MLC 2025 – Match 19: Washington Freedom Beat San Francisco Unicorns by 12 Runs to Reach Playoffs

In Match 19 of the 2025 Major League Cricket season at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas, Washington Freedom played an important match with San Francisco Unicorns. It was an important game to reach a playoff spot. Washington won the toss and chose to bat first. They played well with both bat and ball to win by 12 runs and secure their place in the playoffs after winning this crucial game.

Batting first, Washington scored 169 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Glenn Phillips was the top scorer with 58 runs from 39 balls. Jack Edwards also did well with 42 runs. Obus Pienaar added quick runs at the end with 30 from just 12 balls.
For San Francisco, Xavier Bartlett bowled very well, taking 4 wickets for 32 runs. Romario Shepherd and Haris Rauf took one wicket each.

In Match 20 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season, the Seattle Orcas registered a stunning run chase to beat the Los Angeles Knight Riders by five wickets at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas. Though the Knight Riders produced a solid batting performance, Seattle's ferocious chase, spearheaded by Aaron Jones and Shimron Hetmyer, turned out to be the game-changer.

Batting first, Los Angeles Knight Riders gave a good 202/4 in their 20 overs. Andre Russell scored a dominating 65 off 39 balls, ably supported by Rovman Powell (43 off 21) and Saif Badar (41 off 21), who added a late flourish.
Seattle's bowling had little bite apart from Waqar Salamkheil, who took 2/29. In response, Orcas pursued the target in 19.5 overs, with Aaron Jones hammering 73 from 38 and Shimron Hetmyer blasting 64 off 26. Shayan Jahangir contributed a useful 43 from 31 to take them to 206/5. Jason Holder and Tanveer Sangha took two wickets each for L.A., but they secured their second win


Following this outcome, the Seattle Orcas register their second win of the season and move up to fourth place on the points table with 4 points, with LAS stuck at the bottom with 2 points. In match 19, Washington Freedom defeated San Francisco Unicorns by 12 runs, securing their spot in the playoffs.

Mitchell Owen’s All-Round Brilliance Powers Washington to Last-Over Win

In Match 13 of MLC 2025, Washington Freedom won a thrilling win over Texas Super Kings at Grand Prairie Stadium. After choosing to bowl first, Washington chased down a big target with just two balls left, winning by 7 wickets.

Texas Super Kings batted first and scored a strong total 220/6. Captain Faf du Plessis was in top form, smashing 69 runs off just 31 balls. He got support from Marcus Stoinis scored 32 runs and Milind Kumar 31 runs in 18 balls, who helped build a big total.


But Washington kept things in check, thanks to Mitchell Owen, who bowled well and took 3 wickets for 33 runs. Glenn Maxwell chipped in with 2 wickets, and Rachin Ravindra also got one.

Washington came out swinging in the chase.
Mitchell Owen was the hero again, this time with the bat. He scored a match-winning 89 from 52 balls, staying calm under pressure. Andries Gous gave great support, hitting a classy 80 off 45 balls to set up the win. Glenn Maxwell finished things off with a quick-fire 20 as Washington reached 223/3 in 19.4 overs, sealing the game in style. For Texas, Adam Milne tried hard with 3 wickets for 42 runs, but the other bowlers couldn’t stop the flow of runs.

Washington Freedom won the toss and decided to bowl first. Despite a competitive total from Texas, Washington chased down the target in dramatic fashion with 7 wickets and two balls remaining.

Texas Super Kings put up a solid 220/6 in their 20 overs, with their captain, Faf du Plessis, providing a blistering 69 off 31 balls. He had useful contributions from Marcus Stoinis, who scored 32 off 24 balls, and Milind Kumar, who scored a brisk 31 off 18 balls. But it was Washington's Mitchell Owen who was the difference-maker with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 33 in his 3 overs. Glenn Maxwell also contributed 2/35 in 4 overs, and Rachin Ravindra took 1/30 in 3 overs to contain the scoring.

He was well complemented by wicketkeeper Andries Gous, who hit a smooth 80 from 45 deliveries. Glenn Maxwell also added a useful 20 off 12 to wrap up the chase. Though Texas Super Kings bowlers attempted to put pressure, Adam Milne's 3/42 was the best bowling effort, with others contributing little support.
