Northern Superchargers-Women batter Davina Perrin becomes the first batter, man or woman, to smash a century in the ongoing edition of The Hundred Competition. The 18-year-old batting prodigy achieved this historic feat during the Eliminator clash of The Hundred Women's Competition on Saturday. Perrin launched a scathing attack on the London Spirit (Women), smashing a blazing 101 (43) to power the Supercharges to a humongous 214/5. By doing so, Perrin also became the youngest ever batter to score a century in the history of the Hundred Competition. 

The youngster was responsible for giving the Supercharges a rapid start at the top of the order. Rubbing shoulders with some of the best cricketers in women's cricket, Perrin showed no signs of nerves as she punched way above her weight to terrorize the Spirit bowlers. Together with Alice Davidson-Richards, Perrin mounted a massive 101-run stand for the first wicket. While Alice played the role of a second fiddle, Perrin allowed her bat to do the talking for the most part.

In her 43-ball onslaught, Perrin accounted for an unbelievable 15 fours and five sixes. As unbelievable as it may sound, nearly 90% of her runs came in boundaries. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that there were only nine singles and one double throughout the entirety of her blazing 43-ball knock. Eva Gray and Sarah Glenn were the most affected bowlers as they went around the park for 35 (11) and 21 (8), respectively.

Curtains were eventually drawn on her innings during the 79th ball of the first innings, courtesy of a fortunate run-out attempt by Charlie Dean in her follow-through. The 18-year-old Wolverhampton-based batter received a huge round of applause from the Oval crowd as she gradually exited the field of play. Nevertheless, her electrifying ton propelled Northern Superchargers-Women to a commanding position, as their bowlers had sufficient runs on the board to play with. 

Charli Knott (40 off 16) and Georgia Redmayne (50 off 29) led a valiant effort with the bat, but a three-wicket haul from Grace Ballinger and Annabel Sutherland pegged London Spirit back and eventually restricted them to 172-9. 

London Spirit Women bowed out of the Hundred Women's 2025 after a crushing 42-run defeat to Northern Superchargers Women in the Eliminator. Batting first, the Superchargers piled up a record 214/5, thanks to a breathtaking century from 18-year-old Davina Perrin. Spirit’s bowlers had no answers as boundaries flowed freely across the Oval. In reply, Chasing such a large total, London Spirit fell to scoreboard pressure and lost wickets frequently, with only Georgia Redmayne being a standoutas Spirit finished with only 172/9 to end their title defense. 1. Davina Perrin’s record-breaking century

Perrin blasted 101 off just 43 balls, the fastest and youngest century in the Women’s Hundred. Her attacking stroke play powered Northern to the highest-ever total in the tournament. This explosive start left Spirit chasing an impossible score.

2. Northern's dangerous bowling attack

Grace Ballinger (3/22) and Annabel Sutherland (3 wickets) destroyed the Spirit middle order. Their consistent lines restricted scoring options and forced mistakes. The disciplined bowling maintained pressure on Spirit throughout the chase.

3. Spirit’s fragile batting response

The London Spirit batters fell quickly at the top of the order, leaving them with a steep win rate before they found their feet. Partnerships never developed, and as the required run rate continued to rise. Even with Redmayne's fifty, it failed to fight against a heavy defeat.

Southern Brave Women chased down 126 with one over left to win by 8 wickets. Their bowlers first kept Spirit to a low score, and then Laura Wolvaardt’s unbeaten half-century made the chase easy. Spirit struggled for runs and kept losing wickets. Cordelia Griffith fought hard with 44, and Charli Knott hit 36, but no one else could stay long.

Mady Villiers took 3 wickets for Brave and Lauren Bell also bowled well. Brave started strong with Maia Bouchier scoring 43. Laura Wolvaardt stayed till the end with a fine 56 not out, and Sophie Devine added the finishing touches. Only Issy Wong took wickets for Spirit, but Brave never looked in trouble and won easily.

In the 26th match of The Hundred Women's 2025, London Spirit Women played against Southern Brave Women at Lord's on August 23. London Spirit batted 100 balls for 125/8, failing to scuff up the desired bat. Southern Brave got the target with 8 wickets to spare as Laura Wolvaardt remained unbeaten on 56*. Brave's well-paced bowling and top-notch fielding, along with their undefeated run, left Spirit in a tight spot to regain their composure. Here are the main reasons why London Spirit Women lost the match.

1. Underwhelming Batting Performance

London Spirit Women had a hard time scoring a good total and ended up with 125/8. Cordelia Griffith could do little apart from scoring 44. Mady Villiers of Southern Brave took 3 wickets in 3 overs, and the Spirit’s lineupwas easily broken.

2. Southern Brave's Clinical Chase

Southern Brave Women reached 126 without any difficulty and total control was maintained throughout the innings. Laura Wolvaardt was not out on 56 * and guided her team to victory. The Spirit were not able to gain momentum because of their disciplined bowling and tough fielding.

3. Pressure of the Undefeated Streak

Southern Brave had their record intact with six wins from six matches before the current encounter. Their self-belief and vigor turned into additional pressure on the London Spirit Women. This mental advantage was one of the factors that contributed to Spirit’s lack of recovery during the chase.

Northern Superchargers Women stayed unbeaten in The Hundred 2025 after beating London Spirit Women by 8 wickets. Spirit batted first but never looked settled and ended with just 90/8. Annabel Sutherland, Grace Ballinger, and Nicola Carey kept striking at the right times. Georgia Redmayne scored 29 from 29, and Issy Wong added an unbeaten 24 to give Spirit some late runs.

The Spirit batters struggled from the start, losing wickets regularly. Redmayne held one end, and Wong’s late knock gave them some hope, but the total was too small to trouble the Superchargers.

Chasing the modest target, Superchargers lost two early wickets to Rebecca Tysons. But Phoebe Litchfield played a fine innings of 55 not out, with support from Annabel Sutherland (29*). Together, they carried the team home with 34 balls to spare.

London Spirit Women put up a powerful show at Edgbaston, beating Birmingham Phoenix Women by a huge 88 runs. After winning the toss and batting first, the Spirit made 164/6 in their 100 balls. Kira Chathli was the star with a brilliant 69 from 35 balls, hitting 13 boundaries. Grace Harris added quick fire with 34 from just 15 balls, while Danielle Gibson and Sarah Glenn gave the innings a strong finish. For Phoenix, Emily Arlott was the only highlight with the ball, taking 3/25.

Even after losing an early wicket, Chathli’s attacking knock kept the scoreboard moving. She got good support from her partners before Harris came in and smashed the bowlers all around the park. The Spirit’s total looked more than enough on the day.

Birmingham Phoenix never looked in control while chasing. Only Emma Lamb showed some fight with 23 off 13 balls, but wickets fell regularly. Charlie Dean, Eva Gray, and Rebecca Tyson all bowled superbly and picked two wickets each. Phoenix were bowled out for just 76, giving Spirit a huge 88-run victory.

London Spirit Women were beaten comfortably by 33 runs against Trent Rockets Women in Match 13 of The Hundred Women's 2023 competition at Lord's, as they fell short of a target of 150. Trent Rockets had built their innings around Natalie Sciver’s outstanding half-century, with good support from Bryony Smith and Ashleigh Gardner. Although Eva Gray starred with the ball for Spirit, their batting collapse meant the home side couldn’t capitalize on her effort. Here are the main reasons why London Spirit Women lost the match:

1. Natalie Sciver’s Captain’s Knock 

Natalie Sciver hit an unbeaten 51 off just 29 balls to help her team win the game, regularly hitting fours and sixes at important times. She was well-backed up by Bryony Smith’s 42 from 23 balls and Ashleigh Gardner’s quick 25 from 22 balls, giving Rockets the flow to the innings throughout. The power-hitting alternative almost immediately put Spirit under the target total pressure.

2. Spirit’s Batting Struggles

London Spirit never looked at ease in their chase, losing wickets in a couple of clusters that disrupted any rhythm. Charli Knott scored 33 off 25 and Cordelia Griffith made a rapid 20 off 11, but neither innings was turned into a match-defining score, and without partnerships, the required run rate just kept rising, and the side was always chasing the game.

3. Rockets’ Wicket-Taking Bowling

Kirstie Gordon was sensational with figures of 4/15, removing key Spirit batters and dismantling their middle order. Ashleigh Gardner (2/14) and Heather Graham (2/28) bowled with discipline, ensuring dot-ball pressure. Their combined efforts left Spirit's chase in tatters; there was no real hope of recovering.

London Spirit Women won a close match against Manchester Originals Women by 3 wickets in a low-scoring game at Emirates Old Trafford. Bowling first, Spirit kept the Originals to 122/6 in 100 balls. Grace Harris played the match-winning knock, scoring an unbeaten 50 from 32 balls to finish the game with just two balls left.

The Originals lost Kathryn Bryce (2) and Amelia Kerr (1) early. Captain Beth Mooney made 26 from 20 balls before being dismissed by Charlie Dean. Deandra Dottin scored a quick 36 from 30 balls, but regular wickets slowed them down. Alice Monaghan’s unbeaten 18 helped push the score past 120.

Chasing 123, Spirit had a poor start as Georgia Redmayne (11) and Danielle Gibson (0) went early. Kira Chathli added 34 from 30 balls to steady things, but the star was Grace Harris, who hit 50 off 32 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. A sudden collapse from 80/3 to 114/7 made the game tense, but Harris, with Sarah Glenn (10), guided the team to victory with two balls remaining.

London Spirit Women held their nerve to beat Welsh Fire Women by just 2 runs in a thrilling 6th match of The Hundred Women’s Competition 2025 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

Batting first, London Spirit lost Kira Chathli (19) and Redmayne (11) early to tight bowling from Hayley Matthews and Katie Levick. Charli Knott fought hard, scoring a quick 47 off 33 balls with 7 fours, but wickets kept falling at the other end. Levick’s brilliant spell of 4/26 and Davies’s 3/16 bowled Spirit out for 124 with one ball left.

Chasing 125, Welsh Fire started well with Sophia Dunkley (36) and Hayley Matthews (26) putting on a solid stand. But Spirit’s bowlers kept taking important wickets to stay in the game. In the tense final moments, Jess Jonassen (29) was run out with 2 balls left, leaving Welsh Fire needing 4 runs. Georgia Elwiss couldn’t find the boundary, and Spirit took a dramatic 2-run win.

It was a night that was meant to herald a bold new chapter in English cricket. With six of The Hundred’s eight franchises now privately owned, the stage was set for the competition’s glitzy relaunch. But while the investors dazzled in the stands, London Spirit's men faltered under the lights at Lord’s.

Among those watching were the “Tech Titans” – a consortium of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who had recently secured ownership of the Spirit in a record-breaking £295 million deal. Their arrival marks a new era at the Home of Cricket, one where venture capital meets tradition. The group was seen enjoying the facilities at Lord’s, even dining in the Pavilion the night before. Operational control of the franchise formally began on October 1, but their presence was already being felt.

Unfortunately, Spirit’s men did little to match the fanfare. Bowled out for a meagre 80 on a sluggish pitch, the side failed to provide any spark. A lineup dominated by players over 30 struggled to adapt, managing just nine boundaries in 94 balls. “It wasn’t a shocking pitch,” admitted Liam Dawson, “we just didn’t adjust quickly enough.”

Spirit Women Shine as Investors Eye the Future of The Hundred

In stark contrast, the women’s match offered the fireworks that the occasion demanded. Grace Harris’ explosive 89* outshone Meg Lanning’s stylish 85 as Spirit successfully defended 176, with over 15,000 fans in attendance by the second innings. It was a reminder that, despite the corporate reshuffling, the competition still has the power to thrill.

Meanwhile, Akash Ambani – chairman of Reliance Jio – continued discussions for a deal involving the Oval Invincibles, attending both the Test at The Oval and the Hundred opener. Rashid Khan, a key part of Invincibles’ plans, noted his link with the Mumbai Indians franchise had helped pave the way for his move.

For now, the fifth season of The Hundred feels like a bridge year – a transitional phase ahead of what’s expected to be a transformative sixth edition. The investments are locked in. What remains uncertain is how much will change once the new owners take full control.
