Gujarat Giants Women claimed a stunning thrilling win after managing their record total in the fourth game of the WPL 2026 against Delhi Capitals Women on Sunday (January 11). 

After Delhi Capitals chose to field first, Gujarat Giants scored 209 all out in 20 overs. In reply, Delhi Capitals scored 205/5 in 20 overs, as Gujarat Giants won by four runs and moved on top of the points table with four points after two out of two wins. 

WPL 2026, Match 4: GG Women vs DC Women: Final over drama

In the final over, Delhi Capitals needed only seven runs to win, while Sophie Devine was bowling. She first dismissed skipper Jemimah Rodrigues (15) and then took the wicket of Laura Wolvaardt (77), while conceding only two runs in the entire over to snatch a stunning victory.

Sophie Devine scored 95 runs, Nandani Sharma recorded hat-trick

Giants opener Sophie Devine scored 95 off 42 balls with the help of seven fours and eight sixes. While she hit Sneh Rana for 32 runs in the sixth over to record the most expensive over in the history of WPL, her eight sixes equalled the record for the most sixes in a WPL innings. We are still waiting for the first WPL century, as Sophie Devine scored the sixth-highest score in WPL history. For the first wicket, Devine had a 94-run partnership with her opening partner Beth Mooney (19) in just 8.1 overs. 

Also, the no.3 batter, captain Ashleigh Gardner scored 49 off 26 balls with four fours and three sixes. However, there were no more 20-run marks, while only two more batters (other than the top 3) managed to reach double-digit scores. 

In the final over, Nandani Sharma recorded a hat-trick, as she took four wickets in that over, and finished with the bowling figures of 4-0-33-5. Also, Chinelle Henry (2/43) and Shree Charani (2/42) picked up two wickets each.

Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt's brilliance just failed

In reply, opener Shafali Varma scored 14 off 12, while she had a quick 41-run partnership with Lizelle Lee for the first wicket. Then, Lee and Laura Wolvaardt had a 90-run partnership for the second wicket. While Lee scored 86 off 54 balls with 12 fours and three sixes before getting out, Wolvaardt fought hard till the last over before just fell to reach the target. 

Before she was dismissed on the fifth ball of the final over, Wolvaardt scored 77 runs off 38 balls with nine fours and three sixes. 

Gujarat finally have a win while Meg Lanning finally sees defeat as she loses to Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians. The tournament is spicing up, and with Gujarat finally getting a win, they have a strong chance of making things a lot tougher for Royal Challengers Bangalore who are further behind them with no win in four games.
