On Monday, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) confirmed that Pakistan’s Muneeba Ali was rightly given out during the India vs Pakistan Women’s World Cup 2025 match in Colombo. The incident occurred in the fourth over of Pakistan’s innings when India bowler Deepti Sharma’s delivery hit Muneeba on the pads, and India appealed for an LBW.

The on-field umpire initially said “not out,” but Deepti quickly threw the ball at the stumps while Muneeba was still standing outside her crease with her bat in the air. The third umpire reviewed the play and gave her out, a decision that caused significant debate among fans and players. Some people thought the ball was "dead" following the LBW appeal, which meant that the game had stopped.

The MCC later stated that because the umpire had called "not out" and the ball was still in motion, the ball remained "live", allowing the run out to stand. They also explained that the “bouncing bat law,” which protects batters who accidentally lift their bat while running, did not apply because Muneeba was not running or diving back to her crease. She was merely standing with her bat raised.

MCC Explains Rules Behind Controversial Run-Out

“There are a number of pieces of Law to consider here. The first, and simplest, is that just because there was a vociferous appeal for LBW, the ball had clearly not become Dead. The appeal had been answered Not Out, the ball was not finally settled in the hands of the wicket-keeper, and Deepti’s act alone is a demonstration that not all the players considered it Dead. The ball remains in play,” MCC wrote on its website. “She had taken guard from beyond the popping crease and at no time did her feet move back into her ground.”

Pakistan’s players were unhappy with the decision, with captain Fatima Sana discussing it with the fourth umpire. Despite the controversy, India won the match comfortably by 88 runs, highlighted by strong performances from Harleen Deol (46 runs) and Richa Ghosh (35 off 20 balls). Kranti Gaud led the bowling attack, taking three wickets.

In a major development, Pakistan batter Sidra Amin has been sanctioned for the infraction of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women’s World Cup 2025 match against India on October 5, 2025. The 33-year-old cricketer was charged with a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which pertains to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

As per ICC regulations, Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of the player’s match fee along with the addition of one or two demerit points. The incident took place in the 40th over of Pakistan’s innings, when Sidra, after being dismissed, hit her bat forcefully onto the pitch in frustration.
Her actions were deemed a violation of the sport’s spirit and the conduct standards.

One demerit point has been added to Sidra’s disciplinary record, marking her first offence within a 24-month period. The charge was brought forward by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste, and fourth umpire Kim Cotton.

Star performer despite Pakistan’s defeat

Despite the disciplinary issue, Sidra Amin stood out as Pakistan’s top performer with the bat. She scored a brilliant 81 runs off 106 balls, hitting nine fours and one six during the innings. However, her fine effort went in vain as Pakistan Women suffered an 88-run loss against India Women at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

India batted first and scored 247 runs in 50 overs, after being asked to bat, and Pakistan lost three early wickets for 10 runs which hurt them in their chase. Next, Pakistan Women will face off against Australia Women on October 8, and India will play Australia on October 12, 2025, both matches will take place in Colombo.

India continued their dominant run against pakistan in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, registering an emphatic 88-run win to extend their lead to 12-0 in World Cup matches. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India scored 247, with valuable contributions from Harleen Deol (46) and Richa Ghosh's explosive 35 runs in a short time. Though none of the Indian batters converted their starts into big scores, the total proved to be more than enough on a slow pitch in Colombo.

Pakistan’s chase never took off as debutant Kranti Goud (3/20) delivered a stunning spell to rip through their top order. Deepti Sharma (3/45) and Sneh Rana (2 wickets) offered strong support as Pakistan were bowled out for 159. Sidra Amin’s brilliant 81 was the lone highlight for Pakistan, but the lack of partnerships proved costly. With the victory, India notched their second consecutive win in the tournament, while Pakistan earned its second successive loss.

IND-W vs PAK-W: Who Said What?

Kranti Goud (Player of the Match):

"I am feeling really good. To win the player of the match that too in a World Cup. My family members and everyone back home at the village will be really happy. They have put on a big LED to watch the game. It is a proud moment for everyone. (On wicket of Aliya Riaz) Yes, I did ask the captain for a second slip. Harmanpreet said the ball is old now, we should not get the second slip. I told her, no let's keep it in this over and in the same over, I got the wicket. I just want to say, my coach just tells me to keep it simple and that is what I try to do."

Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain):

"Definitely, very happy. Important game for us, I am sure everyone at home is also happy. I think, the kind of bowling we did today. Kranti was outstanding. Renuka was helping her to get those wickets. I think we bowled well overall, created too many chances but unfortunately dropped those. But you feel happy, when you win. To be honest, it was not an easy wicket to bat on. We just wanted to bat deep and see how many runs we can get. When we played here in the tri-series, it was a totally different surface. Rain for a few days, changing the surface. Richa was crucial with those 30 runs in the end. There are a lot of areas but right now I am happy that we won this game. We wanted the momentum when we go back to India. We won't be playing any more games here. We know how the pitches are in India, let's see what is the best combination for us and how we can improve our cricket day by day."

Fatima Sana (Pakistan Women Captain):

"Yeah, I think, at the start, we gave away too many runs in the powerplay. We gave away too many extras at the start as well as in the death overs. When I bowled, it was seaming a bit. Diana Baig was a bit confused whether to go for seam or swing. I told her what to do continuously. She will be okay in the next game. If we had restricted them to under 200, then it would have been a good total for us. Still, we lost this by some runs. I believed that tonight's batting line-up is the best one for us. They are proper batters in the top 5. They need to step up in the upcoming games. We need to explore ourselves in the batting. We need long partnerships and bat according to the conditions by assessing them. Sidra Ameen is the main player in our team. She is a hard-working player. Hope that the God will help her. Hope that she will be good in the next match as well."

<![CDATA[Top 3 reasons why Pakistan-W lost to India-W in the Women's World Cup 2025 match 6]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-3-reasons-why-pakistan-w-lost-to-india-w-in-the-women-s-world-cup-2025-match-6/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-3-reasons-why-pakistan-w-lost-to-india-w-in-the-women-s-world-cup-2025-match-6/ Sun, 05 Oct 2025 23:32:34 GMT

India Women defeated Pakistan Women by 88 runs in Match 6 at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India batted first in the contest and ended up with a total of 247 runs on a sluggish pitch. Harleen Deol scored 46 runs with fine patience, and there was a brisk knock of 35 runs from 20 balls by Richa Ghosh to assist India in finishing well. For Pakistan, Diana Baig bowled impressively and claimed 4 wickets for 69 runs, but India's total was still difficult to chase.

When Pakistan batted, they kept losing wickets at a frequent rate and never managed good partnerships. Opener Sidra Amin scored a fearless innings of 81 runs and did her best to lead her side, but she was not receiving much support from the other batsmen. India's bowlers applied pressure, bowled responsibly, and prevented easy runs. Kranti Gaud was the best bowler, who bagged 3 wickets off only 20 runs, and Deepti Sharma picked up 3 wickets as well. Below are the main reasons for the Pakistan Women defeat:

1. Inability to Form Partnerships

Pakistan could not produce any strong partnerships. While Sidra Amin scored 81, no one else supported her, making Pakistan’s chase very difficult, as they lost wickets one after another.

2. Good Bowling by India

The Indian bowlers bowled tight lines and didn't allow runs.. Kranti Gaud and Deepti Sharma both took 3 wickets a piece and kept Pakistan under pressure right from the start. Their teamwork and accuracy were essential to Indian success.

3. Mistakes Under Pressure

Pakistan made many mistakes while batting. Poor running between wickets and a big run-out of Muneeba Ali made things worse. These small errors and regular wickets stopped Pakistan from chasing and led to their 88-run defeat.

Chasing down the challenging target of the match against strong India Women at Colombo on Sunday (October 5) evening, Pakistan Women's star batter Sidra Amin created a new history for her country with her fighting knock.

ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, IND-W vs PAK-W: India Women won by 88 runs

After sending India Women to bat first, Pakistan Women restricted them to 247 all out in 50 overs. It was the first time that Pakistan Women bowled out India Women in the Women's ODI, but it was a challenging target for Pakistan, as the pitch wasn't comfortable for the batters, and the set batters were also struggling to hit boundaries consistently. India Women had a lot of 20s and 30s, but there weren't any 50+ scores, as Harleen Deol was the leading run-scorer for the team with 46 runs.

Chasing down the target, Pakistan Women struggled in the early period of the innings. Apart from two partnerships, there weren't any threats for the India Women, as only Sidra Amin managed to provide some strong replies in the chase. While Pakistan Women were all out for 159 runs in 43 overs, as India Women won by 88 runs, Sidra was the highest run scorer in the game with 81 runs.

Sidra batted strongly, but she hardly had any support from the other end, as only two more Pakistan batters managed to reach double-digit scores, who were Natalia Pervaiz (33) and Sidra Nawaz (14). Meanwhile, Sidra Amin scored 81 off 106 balls with nine fours and one six, as she was the only Pakistan batter to keep alive the game for the country, and after her dismissal, the fate was confirmed.

Sidra Amin became the highest run-scorer for Pakistan Women against India Women in the history of a Women's ODI match. The previous record was 68 not out by Nida Dar during the 2013 Cuttack Women's ODI. On the other hand, Amin smashed a six during her record-breaking innings, which was also Pakistan Women's first-ever six against India Women in the Women's ODI history.

A massive controversial moment during the IND-W vs PAK-W ICC Women's World Cup 2025 match when, after replay, the third umpire declared Pakistan Women's team opener Muneeba Ali run out. The Pakistan cricket team was visibly left unhappy with the decision.

The India and Pakistan women's cricket teams confront each other in a highly anticipated ODI World Cup match. Maintaining the 'no handshake' policy, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur denied a handshake with Pakistan captain Fatima Sana after the toss. The first inning of the match was full of thrilling moments, followed by the second inning's controversial run-out decision by the third umpire.

India went to bat first at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka, and scored 247 runs in 50 overs after losing all ten wickets. Pakistan bowlers did everything to push India batters behind. A quick-fire 35 off 20 from Richa Ghosh helped India to achieve the competitive total. Pakistan needed 248 runs to win the match.

Why is the run-out controversial?

During the last ball of the 4th over of the second innings, the controversial moment happened. Muneeba Ali missed a full-length delivery from Kranti Gaud with the bat. The ball hit the pad and went towards the second slip. Indian cricketers appealed loudly for an LBW. By then, Deepti Sharma picks up the ball and hits the stumps at the batter's end. After a failed LBW shout, it was then an application for a run-out. The field umpire signaled for the reply.

The replay showed that Muneeba first grounded her bat, but then, when the ball hit the stumps, she lifted her bat up from the ground. The third umpire decided to give it an out, which caused another controversial moment during an India vs Pakistan match.

On Sunday (October 5), India Women and Pakistan Women are taking on each other at Colombo in the sixth game of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, the Indian team set a challenging target for Pakistan, where they also set a new record for the team.

After Pakistan Women chose to bowl first, Indian batters got some starts, but all failed to capitalise their starts, as India were losing wickets at regular intervals. At the end of 50 overs, India Women were all out for 247 runs, which is a good challenging total on the challenging pitch. It was the first time for Pakistan Women when they bowled out India Women in the Women's ODI. Meanwhile, India Women scored their fourth-highest total against Pakistan Women in the Women's ODI, but we aren't talking about this record here.

India Women's innings had no 50+ scores, as the highest score was 46 by Harleen Deol, who took 65 balls to play that crucial knock. Opener Pratika Rawal and Jemimah Rodrigues scored 31 and 32 runs, respectively. Meanwhile, another opener Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, and Sneh Rana scored 23, 25, and 20 runs, respectively, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur was out for 19 runs. In a rain-struck IND-W vs PAK-W ICC Women's World Cup 2025 match, India batter Jemimah Rodrigues avoided an early dismissal and then added some sufficient runs to the team's total.

The India Women's cricket team and the Pakistan Women's cricket team lock horns today at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo, for a Women's ODI World fixture. Like the men's Asia Cup 2025, in this match too, India avoided a handshake with the Pakistan skipper after the toss.

Former India skipper Mithali Raj, who presented the pitch report from the field, claimed that the surface could be hard and beneficial for pacers with the new ball and batters during the middle overs of the match. After winning the toss, Pakistan Women's team captain Fatima Sana decided to bowl first against Harmanpreet Kaur's India.

Jemimah Rodrigues caught out early in the match!

The India Women's team presented good batting, but their strike rate was well below the runner ball. Harleen Deol (46) and Pratika Rawal (31) tried to lay a strong foundation for a competitive score, but to put a strong total on the board, Team India needed some quick-paced innings in the middle. Jemimah Rodrigues could be the right person to boost up the run rate for India.

Pakistan knew Rodrigues could be very dangerous. So they tried to clinch her wicket as soon as possible. During the third ball of the 6th over, Diana Baig picked up the wicket of the batter, caught behind the stumps. Pakistan players started to celebrate the moment, but the umpire called it a no ball. Jemimah Rodrigues survived. She went back to the pavilion after making 32 off 37 with 5 boundaries.

India Women vs Pakistan Women in the league stage match of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 at Colombo on Sunday (October 5) is running in a close battle in the first innings. However, at the end of the 34th over of the first innings, the match was halted for some unusual reason.

ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, IND-W vs PAK-W: Match halted due to bug attacks

After winning the toss, Pakistan Women chose to field first. While India Women were fighting at 154/4 in 34 overs, just losing the wicket of set batter Harleen Deol, who missed her half-century by just four runs, there was a little halt in the game for an unusual reason. The bunches of bugs were disturbing both ends of the wickets as both Indian batters and Pakistan bowlers were struggling enough. The struggle was running for a long time as the Pakistan Women brought some sprays to discourage the bugs. However, it didn't work anyway.

At the end of the 34th over, the umpires decided to go on a break and allow for the bug fumigation. Both teams left the field, and pest control tried to clear the bugs. The game restarted, but the situation didn't change much as the bugs were dominating once again. Even after the restart, both bowlers and batters were struggling to play.

During the India Women vs Pakistan Women match at Colombo in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, while the Indian openers provided a solid start, the Pakistan bowlers also asked questions. While in the eighth over, Pakistan had an appeal against Smriti Mandhana, which was denied by the bowling end umpire, Pakistan took a review after a long discussion, but was it too late?

While Pakistan Women are eyeing their first historic victory against India Women in the Women's ODI, India Women are out to maintain their Women's ODI dominance against Pakistan Women to make it 12-0 in their favour. In their league stage battle in the World Cup on Sunday (October 5), Pakistan Women chose to bowl first.

ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, IND-W vs PAK-W: Indian openers had positive start

Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal provided a good start, as they had a 48-run partnership for the first wicket. After securing some quick runs through the fours, the Indian openers were facing challenges with tight bowling performances by the Pakistan bowlers. In the eighth over, after Mandhana hit a beautiful four to Diana Baig, the Pakistan bowler trapped her for an lbw appeal on the very next ball. As it seemed pitched outside the leg, the bowling end umpire confidently denied that appeal.

ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, IND-W vs PAK-W: Pakistan wasted review after taking DRS at end of timer

Pakistan players were not confident enough about the review, but they had a long talk, as it was a matter of a dangerous Smriti Mandhana's wicket. Just two seconds left in the DRS timer, Pakistan captain Fatima Sana first raised her hands to take the review, but she still hesitated and had a thought that took away the timer. It showed DRS timer 0 when the Pakistan skipper finally took the review. The umpire accepted that review and went to the TV umpire. As expected, the ball pitched outside the leg as Pakistan lost that review. While Mandhana hit another four on the next ball, she was dismissed by the Pakistan skipper in the next over with another lbw appeal, which the bowling end umpire accepted, and India lost a review.
