The cricketing world is deeply saddened by the passing of Dilip Doshi, a former India spinner who quietly left a big mark on the game. He passed away at the age of 77 in London on Monday following a cardiac arrest. A man of few words and much skill, Doshi brought a touch of old-school class to the cricket field, relying on flight, spin, and control rather than pace or aggression. For those who followed Indian cricket in the late '70s and early '80s, his name brings back memories of grit and grace.

Doshi made his debut for India at 31 a time when most players are already looking toward retirement. But he didn’t let age define him. Over four years, he played 33 Tests and 15 ODIs, picking up 114 wickets in the longer format and 22 in limited-overs matches.Whether it was on the dry, spinning tracks of India or the green, seaming wickets of England, Dilip Doshi always stood tall.
He didn’t rely on raw speed or flamboyance he used his sharp cricketing mind and calm presence to outsmart even the best batsmen. He wasn’t the loudest name in Indian cricket, but those who truly understood the game knew how much he mattered. In tight Test matches, he could be counted on for a breakthrough. Off the field, he was just as valuable quietly guiding young bowlers, sharing lessons from years of experience, and staying deeply connected to the sport he loved.

A Quiet Legend Who Let the Ball Do the Talking

Dilip Doshi’s journey wasn’t about chasing fame it was about doing what he loved, with heart and purpose. He waited years for his chance to play for India, and when it came, he gave it everything. His story is a powerful reminder that not every hero starts early some arrive later and leave just as big an impact, if not more.

Even after his playing days were over, Doshi carried himself with the same quiet dignity that marked his bowling. He built a meaningful life off the field, remained close to cricket through his business and insights, and never stopped being a student and teacher of the game. His legacy will live on not just in statistics, but in the calm strength and deep sincerity he brought to every match, every conversation, and every moment on the field.

India's ODI vice-captain Shubman Gill replaced skipper Rohit Sharma to rise to the second spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI rankings, just a week before the start of the 2025 Champions Trophy, and on the day of the final ODI of the three-match series against England in Ahmedabad.

Gill gained one place to move to second on the latest ODI batter rankings and is just five rating points adrift of Babar after back-to-back half-centuries against England, while Rohit, sitting third, is within 13 rating points of the century in Cuttack.

The crown of NO.1 ODI Ranking for Batters :

Gill is now just five rating points behind Pakistan star Babar Azam (786 points), who retained his top spot. Although Rohit slipped to number three, he isn’t too far from Gill and Babar either with his 773 points.

Furthermore, India skipper Rohit Sharma dropped down one spot into third with a rating of 773. It is worth noting that Rohit looked to be in exceptional form in the Cuttack clash, scoring an exceptional century. However, despite his knock, he dropped down one spot but is still within catching distance of Gill and Babar.

Interestingly, Shubman Gill is well on his way to taking the No. 1 crown from Babar Azam, considering that the star batter performed exceptionally well against England in the third ODI of the series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Manasi Joshi, a top para-badminton champion, openly criticized Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, and Suresh Raina for their lack of awareness and sensitivity in a video they posted. She stressed the need to understand and respect the challenges faced by people with disabilities.

Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Suresh Raina, former India cricketers, are facing backlash after Manasi Joshi accused them of mocking the way people with disabilities walk.

Manasi, a former world no. 1 in her SL3 badminton category, called out the cricketers for their insensitive Instagram reel posted after their win against Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends tournament.

Harbhajan shared a video on Sunday showing the ex-India players limping and dancing to the Bollywood song “Tauba Tauba” after the match. India Champions, led by Ambati Rayudu’s 50 run performance, chased a 157 run target in the final over.

“Body ki Tauba Tauba ho Gayi in 15 days legends cricket. Every part of the body is sore,” Harbhajan wrote.

The controversial reel

Joshi, an outspoken advocate for people with disabilities, expressed her disappointment and anger over the insensitive content.

Manasi Joshi’s advocacy and response

“Wanted more responsibility from the stars that you all are, please do not mock at the gait patterns of people with disabilities. This isn’t funny.

“You don’t know how much harm your behaviour can do. The appreciation you’re getting from people around is appalling to see. This reel of yours is going to encourage that it is ok to make fun of the walking patterns of people with disabilities for a few laughs. More young children with disabilities will be bullied by using this reel. If any of you athletes would have done responsible community service in disability space area, you all would not have come up with this reel. I’m scared how the PR agencies of these athletes approved this reel for public platform,” Manasi wrote

“This isn’t legendary if you’re mocking the gait patterns of people with polio. This will enable bullying on young children with disabilities in India,” Manasi added.
