The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the full schedule for New Zealand’s white-ball tour of India, set to take place in January 2026. The series would be a crucial component of India's build-up before the ICC T20 World Cup, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka later in the year. The tour consists of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

The three-game ODI series starts on January 11 in Baroda, with the other games taking place in Rajkot and Indore on January 14 and 18 respectively. The five T20Is will be played immediately after, from January 21 in Nagpur to January 31 in Thiruvananthapuram. The ODI matches are all scheduled to start at 1:30 PM IST, whereas the T20Is are to commence at 7:00 PM IST under lights.

These fixtures were ratified in the Apex Council Meeting of June 14. In addition to the international fixtures, the BCCI also unveiled the domestic cricket calendar for the season 2025–26, beginning with the Duleep Trophy on August 28. The Ranji Trophy will be conducted in two phases, one from October 15 to November 19, and the second from January 22 to February 1. The grand final is on February 28, 2026.

Further, India's top domestic T20 tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, is set to take place from November 26 to December 18. With international fixtures and a tight domestic season, Indian cricket is set for an action-packed and closely watched calendar year.

India’s Champions Trophy victory was not just a sporting achievement but a moment of unity and pride, as reflected in the diverse emotions shared across social media.

The 15-day tournament ICC Champions Trophy 2025 finally ended in a thriller where India defeated New Zealand in the Final in Dubai to create history by becoming the first team to lift the trophy thrice. 

Pakistan hosted the ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, which makes a return after eight years. Apart from the hosts Pakistan, who also started the tournament as the defending champions, India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan participated in the tournament. 

Except India, all other seven teams, including the hosts Pakistan played in Pakistan, while the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates hosted all Indian games. While Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore could host the Final if India failed to qualify, India's qualification to the Final denied that.

On Sunday, March 9, 2025, India faced New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final. After New Zealand chose to bat first, they scored 251/7 in 50 overs. In reply, India chased down the target in 49 overs after losing six wickets and lifted the trophy after 12 years. After winning the ICC Champions Trophy in the 2002 (co-winners with the hosts Sri Lanka) and 2013 editions, India became the first team to lift the ICC Champions Trophy for the third time.

It was a moment of redemption for India following their 2023 World Cup final despair, a historic Indian cricket night.

The moment that shocked Indian fans came in the 20th over of India’s innings. Virat Kohli had just walked in after Shubman Gill’s dismissal when New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner introduced Michael Bracewell into the attack. The move paid off immediately, as the off-spinner claimed Kohli’s crucial wicket.

Bowling from over the wicket, Bracewell tossed the ball up, tempting Kohli to play a flick. However, the ball turned sharply and struck him on the front pad. The New Zealand players went up in a loud appeal, and the umpire raised his finger.

Following Kohli’s departure, Shreyas Iyer came to the crease, looking to steady the innings alongside Rohit Sharma, who had already crossed his fifty. At the time of writing, India was 122 for two, with Rohit unbeaten on 76* and Iyer on 9*.
