In a big domestic transfer, former India opener Prithvi Shaw has officially switched to the Maharashtra cricket team for the next 2025-26 season. The Maharashtra Cricket Association made the confirmation on July 7, with the association revealing that Shaw had received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association last month.

Shaw, aged 25, broke an old relationship with Mumbai after he was withdrawn from their Ranji Trophy team last season for disciplinary issues. Though he played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final in December 2024 to lead Mumbai to a title win he has since stayed out of domestic limelight. The move to Maharashtra marks a new beginning for the gifted right-hand opening batsman, who was touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket after his debut Test century in 2018.

In a letter to the MCA, Shaw thanked the association for their support through the years. "At this juncture in my career, I feel that becoming part of the Maharashtra team will make me a better cricketer still. I'm deeply thankful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the chance and the support I have had," Shaw stated.

He said joining a forward-thinking team with the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ankit Bawne, Rahul Tripathi, Rajneesh Gurbani, and Mukesh Choudhary would have a good influence on his cricketing career. Shaw's transfer comes when he is seeking to rekindle his career following a series of setbacks ranging from injuries, fitness issues, and a slump in form. Interestingly enough, he remained unsold during the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Maharashtra Cricket Association president Rohit Pawar also expressed a warm welcome to the addition, saying, "We are excited to have a player of the caliber of Prithvi Shaw. His experience in international and IPL cricket will be very useful for our team, especially in guiding young players."

As Shaw starts anew, Mumbai and Maharashtra fans alike will be looking closely to determine whether the talented opener can revive the magic that once saw him rocket to national fame.

The Maharashtra Premier League 2025 ended with a thrilling final as Eagle Nashik Titans (ENT) sealed a well-deserved 6-wicket victory over Raigad Royals (RGD) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Entering a strong campaign, ENT chased 191 in a mere 19.1 overs to win their first MPL title.

Raigad Royals Innings

Batting first, Raigad Royals got off to a dismal start with opener Vicky Ostwal getting out for a duck in the very first over. And then there followed an amazing rescue act by Siddhesh Veer, who took charge with a brilliant 99 off 59 balls*, one run short of a dream hundred in the last. He was ably supported by Harsh Mogaveera, who smashed 48 of 39 balls, and Niraj Joshi, who contributed 27 off 18 balls. Veer's innings was a mix of aggression and composure, holding the innings together and taking it to quick runs in the death overs. Raigad finished with a menacing 190/4 in 20 overs, giving themselves a genuine chance of winning the title.

However, despite the big score, the Royals' momentum faded in the final overs. Eagle Nashik Titans' bowlers kept things tight enough to prevent a 200-plus total. Mukesh Choudhary (2/42) bagged two important wickets, and Kaushal Tambe (1/36) and Prashant Solanki (1/42) contributed.

Eagle Nashik Titans Innings

In reply, Eagle Nashik Titans took off on a good note with Mandar Bhandari (28 off 22) and Arshin Kulkarni giving a solid platform. Kulkarni occupied a master anchor-aggressor's position, blasting 77 from 53 balls with five boundaries and four sixes. His innings turned the game towards ENT and tired out Raigad's bowling department. Raigad Royals could not manage to deliver breakthroughs at important stages and were disappointed by their bowling under pressure. Except for Tanay Sanghvi (2/31), none of the bowlers could trouble the Titans' middle order.

While the game reaching ending, Ranjeet Nikam launched a counterattack with 31 off only 13 balls before closing the game and Atharva Kale with a blazing 23 off 7 balls*, completing the chase on 191/4 in 19.1 overs.

In Qualifier 2 of the 2025 Maharashtra Premier League (MPL), Raigad Royals performed under pressure to defeat Puneri Bappa by 25 runs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, and booked their place in the grand finale against Eagle Nashik Titans.

Raigad Royals Innings

Raigad Royals opted to bat first and scored a total of 133/9 in their 20 overs. Siddhesh Veer led the charge with a cautious 42 off 40 deliveries, keeping the innings together, while Omkar Khatpe contributed 21 off 24. There was a useful contribution of 11 off 9 from Vicky Ostwal at the end. Puneri Bappa's bowling effort kept the stranglehold tight, spearheaded by Ramakrishna Ghosh (2/25), Nikit Dhumal (2/39), and Yash Kshirsagar (1/8 in 2 overs), who collaborated well to restrict Raigad to a chaseable target.

Puneri Bappa Innings

Pursuing 134, Puneri Bappa struggled from the very beginning and were never in the contest, being bowled out for 108 in 18.5 overs. Rushikesh Sonavne put up some resistance with a solid 30 off 30 balls, and Suraj Shinde attempted to provide a push with a 22 off 16. But the Royals' bowlers were merciless—Nikhil Kadam was the pick of the pack with 3/32, while Vicky Ostwal (2/16) and Tanay Sanghvi (2/21) shared key breakthroughs to break the Bappa top order.

With this win, Raigad Royals stormed into the MPL 2025 Final, setting up a high-octane championship clash against Eagle Nashik Titans. The stage is now ready for a blockbuster finale at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, where the two best teams of the league will battle it out for supremacy.

With this disciplined victory, ENT became the first team to qualify for the grand finale of MPL 2025.

Puneri Bappa Innings

Puneri Bappa, after being required to bat first, scored 153/8 in their 20 overs. Rushikesh Sonavne staged the innings in addition to a calm 67 off 52 deliveries, keeping the side intact while Murtaza Trunkwala (28 off 21) and Suraj Shinde (22 off 16) contributed handy cameos. Though with good beginnings, PB could not escape thanks to relentless blows from the bowlers of the Titans—skipper Prashant Solanki was the leader of the pack with a fine 3/23, ably aided by Akshay Waikar (2/21) and Mukesh Choudhary (2/33), holding Bappa under par on a conducive batting track.

Eagle Nashik Titans Innings

In response, Eagle Nashik Titans easily pursued the 154-run target, gliding to 157/2 in 17.2 overs. Mandar Bhandari was the perfectionist with the bat, thumping a free-scoring 58 from 40 balls. He was ably supported by Sahil Parakh (38 from 24) and Ranjeet Nikam, who sealed the deal with an unbeaten 33 from a mere 16 balls. The top order of the Titans never looked under pressure, dominating right through.

In a thrilling encounter at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, Raigad Royals won a close 2-run (DLS method) victory over Satara Warriors in Match 25 of the 2025 Maharashtra Premier League (MPL). The rain-disrupted match was cut down to 10 overs per team, and the excitement and drama were piled on as both teams fought tooth and nail for valuable points from the league phase. With playoff hopes mounting, Raigad was able to keep their cool in a game where margins were paper-thin.

Raigad Royals Innings

Batting first after Satara chose to field, Raigad Royals scored 85/3 in their 10 overs. Siddhesh Veer consolidated the innings with a strong 33 off 23 deliveries, aided by Digvijay Patil, who added 16 off 18. While the Royals kept wickets in hand, they couldn't fully accelerate at the death, with tight overs from Rajvardhan Hangargekar (1/21), Shubham Maid (0/6 from 1 over), and Shamshuzama Kazi (0/10) limiting the total below par.

Satara Warriors Innings & DLS Drama

Pursuing a new DLS target of 93, Satara Warriors were well in line due to a 45 off 24 by Harshal Kate. Vaibhav Chougalle (16 off 9) and Saurabh Nawale (9 off 9) helped lower down the order, and Satara launched a strong challenge. However, a middle-order collapse orchestrated by Tanay Sanghvi (3/25), Shubham Kadam (1/9), and Nikhil Kadam (1/11) brought it to a stop. Even though they ended on 91/8 from 10 overs—technically ahead of Raigad's 85/3—the DLS system had assigned them a marginally more challenging target. Thus, the Raigad Royals were the victors by 2 runs in an edge-of-the-seat finish. This win gave Raigad valuable points in the league table, while Satara was left distraught by the slimmest of margins and the heartless twist of DLS calculations.

In Match 19 of the 2025 Maharashtra Premier League (MPL), played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, Satara Warriors (STW) achieved a rain-reduced win over Ratnagiri Jets (RJ) by 14 runs (DLS method). Satara Warriors chose to bowl first and restrained RJ to a small total. Their aggressive beginning with the bat put them in front of the DLS par score before the rain shortened the match.

Ratnagiri Jets (RJ) Innings

Batting first, Ratnagiri Jets scored 146/9 in 20 overs. Kiran Chormale scored the highest with a mature 52 off 41 balls, while Abhishek Pawar contributed a quick 25 off only 10 deliveries to accelerate the scoring in the death overs. The lower half of the batting order couldn't offer much resistance. Satara Warriors bowled with restraint—Rajvardhan Hangargekar was the pick of the bowlers with 3/14 in 4 overs and was well complemented by Vaibhav Chougalle (2/18) and Samadhan Pangare (2/29) to restrict the Jets to a paltry total.

Satara Warriors (STW) Innings

Satara Warriors, in response, were going along at 116/4 in 14.4 overs when rain came into the picture. Pavan Shah led the charge in the chase with a quick 45 off 22 balls, while Aniket Porwal added 27 off 24. Anirudh Sable contributed 17 off 14 as STW remained handsomely above the DLS par score. Despite a spirited effort by RJ's Satyajeet Bachhav (3/13), the top-order momentum of the Warriors was sufficient to win the game by 14 runs under the DLS system, keeping their campaign alive in style.

They had a couple of small contributions to add to the total from Aniket Porwal, 26 off 25 balls, and the aggressive Harshal Kate, with 25 off 17 balls. Pavan Shah contributed a steady 23 off 24, but the regularity of wickets kept hurting STW with their momentum. The ENT bowlers kept it very tight, and Prashant Solanki, the captain, took a game-changing 4/19 from his 4 overs and had great support from Rohan Damle 2/21 and Mukesh Choudhary 2/32 to dismiss the Warriors at a modest total.

Eagle Nashik Titans (ENT) Innings

Pursuing 116, Eagle Nashik Titans reached the target in 16.5 overs at 118/7. Despite losing wickets at a quick pace, Mandar Bhandari stabilized the chase with a sedate 22 off 22, and Siddhant Doshi chipped in with 21 off 17. Ranjeet Nikam's winning 18 off 13 put it in the bag towards the end. In spite of a gritty comeback by STW's bowlers—Vivek Shelar (2/33) and Rajvardhan Hangargekar (2/38) broke through—ENT crossed the line. This dogged victory guaranteed two precious points for Eagle Nashik Titans from the league stage.

Batting first, Raigad Royals piled up a huge 216/5 in their allotted 20 overs. The pick of the innings was Siddhesh Veer's hundred—a 104 off 62 balls, dotted with clean strikes all around the ground. Omkar Khatpe contributed a 19-ball 30 and Ajay Borude contributed 27 off mere 10 balls during the death overs. In spite of the scoring innings, ENT bowlers demonstrated glimpses of fight—Prashant Solanki was the best among them with 2/37 from his 3 overs, Mukesh Choudhary also claimed 2 wickets but was not economical (2/42 in 4), and Yogesh Dongare added 1/43 to his name.

Eagle Nashik Titans Innings

In response, Eagle Nashik Titans were 135/4 in 13.4 overs when rain interrupted play, and there was a DLS calculation. ENT were 5 runs short of the par score. Sahil Parakh's aggressive 47 off 20 gave them a flying start, and Arshin Kulkarni (38 off 24) and Rohan Damle (34 off 23) kept them in the hunt. Raigad Royals' bowlers, though, stood firm. Tanay Sanghvi took a crucial spell (2/22 in 2 overs), and Vicky Ostwal (1/22 in 2.4 overs) and Sagar Jadhav (1/24 in 3 overs) backed well to limit the chase at the nick of time. With this win, Raigad Royals gained an important 2 points from a high-voltage match curtailed by weather.
