A commendable victory for India A team chasing Australia A (IND A vs AUS A) team's first innings: 316 runs at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The high-scoring encounter between these teams was more entertaining because of Prabhsimran Singh, who played a match-deciding102-run innings against 68 deliveries, maintaining a strike rate of 150.00. His innings was laced with eight 4s and seven 6s.

The Australia A team, captained by Jack Edwards, registered 316 runs in the first innings of the match. The Aussie skipper himself scored 89 off 75, which was the highest individual score of the match for the team. Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana did their bowling part well by clinching 6 wickets together. Arshdeep took 3, and Harshit took 3. Ayush Badoni claimed a brace. Arshdeep was the best bowler of the game, as he spent only 38 runs in 10 overs, including a couple of maiden overs, and claimed 3 scalps.

The target of 317 runs was stiff enough to chase down. But India A was ready with their own version of attacking batting. For the opening pair, Prabhsimran and Abhishek Sharma stitched an 83-run partnership in 11.2 overs.

PBKS praised the effort

Australia A team found some glimpses of hope as they quickly got rid of Sharma and Tilak Varma. But Prabhsimran Singh was then in full flow, making strokes on both sides of the field. The opener showed no mercy for Cooper Connolly, Tanveer Sangha, or Jack Edwards. On the first ball of the 20th over, he made a poor connection on a Tanveer Sangha delivery and was caught out. Prabhsimran departed for a well-made 102, which was for a winning cause.

Punjab Kings, the runner-up of the previous Indian Premier League season, from their official social media platforms shared an appreciation post for the batter's heroic innings in Kanpur. In the IPL 2025, the batter was one of the key instruments for PBKS' dominating run in the group stage.

<![CDATA['If There Had Been an Issue....' – BCCI VP Rajiv Shukla blames AUS-A players for infection during India-A series]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/if-there-had-been-an-issue-bcci-vp-rajiv-shukla-blames-aus-a-players-for-infection-during-india-a-series/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/if-there-had-been-an-issue-bcci-vp-rajiv-shukla-blames-aus-a-players-for-infection-during-india-a-series/ Sun, 05 Oct 2025 12:46:27 GMT

Recently, the BCCI Vice President, Rajiv Shukla, clarified that the health scare that affected the Australia A camp in Kanpur during their one-day series against India A. Several Australian players reportedly caught an infection, but Shukla clarified that there were no issues with the quality of the food. Four players, including the captain, were affected by stomach infections during the tour, with Henry Thornton admitted to Regency Hospital after his condition worsened, while the other three were treated and released after medical checks.

Shukla emphasized that the meals served to the players were safe and sourced from one of the finest restaurants in the city. Team sources had hinted at a possible link to the hotel meals, but Shukla dismissed these concerns. “If there had been an issue with the food, all players, including the Indian players, would have fallen sick. It must have been something else. They are being fed food from one of the finest hotels, the food is good, and everyone is eating the same. Since a few players have fallen ill, they may have contracted an infection, and we are handling it," he told reporters.

The event has brought attention to hospitality and food arrangements, particularly in leagues such as the IPL when international players are in India and eat in the best hotels and restaurants. Shukla explained the difference, and the logistical issues in Kanpur.

Logistics and Arrangements Could Have Helped

Shukla pointed out that IPL arrangements differ because franchises handle all hospitality and food for players. “The issue arises because there aren't many hotels. We need 300 rooms in a five-star hotel, and that's not available. There is no international airport in the area that operates 24/7. Had better arrangements been in place, they would have gained an advantage,” he said.

Despite the health scare, India A won the first unofficial ODI, but Australia A bounced back with a dominant nine-wicket win in the second match, leveling the series at 1-1. The series continued without further major health issues.

India A batters thrashed the Australia A bowlers in the first unofficial ODI at Kanpur, where the opener Priyansh Arya and the skipper Shreyas Iyer scored powerful centuries, as India A scored 400+ runs with five 50+ scores.

India A scored 413/6 in 50 overs: Priyansh Arya 101 and Shreyas Iyer 110

While Tuesday (September 30) was washed out by rain, the India A vs Australia A first unofficial ODI was started on Wednesday (October 1), which was the reserve day for the match. India A openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh provided a strong start with a 135-run partnership for the first wicket. After Singh was dismissed for 56 runs in 53 balls with six fours and two sixes, Arya continued his smashing with the skipper Shryeas Iyer.

Arya scored 101 runs in 84 balls with 11 fours and five sixes. Then, Iyer and Riyan Parag set up another strong 132-run partnership for the third wicket. With five fours and five sixes, Parag scored 67 runs in just 42 balls.

Skipper Iyer and Ayush Badoni then quickly added a 73-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Captain Iyer scored 110 runs off just 83 balls with 12 fours and four sixes. Meanwhile, before losing his wicket in the last over, Badoni scored a quick-fire 50 off 27 balls with four fours and three sixes.

While all the top five India A batters scored 50+ runs, including two centuries, India A scored 413/6 in 50 overs. It was the third-highest unofficial ODI total for India A, the highest in the last seven years.

Australia A had to use seven bowlers, but the visitors had no clue at all. Captain Will Sutherland was their only bowler to pick up more than one wicket in that innings, as he had the bowling figures of 9-0-73-2.

Australia A all out for 242

In reply, Australia A were bowled out for only 242 runs in 33.1 overs, as India A won by 171 runs, their largest List A win against Australia A and fourth largest win against any team in this format. While the opener Mackenzie Harvey (68) and skipper Will Sutherland (50) scored half-centuries, Lachlan Shaw (45), Cooper Connolly (33), and Jake Fraser-McGurk (23) failed to capitalise on their quick starts.

Among the India A bowlers, Nishant Sindhu got four wickets, as he had the bowling figures of 6.1-0-50-4, while Ravi Bishnoi got two wickets in his eight overs (2/49). While Australia A were once fighting at 169/2 in the 21st over, they ultimately failed to handle the constant high required run rate pressure.

A major blow for India ahead of the India vs West Indies Test series, as their star pacer Prasidh Krishna left the field with an injury threat. During Day 2 of India A vs Australia A In a second unofficial test match at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, a bouncer hit Krishna's helmet. After a while, he had to leave the field.

Against Australia A team's first innings of 420 runs, India A struggled to find their rhythm throughout the day. Krishna came to bat at number 9 after the dismissal of all-rounder Manav Suthar. India was then 127 for 7 and needed some solidarity in the middle. Krishna got some batting skills as well, so there are expectations around him.

The pacer started to bat with a cool head but decided to go big after playing a few balls. With a boundary and an over-boundary, he scored 16 off 25. At the moment when he was about to accelerate his strike rate, a bouncer from Australia A team pacer, Henry Thornton, struck the helmet of Prasidh Krishna. The team physio quickly rushed onto the field and performed a concussion test. After that, Krishna remained on the crease for a while but was not able to continue for a long time and eventually retired hurt.

Ahead of the India vs West Indies two-match Test series, multiple star players are performing for India A against Australia A. Five-wicket haul for Manav Suthar ahead of BCCI's squad announcement for the India vs West Indies 2-match Test series, which is scheduled to start in October this year. During the second unofficial India A vs Australia A Test match, Suthar claimed 5 wickets, the best performance by any Indian bowler in the innings. Against Vidharbha, the 23-year-old claimed a 5-wicket figure.

A five-wicket haul ahead of India vs West Indies Test series

"I thought their left-arm spinner (Manav Suthar) bowled beautifully. He bowled quite slowly in the first session, and the way he was able to be really consistent in the second, changing his pace, he got a few wickets. He was building pressure today. It's a great template we can follow going into the next innings," McSweeney said.

Australia A team of batters again performed brilliantly at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. In their first innings, the visitors registered 420 runs, with help from three fifty-plus run innings.

Dhruv Jurel is leading the India A team against Australia A in the 2nd unofficial Test, as Shreyas Iyer, who was the captain in the previous match, pulled himself out of the competition, which left Indian cricket fans in shock. Why did he decide to skip the match?

It is learned that Iyer was about to play this match at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. His decision to pull himself out of the match came at the last minute. It is also reported that the batter already left the team and returned to Mumbai. It is not clear why he skipped the game and returned home.

According to reports, Iyer communicated with the officials about his decision not to participate in the game. Ahead of the India vs. West Indies Test series, which is scheduled to be held in October, the 30-year-old's withdrawal from the match against Australia A is considered a significant move. Will it harm his ambitions of returning to the Test format for India? The question remains.

Solid batting performance by Devdutt Padikkal against Australia A team at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. On the morning of September 19, the middle-order batter touched the 150-run milestone.

It was the second century from India A team in the 1st unofficial test. Dhruv Jurel scored a hundred yesterday, and then it was Padikkal who stretched his innings for 150 off 281. During this knock, he smashed 14 boundaries and one over-boundary. Against Australia A's first innings of 532/6d, the partnership between Padikkal and Jurel proved to be the match-saver for the home team.

Before that, Narayan Jagadeesan, Sai Sudharsan, and Abhimanyu Easwaran batted nicely; Jagadeesan and Sudharshan scored half centuries as well, but against such a mammoth total, the hosts needed some big knocks, which were provided by Jurel and Padikkal. Jurel played his 140-run knock with a bit of aggression, while Padikkal played an anchor role, maintaining a stoic character.

Quick dismissal of India A Team captain Shreyas Iyer put some smiles on Australia A team players. Next what happened was truly remarkable. Dhruv Jurel scored a century and created a solid partnership in the middle with Devdutt Padikkal at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Jurel completed his century in 114 deliveries with nine 4s and three 6s. At the end of Day 3 of the 1st unofficial test between India A and Australia A, the keeper-batter remains unbeaten for 113 runs after facing 132 balls. Statement-making hundred from Dhruv Jurel ahead of IND vs WI Test series

The century of Dhruv Jurel came at the right time, ahead of the India vs. West Indies Test series. The 2-match Test series is scheduled to start on October 2 this year. Before the series, the hundred from Jurel can be considered as a statement to the team selectors.

Jurel was with Team India during the 5-match Anderson-Tendulkar trophy. He got his chance as a replacement for injured Rishabh Pant. Jurel played the Oval Test and scored 19 and 34 runs, respectively, in the first and second innings.

Narayan Jagadeesan continues his prolific form for the India A team as well. After the stumps of Day 2, the opener remains unbeaten for 50 off 95, powered by 5 fours and one over boundary.

Against Australia A team's first-innings mammoth 532 runs, the home team needs someone who can remain rock solid at one side of the crease. So far, Jagadeesan has proved to be the most prominent in such a situation. He was in prolific form during the Duleep Trophy 2025 for South Zone. He played a couple of key knocks for his team in the semifinal of the tournament against North Zone. The top-order batter scored 197 runs in the first innings and an unbeaten 52 in the second innings to confirm a ticket for the final match. In the final, South Zone felt the absence of Narayan Jagadeesan very much, mostly during their batting parts.

The batter is mostly known for his technical batting abilities, and as a deserving candidate, he got a call to join the India A team for the series against Australia A. As of now, the Tamil Nadu-born batter batted confidently at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Narayan Jagadeesan remains rock solid on the track

The Indian bowling line-up with Prasidh Krishna and Khaleel Ahmed barely able to disturb the visiting team batters. With a couple of hundreds and three fifty-plus scores, they collected 532 runs for only 6 wickets and declared the innings. Now, it is time for the Indian batters to show their class.

Jagadeesan and Abhimanyu Easwaran started things off well from India A in a well-organized manner. Easwaran missed his half-century for only 6 runs; India A lost their first wicket on 88. Sai Sudharsan walked into the middle to join Jagadeesan, and they will continue their partnership tomorrow as well.
