As Indian Premier League (IPL) teams move on from the auction to squad planning, focus has now shifted to the Registered Available Player Pool, also called RAPP. Many fans do not talk much about this list, but it is very important. It helps teams choose replacement players after the auction is over.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared a list of 1,307 players with all IPL teams. These players took part in the auction held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi but were not sold. If a team needs a replacement during the season, they can only pick a player from this list.

The RAPP (Registered Available Player Pool) list includes many well-known international players. Former Australia captain Steve Smith, England players Reece Topley, Jamie Smith and Jonny Bairstow, and New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell are part of the list. Mitchell, who recently won the Player of the Series award in the ODI series between India and New Zealand, is listed at number 98 with a base price of Rs 2 crore.

Several Indian players with international experience are also included. Mayank Agarwal, KS Bharat, Deepak Hooda, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Sandeep Warrier and Umesh Yadav are among the Indian players in the list. Each of them has a base price of Rs 75 lakh.

Rules for Using the RAPP

The BCCI has shared strict rules for using the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP). Teams are not allowed to sign a replacement player for a price lower than the player’s reserve price set before the auction. Teams can also hire players from the RAPP as net bowlers during the season, but this does not give them any special rights to sign those players later.

Why Is the RAPP Important?

Kolkata Knight Riders are currently searching for a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman after the Bangladesh fast bowler was released from the squad. Since the auction is over, the three-time champions can only choose a new player from the RAPP list.

During IPL 2025, the Chennai Super Kings made several changes to their squad because of injuries to players. To fill those spots, they also had to use the RAPP list to select replacement players.

Surfers could be the solution for India in the middle overs in the white bulb format thanks to his incredible skill of nailing the spinners which a rare prospect in the current Indian side. Mumbai completed a massive victory against Goa in that VHT fixture.

Having already celebrated a century against Chandigarh in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, he repeated the feat against Assam in a massive chase of 309 runs.

Juyal remained unbeaten on 150 in one 40 balls at a strike rate of more than 107 with the help of 15 boundaries and three sixes as Uttar Pradesh won the game by 58 runs through the VJD method.

 Mayank Agarwal, the veteran in domestic cricket, who has already featured for India in the longest format has been in sensational touch in this year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) as he smashed a fine knock of 132 in 124 balls at a strike rate of over 106 with the help of 15 fours and a pair of sixes at the opening spot for Karnataka against Puducherry.

Along with him, Devdutt Pat also clubbed a fine knock off 113 in 116 balls at a strike rate of nearly hundred with the help of ten boundaries and four sixes fired up Karnataka to 363 in the allotted 50O words before they completed the victory by 67 runs.

Mayank Agarwal saved the day for Yorkshire against Durham in a County Championship match at Headingley Carnegie. The RCB batter's timely century dragged the team into the competition after losing multiple wickets early.

Yorkshire lost one of their openers for only 9 runs, then a partnership between Agarwal and Adam Lyth bought in the counter-fight. Batting first, Durham scored 346 runs, which is a competitive total. After a strong second-wicket partnership, Yorkshire again started to lose their momentum as their two middle-order batters departed in a short time. Throughout the day, it was mostly about Mayank, who kept the fight on.

After the end of Day 2, Yorkshire is now trailing by only 32 runs and is expected to overcome the total set by Durham. The top-order Indian batter missed an opportunity to register a double hundred as he went back to the pavilion after making a magnificent 175 runs against 195 deliveries. His innings was laced with twenty 4s and five 6s. Though, he was not fully satisfied with his brilliant batting. The batter was a little bit stretchy during the initial stage, which annoyed him pretty much.

Mayank Agarwal's century reduced the difference 

"Very honestly, my innings didn’t start smoothly. They were very disciplined. We didn’t get many loose balls. They were at us, and credit to them for that," Agarwal stated at the end of the day as the White Rose was 314-5 in their first innings.

"Then it was just about giving them their dues, looking to watch out for their spells, and then seeing if we could dominate. I thought my partnership with Adam (Lyth) was crucial. We just fed off each other’s energy and fed off each other’s confidence. Once we did that, we put ourselves in a good position." 

Bengaluru Blasters showcased excellent form in this tournament, winning three out of their five matches and currently hold the second position in the points table with six points. They won their last match by three wickets against strong Mangaluru Dragons using VJD method.

On the other hand, Mysore Warriors are struggling, having won just one match and currently stand in fourth position in the points table with four points. Their last match was abandoned due to rain.
