Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) young all-rounder Harsh Dubey carried his stunning form into the Irani Cup final. He took 6 wickets in the final match of the tournament and helped Vidharbha to win against the Rest of India. In the 2nd innings of the match, Dubey claimed 4 wickets to go with the first-innings brace. 

Vidharbha emerged as the winner of the Irani Cup 2025, defeating the Rest of India. The match was a thrilling encounter, differentiated by some individuals' brilliance, including the brilliant spells by Harsh Dubey, though it was Atharva Taide who was named as the best player of the match for his first-innings 143-run innings. 

Batting first, Vidharbha scored 342 runs, powered by Atharva's hundred-plus-run innings. In reply, the Rest of India registered 214 runs. The first-inning lead for Vidharbha shaped the match for them to lift the trophy. During the first innings of the Rest of India, Yash Thakur plucked 4 wickets. In the second innings, Vidharbha and the Rest of India scored 232 runs and 267 runs, respectively. Vidharbha, led by Akshay Wadkar, won the final by 93 runs.

Harsh Dubey stepped up during the high time of the match. When the rest of India was chasing a challenging target of 361 runs, the emerging all-rounder cleared Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ishan Kishan, Akash Deep, and Gurnoor Brar. 

The 23-year-old has been in splendid form from the beginning of this year. In the last ten matches, including the Irani Cup 2025 final, he bagged 20 wickets. During the 2nd semifinal of the Duleep Trophy 2025, he took 6 wickets for Central Zone and scored 75 runs as well. Against the Northeast Zone, he picked 4 wickets in the Duleep Trophy. Dubey represented the India A team as well against the Australia A team and the England Lions.

Harsh Dubey picked up 3 wickets at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. The match is considered equally important for both of the teams, as there are multiple talents who can be in contention to be a part of India's main team setup. Dubey is undoubtedly one of them. The 23-year-old all-rounder caught everyone by surprise when he had 3 wickets in his bag after the end of the first innings. 

From the beginning of the innings, Australia A was well under control with their openers Sam Konstas and Campbell Kellaway. Dubey helped India A to get rid of dangerous Sam Konstas after clinching the scalp of Australia A team skipper Nathan McSweeney. In the IPL 2025 match played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in a one-sided manner by a huge margin of 110 runs. Batting first in this match, Hyderabad scored 278 runs for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, in response, Kolkata's team was all out for 168 runs.

Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bat and Abhishek and Head gave Sunrisers a stormy start by adding 79 runs in the power play. Both of them took the team to 50 runs in the fourth over itself. Abhishek was dismissed after scoring 32 runs in 16 balls with four fours and two sixes. Head completed his half-century in 26 balls by hitting a six to Varun Chakravarty and took the team's score beyond 100 runs. Klaasen also hit strong shots and Hyderabad scored 139 runs for one wicket in 10 overs. This player from South Africa completed his fifty in 17 balls. Narine gave Hyderabad the second blow by dismissing Head. But Klaasen's attacks continued and the team reached 200 in 15 overs.

Klaasen hit a quick century

Ishan Kishan also scored runs quickly. He played an innings of 29 runs in 20 balls with four fours and a six. Klaasen completed his century in 37 balls. This was the fastest IPL century from Sunrisers Hyderabad. He also became the second foreign player to score a century in the current season. This is jointly the third fastest century in the history of IPL. Narine was the most successful from Kolkata with two wickets. Apart from him, Varun Chakraborty conceded 54 runs in three overs and Enrique Norkia conceded 60 runs in four overs.

KKR's batting flop in run chase

Kolkata chased the target in a stormy manner and Sunil Narine started the innings with a six. He scored runs quickly by hitting big shots. But Jaydev Unadkat bowled him out and gave Hyderabad its first success. Captain Ajinkya Rahane (15) tried to score runs but he too was caught while playing Unadkat's ball. Quinton de Kock (9) did not look in form and Ishan Malinga ended his painful innings. Rinku Singh (9) and Andre Russell (0) both got out in two consecutive balls. Harsh Dubey got them out. With this, Kolkata's score became 70 runs for five wickets.

Angakrish Raghuvanshi (14) also could not do much and became Malinga's second victim. Ramandeep Singh scored 13 runs with two sixes and was bowled by Dubey. This wicket fell at the score of 110. After this, Manish Pandey and Harshit Rana made a stormy partnership of 52 runs by hitting some big shots. With this, KKR crossed 150. Unadkat got his third victim by getting Pandey caught by Abhinav Manohar. On the next ball, Vaibhav Arora was run out while running carelessly. Harshit Rana was out as the last wicket.

During the 61st match of the IPL 2025 between Lucknow Super Giants and SunRisers Hyderabad (LSG vs SRH) in Lucknow, SRH captain Pat Cummins chose to field first after winning the toss. During the team announcement, while Harsh Dubey got his first IPL cap, Atharva Taide was also named among the impact players of the SRH team. 

Who is Atharva Taide?

The 25-year-old Atharva Taide is in the "Impact Player Subs" squad for SRH in the IPL 2025 Lucknow match against LSG. While it can be his first IPL 2025 match, he has already played nine IPL matches for Punjab Kings, seven in 2023 and two in 2024. While the left-handed batter scored 61 runs last season, he scored 186 runs in the 2023 season with an average of 26.57 and a strike rate of 144.18, including two half-centuries.  

Taide played two Youth Tests and four Youth ODIs for the India U19 team. During the 2018 Cooch Behar Trophy Final, he became the only second batter, after Yuvraj Singh (358), to hit a triple century in the final of the tournament history by scoring 320 runs as a captain of Vidarbha.

Who is Harsh Dubey?

The 22-year-old Indian uncapped all-rounder Harsh Dubey made his IPL debut in this game. He joined the SRH side as a replacement for the injured Smaran Ravichandran. The Vidarbha cricketer is known for his bowling all-rounder roles in domestic cricket. The left-arm spinner has recorded 97 wickets in 18 first-class matches, 21 wickets in 20 List A games, and nine wickets in 16 T20s. The left-handed batter has also scored 709 first-class runs, 213 List A runs, and 19 T20 runs, including seven and two half-centuries in first-class and List A cricket, respectively. 

While Vidarbha won the latest Ranji Trophy season (2024-25), Harsh Dubey won the Player of the Tournament award for his all-round performances, recording 69 wickets and 476 runs. His 69 wickets in a season were the new record for most wickets in a Ranji Trophy season.
