Top-order batting failure was not enough to stop Quetta Gladiators (QG) from defeating Karachi Kings (KAR) with the help of their bowling unit. Despite a small total of 142, Gladiators managed to win the PSL 10 match by a 5-run margin.

Toss and the first innings

Karachi Kings captain David Warner decided to field first after winning the toss. He was confident that his team would be able to chase down the target batting second, but that did not happen. Kings' bowlers did their part well by restricting QG to only 142 in 19.3 overs. Hasan Ali was the best bowler for KAR with 3 wickets. Faheem Ashraf, Quetta Gladiators' number seven batter, scored 43, and Kusal Mendis at number four got 36.

Second inning

Despite losing captain David Warner in the first over, Karachi Kings was driving their innings smoothly by their two batters— Tim Seifert (47) and James Vince (30). Tim and James took their team score to 77; from here, the Quetta Gladiators started to get their momentum. Mohammad Amir, Khurram Shahzad, and Mohammad Wasim Jr. claimed 2 wickets each. Hasan Ali, at the lower batting order, tried his best and scored an unbeaten 27, but the run rate was then too slow to achieve the target in the 20-over limit. Abrar Ahmed wins the player of the match award for his economical bowling spell, which curved down the opposition's run rate.

Post-match reactions:

David Warner (Karachi Kings captain): "We will look at the positive; our bowlers did well by taking early wickets. I don't mind losing, but we handed over the win to the opposition. Quetta Gladiators didn't bowl well in particular, but our team was complacent in the middle phase. It was a 160-run wicket; we bowled well in the first innings to restrict the Quetta Gladiators.

Saud Shakeel (Quetta Gladiators captain): "Karachi Kings started well with the bat out. Players had the belief to win from any position. Fielders brought us into the game today. It was a 180-200 pitch, but we are losing quite a few wickets in the Powerplay."

Islamabad United (ISL) is looking extremely dangerous on the field as they remain undefeated after 4 PSL 10 matches. Kings registered their fourth consecutive win after defeating Karachi Kings (KAR) in the 10th match of the tournament. ISL, batting second, secured 2 more points with a 6-wicket victory and 17 balls to spare.

Toss and the first innings

After monitoring the Karachi pitch, Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Davinder Warner, former Australia international and Karachi Kings captain and opener, is having a tough time in Pakistan. Against United, he lost his wicket early; his opening partner, Tim Seifert, tried to hold one side of the wicket, which resulted in a 30-run innings, facing 37 balls. Apart from Tim, Saad Baig, with 20 runs, was the second-highest scorer for the Karachi-based franchise. ISL skipper Shadab Khan produced the best bowling figure of the night, a couple of wickets in his 4-over quota supported by an economy rate of 4.25.

Second innings

Without any notable trouble, United got their desired result with the help of Shadab Khan (47), Azam Khan (31), and Sahibzada Farhan (30). The surface was not the easiest one to rotate in a swift manner. Hasan Ali, with 2 scalps, was the best performer with the ball for Karachi Kings.

Post-match reactions

David Warner (Karachi Kings skipper): "The target was challenging; the ball's movement made it tough early on. We were about 20 runs short of a competitive total. We need to change our batting approach. Hasan Ali as the spearhead of our bowling attack—excellent. We need to build a partnership in the first six overs."

Shadab Khan (Islamabad United captain): "We made plans after the draft, including bringing in Mohammad Nawaz. Azam Khan and Sahibzada Farhan provided us a good start. Playing on this wicket required adjustments, particularly playing straight due to the low bounce. We need to improve our energy level on the field and better execution in both batting and bowling."

<![CDATA[[WATCH] PSL 10: Mohammad Amir hits two massive sixes in thrilling performance against Quetta Gladiators]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/not-just-a-bowler-amir-turns-finisher-in-dramatic-cameo/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/not-just-a-bowler-amir-turns-finisher-in-dramatic-cameo/ Sat, 19 Apr 2025 08:08:02 GMT

Mohammad Amir surprised everyone in the clash between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators during PSL 2025 in Karachi, showing unexpected fireworks. The cricket world is well acquainted with Mohammad Amir’s fiery spells, ripping through stumps and nailing pinpoint yorkers. But Friday night in Karachi offered a twist—a glimpse of Amir the fighter with the bat. With Quetta Gladiators collapsing in their chase against Karachi Kings, Amir walked in at 57/7, a moment when the game looked lost. Yet, instead of merely hanging around, the left-arm pacer swung hard and delivered a surprising counterattack that thrilled the crowd and reignited fading hopes.

Amir’s intent was clear during the 15th over, bowled by Khushdil Shah. On the third delivery, he muscled a boundary to midwicket. Without hesitation, he danced down the track on the next ball and sent it soaring over deep mid-wicket for a maximum. To top it off, he smashed a towering six over long-on on the final ball of the over, turning what looked like a dull finish into an electrifying sequence of power hitting.

In just 16 deliveries, Mohammad Amir lit up the stadium with a fiery 30-run knock, decorated with two boundaries and three sixes. Though the match didn’t swing back in Quetta’s favour, Amir’s resistance stood out. It reminded everyone that whether with ball or bat, Amir brings flair and drama every time he steps onto the field. His late-innings fireworks were a testament to his competitive spirit and refusal to go down quietly.

Not only with bat but Amir was lethal with ball also

Earlier in the evening, Mohammad Amir showcased his bowling brilliance once again, delivering early breakthroughs during the powerplay. He picked up the key wickets of James Vince, who was in fine form with a 70-run knock, and Mohammad Nabi, who added a quick 18. Amir ended with figures of 2/42 in his four-over spell, doing his part to restrict the flow of runs, even as Karachi Kings managed to post a competitive 175/7.

Despite Amir’s efforts with both bat and ball, Quetta Gladiators were never truly in the contest. Karachi Kings dominated the match and sealed a comfortable 56-run win. However, for Quetta fans, the silver lining was Amir’s fighting spirit. His late cameo with the bat and determination on the field offered a glimpse of grit and resilience—qualities that can inspire the team as they look to bounce back in the upcoming fixtures.
