Saim Ayub, who suffered a similar injury six weeks earlier in South Africa while chasing a ball to the boundary. Saim was sidelined for three months due to that injury.

<![CDATA[Star Pakistan player ruled out of WI vs PAK 2025 series with major injury]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/star-pakistan-player-ruled-out-of-wi-vs-pak-2025-series-with-major-injury/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/star-pakistan-player-ruled-out-of-wi-vs-pak-2025-series-with-major-injury/ Mon, 04 Aug 2025 09:16:11 GMT

Pakistan has faced a huge setback just after two T20Is in their Caribbean trip of the white-ball series, which also includes three one-day internationals. Their star opening batter, Fakhar Zaman, has been ruled out of the third T20I and the following three-match 50-over series against the West Indies after sustaining a left hamstring strain during the second fixture in Lauderhill.

Khusdil Shah replaced the left-handed opening batter in the playing eleven of the third encounter. Fakhar Zaman picked up the injury during the 19th over of the West Indies’ innings when he was chasing a ball in the outfield. He pulled up his hammy as the subsequent medical assessment by the team’s support staff confirmed a mild strain on his left hamstring.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that immediate treatment and the required initial management had already been provided to the player, who will now fly back home on August 04, the day after the end of the T20I series. His rehabilitation will continue under the supervision of the PCB medical side at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

Fakhar Zaman ruled out of Pakistan’s remainder of Caribbean trip with hamstring injury

The board is likely to name a replacement if there is a requirement for the 50-over squad. The opening batter got starts in both the opening games of the series at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida, but the issue was not to carry the momentum and kick on from there, having scores of 28 and 20.

The injury to the 35-year-old has now raised an uncanny issue among the selectors, who went through the same during the Champions Trophy earlier this year. On the second ball of the opening game, Zaman, looking to stop the cover drive, pulled up in discomfort before getting ruled out of the event the following day. Even at that time, Saim Ayub was also unavailable as he had injured himself while chasing a ball and spent three months on the sidelines.

The opening 50-over clash of the three-match series will begin on August 08 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.

<![CDATA[[WATCH] Comedy of errors as Fakhar Zaman shows anger after hilarious run-out against Bangladesh]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-comedy-of-errors-as-fakhar-zaman-shows-anger-after-hilarious-run-out-against-bangladesh/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-comedy-of-errors-as-fakhar-zaman-shows-anger-after-hilarious-run-out-against-bangladesh/ Mon, 21 Jul 2025 11:34:40 GMT

Pakistan have changed over the years, but their character of getting run out hilariously has still been the same. And during their humiliating seven-wicket defeat during the first of the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, they faced another instance of a comedy of errors, as their opener, Fakhar Zaman, got run out.

The incident took place on the third ball of the 12th over of the first innings of the Green Brigade, bowled by Mustafizur Rahman. Khusdil Shah was on strike, and he played a cut short in the point region. The striker rushed onto the bowling end, took a single, and again started to come back for the second. Khusdil took a few steps in taking the second run as Fakhar came with the momentum.

But suddenly, he stopped after taking a few steps, while Fakhar kept running in. Later, he realized that the run won’t get completed. The southpaw stopped in the middle of the crease and looked to get back to the striker’s end. But that was too late for the batter to get back as the wicket-keeper Litton Das had already collected the ball and broken the stumps. Expectedly, Fakhar was not happy, and he left the field angrily.

Bangladesh, coming off a series victory with a 2-1 margin against Sri Lanka in the away series, won the toss and decided to bowl first in Dhaka as they expected to use the slow and dryness of the surface. Fakhar smashed a fine knock of 44 runs in 34 balls at a strike rate of 129.41 before getting run out. Apart from him, none of the batters in the top six got into the double figures.

Khushil got 17 runs in 23 balls while Abbas Afridi collected 22 runs in 24 balls as the tourists ended their innings with 109 runs in 19.3 overs. Mustafizur returned with a fine figure of 2/6 in four overs while Taskin Ahmed picked up three wickets in 3.3 overs for 22 runs. The home side, however, made a fine start in the second innings. Parvez Hossain Emon got an unbeaten knock of 56 runs in 39 balls at a strike rate of over 140.

Towhid Hridoy got a scratchy knock of 36 runs in 37 balls with two fours and as many sixes as they chased down he score with seven wickets in hand and 27 balls to spare.

<![CDATA[Top 5 moments when Bumrah dismissed a batter off a no-ball]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-5-moments-when-bumrah-dismissed-a-batter-off-a-no-ball/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-5-moments-when-bumrah-dismissed-a-batter-off-a-no-ball/ Mon, 23 Jun 2025 11:51:37 GMT

Jasprit Bumrah is a world-class bowler with a myriad of tricks up his sleeve. When times are hard and the captain throws the ball to him, Bumrah often rises up to the occasion to take the attack to the opposition. A mere mention of his name is enough to make the batters tremble in fear across all formats. But Bumrah, just like all of us, is no godly creature. Being a mortal being, he is also entitled to make mistakes, and there are often times when he misses his mark in pivotal moments.

In this article, we shed light on the top five moments when Bumrah his no-ball turned out to be a costly miss for his side.

Fakhar Zaman (Champions Trophy 2017, Final)

This is probably the costliest no-ball Bumrah has ever bowled in his international career. Facing up to Pakistan in an all-important Champions Trophy Final, India couldn't have afforded a defeat against their arch-rivals. But Bumrah gave Fakhar Zaman a huge let-off early on in the innings, which probably decided the game in Pakistan's favor. Bumrah had Zaman caught behind when Pakistan's score read 17-0. The entire team started celebrating, and Zaman was already on his way back. But soon enough, it all came crashing down once it was later revealed in a no-ball check that Bumrah had overstepped by some distance while delivering the ball. Zaman was called back, and he went on a rampage, smashing 114 (106). As a result of this swashbuckling onslaught from the Zaman, Pakistan were able to score big and dismantle India cheaply in the second innings, winning the game by 180 runs.

Nathan Lyon (Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series, Fourth Test)

This will probably not go down as the costliest miss, but it will remind the fans how India struggled to dismiss the last wicket Aussie stand. In the fourth Test of the BGT 2024-25 Series, India had Australia reeling at 91-7. After a bit of resistance from the lower order, India needed one wicket to wrap up the tail. But much to their frustration, Lyon and Bolan made India toil hard. Even with Bumrah at the helm, India struggled to break the last wicket stand. During the last over of the day, Bumrah had Lyon caught at gully, where Rahul pouched the catch safely. The Indians seemed relieved at that point, knowing that the agony had just come to an end. As they began walking off the field, the late signal of a no-ball was issued by the on-field umpire, thus denying him a wicket. The two Aussie tailenders returned the next day and added a total of 63 runs for the last wicket to give India a hefty target of 340, which at the end turned out to be way beyond their reach.

Harry Brook (Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, First Test)

In the ongoing Headingly Test, India had the opportunity to put a tight squeeze on England and achieve a sizeable first-innings lead. But that opportunity went begging as Bumrah once again got too tight on the popping crease. Bumrah bowled an exceptional short-pitched delivery to surprise Harry Brook. Given the English batter's natural instinct, Brook tried to take a swipe at it but instead got a genuine top edge. He never had any timing on that, and the catch was comfortably taken by the fielder near mid-on. At the time, Brook was batting on a duck, and much to his delight, Brook was called back as Bumrah's front foot went over the line by some distance. From that point onwards, Brook never looked back and scored at an alarming rate to punish the Indian bowlers. He survived further close calls along the way, but his luck ran out when he was caught at deep fine leg on 99. By that time, England managed to wipe out a major chunk of the deficit thanks to Brook's electrifying onslaught. In the end, India could only secure a narrow lead of six runs, but the case would have been a lot different had Bumrah not bowled a no-ball earlier.

Upul Tharanga (Home ODI series 2017, First ODI)

It was the first ODI of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. India were skittled cheaply in front of their home crowd for 117 on a juicy wicket. With such a low total to defend, wickets were the need of the hour for India if they had to make a game out of it. They had their moment when Bumrah dismissed Tharanga off a catch. But the no‑ball negated it, and Tharanga got off the hook. It was also a time Sri Lanka found themselves in a tricky situation, and that wicket could have possibly changed the complexion of the game. However, much to the despair of the home side, Tharana took full advantage of the reprieve and made India pay. In that run chase, Tharanga went on to score 49 and stayed unbeaten to steer Sri Lanka to a comfortable win.

Ollie Pope and Alex Lees (Pataudi Trophy 2021-2022, Fifth Test)

This match marked a rare instance when Bumrah committed a double no-ball blunder. In the fifth test, India needed a draw to win the series and had England with their backs against the wall. Bumrah dismissed two batters in the same match after bowling no‑balls—first Lees, then Pope. He famously laughed after the wicket, acknowledging the irony. Although the two batters did not go on to make a significant contribution in that Test, Lees still managed to chip in with a healthy 56 in the fourth innings to give England a reasonable platform to chase down a mammoth 378 and level the series 2-2.

<![CDATA["Still Not in Full Rhythm" Fakhar Zaman surprises fans after strong PSL 2025 performances]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/still-not-in-full-rhythm-fakhar-zaman-surprises-fans-after-strong-psl-2025-performances/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/still-not-in-full-rhythm-fakhar-zaman-surprises-fans-after-strong-psl-2025-performances/ Wed, 16 Apr 2025 20:17:03 GMT

Fakhar Zaman is illuminating PSL 2025 with one massive hit after another. The Lahore Qalandars opener smashed a dashing 76 off 47 balls against Karachi Kings, after scoring 67 against Quetta Gladiators just days ago. With six fours and five huge sixes in his latest innings, Fakhar made batting on a challenging Lahore track appear a cakewalk. But in a shocking post-match admission, the left-handed batsman said he's still not functioning at his best.

Addressing the presentation ceremony, Fakhar's remarks surprised many: "In the previous game, I had said I didn't play in full flow. If I say the same today, it could sound ungrateful, but I still don't feel that I have reached my proper rhythm yet."

It was a brutally candid confession from a cricketer who leads the run charts currently and has consecutive Player of the Match awards. Despite his dominance at the crease, Fakhar is still self-critical and laser-like in his pursuit of bettering himself. For fans, it's a shock and a thrill because if this is not his best, what is going to happen when he goes full throttle?

Finding Form After Setback

Fakhar's performance was even more remarkable in light of his having just returned from an elbow injury. Shifting gears according to match tempo, understanding the surface, and managing his innings, he's checking all the right boxes while providing stability to the Qalandars' top order. Talking about Lahore's 65-run victory, he mentioned, "The ball wasn't coming on easily, so we planned to build a good partnership and keep wickets in hand for a last push."

Still playing at 35, Fakhar Zaman is beating the clock and expectations. With more than 2,600 runs in PSL history under his belt, including 21 half-centuries and two hundreds, he's one of the league's greats. And don't forget, he still retains the record for most runs in a single PSL season (588 in 2022). Now, sporting the Hanif Mohammad cap as PSL 10's top scorer, Fakhar is not only returning to the game but is creating a legacy. If indeed he has not yet reached his top gear, opposition bowlers should start worrying now.

Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has dismissed rumors about his retirement, calling them "baseless". Fakhar returned to the team during the home tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa but suffered another injury, and he missed the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 because of another injury.

Fakhar Zaman Denies Retirement Rumors, Focuses on Recovery

He got injured while fielding against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19. Fakhar felt uncomfortable running or moving, he left in the first over and had to leave for medical evaluation. Though he tried to continue playing, he soon walked off again, raising concerns about his fitness. Later scans confirmed an oblique tear, and then he was ruled out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 out just before Pakistan’s big match against India on February 23 in Dubai.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) later confirmed that Fakhar Zaman ruled out from the tournament and named Imam-ul-Haq as his replacement. Soon after, reports said that Fakhar was thinking about retirement.

However, Fakhar, who is recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, dismissed the rumors and said he is focused on making a strong comeback. “There is no truth in the retirement news,” Fakhar said. “I will be fully fit and join the team soon.” For those who don’t know about Fakhar Zaman , Fakhar made his international debut in 2017 and has played three Tests, 86 ODIs, and 92 T20Is, scoring 5,691 runs, including 11 centuries and 30 fifties.

India Vs Pakistan is the biggest rivalry in cricketing history which consists of high-quality competitiveness and high-voltage drama. The match is played between 11 players but the stake is held between two countries. Already Yesterday we saw the best encounter between England Vs Australia which was a really high-scoring match where 600 above runs were scored.
Australia opted to field first and within the first innings it seemed it would backfire them where England mounted a mammoth score of 350 plus with Ben Duckett scoring 150 plus runs. It seemed that Australia was done and dusted but, Australia is Australia they are always the champion side. With the help of Inglis century Australia chased the biggest target of ODI history.
Rivalry In the Champions Trophy
