Indian bowlers dominated in their first game of the Asia Cup 2025, where they are facing the hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) at Dubai on Wednesday (September 10) and bundled out the hosts for only 57 runs. While all the Indian bowlers impressed in the second game of the Asia Cup 2025, Shivam Dube stunned with his three wickets, as he picked up two wickets in an over.

India started the Asia Cup 2025 journey without their leading T20I wicket-taker Arshdeep Singh, who is one wicket away from becoming the first Indian bowler to record 100 T20I wickets. The Men in Blues have started their T20 Asia Cup journey with two pace-bowling all-rounders (Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube) and one spin-bowling all-rounder (Axar Patel), along with one front-line pacer (Jasprit Bumrah) and two front-line spinners (Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy).

Asia Cup 2025, India vs UAE (Group A): UAE recorded 2nd lowest completed total in T20 Asia Cup history

After choosing to bowl first, India bundled out the hosts UAE for only 57 runs in 13.1 overs, as it was the second-lowest completed total in the T20 Asia Cup history, after Hong Kong's 38 all out against Pakistan in the 2022 edition. Only the UAE openers Alishan Sharafu (22) and skipper Muhammad Waseem (19) managed to reach double-digit scores in the innings.

The Men in Blues utilised six bowlers in the innings, while five bowlers picked up at least one wicket, and only Hardik Pandya didn't take a wicket in his one-over spell in the match. Among the Indian bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav (4/7) and Shivam Dube (3/4) recorded multiple wickets in the match, while Jasprit Bumrah (1/19), Axar Patel (1/13), and Varun Chakravarthy (1/4) got one wicket each.

Asia Cup 2025, India vs UAE (Group A): Shivam Dube recorded his best T20 bowling

Although the 32-year-old Shivam Dube is known as a genuine all-rounder as a useful left-handed batter and effective right-arm medium pacer, he isn't a regular bowler at present. Before this match, Dube recorded 13 wickets in 35 T20I matches. However, he delivered two useful overs against the UAE in their tournament opener, as the right-arm medium pacer had the bowling figures of 2-0-4-3. These are the best bowling figures for Dube in his T20 career.

Dube delivered his first over of the match in the 11th over of the innings, where he dismissed Asif Khan, as the wicketkeeper Sanju Samson took a great diving catch behind the wicket. In his next over, Dube took two wickets despite the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav withdrawing one stumping dismissal. On the first delivery of his second over of the match, Dube successfully trapped Dhruv Parashar for an lbw, while Junaid Siddique's legal and shocking stumping dismissal on the third ball of that over was ultimately withdrawn by the Indian skipper. However, after a wide delivery, Siddique (0) lost his wicket as Dube got his second wicket of the over.

<![CDATA[Asia Cup 2025: Why Arshdeep Singh is not playing today in IND vs UAE match 2?]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/asia-cup-2025-why-arshdeep-singh-is-not-playing-today-in-ind-vs-uae-match-2/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/asia-cup-2025-why-arshdeep-singh-is-not-playing-today-in-ind-vs-uae-match-2/ Wed, 10 Sep 2025 19:44:59 GMT

Team India is ready for their journey in the Asia Cup 2025, as they are facing the hosts United Arab Emirates in the Group A match on Wednesday (September 10). While the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav chose to field first in their tournament opener at Dubai, the main Indian T20I pacer Arshdeep Singh hasn't been included in the playing XI.

The 26-year-old Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is the leading T20I wicket-taker for India with 99 wickets in 63 games, as he is one wicket away from becoming the first Indian bowler to record 100 T20I wickets. If he completes this feat in his next two games, he will become the fastest pacer and fourth fastest bowler to record 100 T20I wickets. The left-arm pacer is very strong in the T20 format with his swing bowling with the new ball and also can deliver effective yorkers in the slog overs.

Asia Cup 2025: Why is Arshdeep Singh missing from India's playing XI vs UAE?

However, in a shocker, Arshdeep isn't playing in India's T20 Asia Cup opener. India are going with one front-line pacer (Jasprit Bumrah) along with two pace-bowling all-rounders (Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya), one spin-bowling all-rounder (Axar Patel), and two spinners (Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy). In this all-rounder-heavy squad, India's leading T20I wicket-taker has to leave his spot at least for the tournament opener.

India are expecting spin-friendly pitches in the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE, and while the Men in Blues have two pace-bowling all-rounders along with the country's best pacer Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep has to fight for his place.

India will play their remaining Group A matches of the tournament on September 14 and 19 against arch-rivals Pakistan and tournament debutant Oman, respectively. Although Arshdeep is missing India's tournament opener playing XI, he is likely to play against Pakistan.

India will begin their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday, September 10, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the defending champions are eager to reclaim the prestigious T20 title. The Men in Blue return to T20 internationals after a gap, with their last series played against England earlier this year. While most players have been active in the IPL 2025, the Asia Cup will be their first international T20 outing since then.

On the other hand, UAE enter the competition after a mixed run in the recent tri-series involving Pakistan and Afghanistan. Despite defeats, they showed signs of promise and will look to challenge the defending champions. Captain Muhammad Waseem will play a key role at the top, supported by Rahul Chopra, Simranjeet Singh, and Haider Ali, who are expected to contribute significantly. The team hopes to cause an upset and make their presence felt.
