During the India Women vs Bangladesh Women match in the last league stage game of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 on Sunday (October 26), the hosts got a major blow as the opener Pratika Rawal was injured on the field. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later updated the injury status. 

The India Women vs Bangladesh Women match ended with no result as both teams shared one point each. So, while the hosts India Women finished in the fourth place in the points table, Bangladesh Women finished in the seventh place with three points. After India Women sent Bangladesh Women to bat first, they scored 119/9 in 27 overs, as India Women had the revised target of 126 runs in 27 overs. The match was interrupted again when India Women were batting on 57/0 in 8.4 overs, but the match couldn't be restarted as both teams shared one point each.

Praika Rawal's right ankle twisted in desperate attempt

On the final ball of the 21st over, while Pratika Rawal was charging to the left towards long-on, she overran before realising the ball's actual placement. As she was desperately returning to save a boundary, her right ankle twisted. She was on the ground in pain, and it was a big blow for the hosts, who will face the defending champions and seven-time winners Australia Women in the second Semi-final on Thursday (October 30) at the same venue. Pratika needed small but important support to move to the boundary line.

Later, BCCI confirmed that Pratika sustained an injury to her knee and ankle. It isn't good news for the India Women as the injury may take some time to recover.

Pratika is now a crucial name of the Indian batting line-up, who scored her first ODI World Cup century in their previous match against New Zealand Women, where she scored 122 off 134 balls. She is the second leading run-scorer in the tournament with 308 runs, as she is just behind her opening partner Smriti Mandhana, who has scored 365 runs. If Pratika fails to be fit before the Semi-final, it can be a major blow for the hosts. 

India Women cricketer Arundhati Reddy, who got an injury during the warm-up game just before the beginning of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2025, took a stunning catch against Bangladesh Women during the last game of the league stage in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.

Navi Mumbai has once again brought a rain-interrupted game to the tournament, as the match has been shortened to a 27-over game per side due to two rain interruptions. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur chose to field first after winning the toss.

Arundhati Reddy grabbed a stunner

While Sharmin was trying to add more runs to the scoreboard, she was dismissed thanks to a stunning catch by the substitute fielder Arundhati Reddy, who replaced the injured Pratika Rawal. Shree Charani delivered a length ball on middle, while Sharmin went for a slog sweep. Reddy had no hesitation while she ran from the deep midwicket to grab that opportunity, and she completed that catch exceptionally and technically well to bring more sadness to the opposition camp. That wicket put Bangladesh Women to 101/7 in 24.1 overs.

Bangladesh Women ultimately managed to score 119/9 in 27 overs, as the revised target for the hosts India Women were 126 runs in 27 overs.

Arundhati Reddy proves her fitness
