Run-out can be crazy and out of carelessness, and such was the situation when Mohammed Nawaz fell short of the crease in a hilarious way during the Super 4 clash of India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium during the 2025 season of the Asia Cup, as the commentators couldn’t say what they perhaps wanted.

Coaches can teach one how to bat, bowl, or field in certain situations, but not being careless in taking runs and being present in the field is the job of the batter. Such was the case with Mohammed Nawaz, the Pakistan left-handed batter, during the penultimate over of the innings of Jasprit Bumrah.

Nawaz tapped the ball into the point region and set for a single. But he couldn’t as the fielder made a shy at the stumps. On the rebound, another fielder threw it at Nawaz’s end after the left-handed batter strolled back to his crease. By the time he put his bat inside the line, the ball hit the bails, and as the rule suggested, it got dismissed for 21 runs in 19 balls with one four and one six.

In the batting department of the Pakistan side, only their opener, Sahibzada Farhan, played a crucial knock of 58 runs in 45 balls at a strike rate of 128.89 with the help of five boundaries and three over boundaries. Saim Ayub got 17 runs while Faheem Ashraf provided them with the late finish for unbeaten 20 runs in eight balls.

Shivam Dube was the peak of the bowlers with figures of 2/33 in four overs, while Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya also picked up one wicket each. It was a rare off day for Jasprit Bumrah, who ended with figures of 0/45 in four overs.

In reply, India went off to a flying start with 45 runs coming before the completion of five overs. Abhishek Shamra was the main aggressive batter of the innings with 25 runs in 14 balls, while Shubman Gill was on 23 in 13 balls by the last update of the scorecard.

<![CDATA[[WATCH] Mohammed Nawaz creates history to record T20I hat-trick during Tri-series 2025 final against Afghanistan]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-mohammed-nawaz-creates-history-to-record-t20i-hat-trick-during-tri-series-2025-final-against-afghanistan/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-mohammed-nawaz-creates-history-to-record-t20i-hat-trick-during-tri-series-2025-final-against-afghanistan/ Mon, 08 Sep 2025 11:09:03 GMT

When Pakistan posted 141/8 in their allotted 20 overs of the first innings during the final of the Tri-series 2025 against Afghanistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, many predicted the Rashid Khan-led side to chase down the target quite comfortably in the second innings. But the surface looked a bit tired, helping the spinners to grip the ball, making it harder to score.

On the fifth delivery of the last over of the powerplay, Mohammed Nawaz picked up the wicket of Darwish Rasooli on a five-ball duck. It was a tossed-up delivery from the left-arm spinner as the batter tried to work it across the line and was struck on the pads. The bowler’s appeal convinced the umpire to raise his finger.

On the very next delivery, Nawaz bagged the wicket of Azmatullah Omarzai. It was a pitched-up delivery by the spinner as the batter went for a cut straightaway. But he got an outside edge, and Mohammed Haris completed a sharp catch behind the stumps. The nick was loud and clear for the umpire to lift his finger.

On the opening delivery of the seventh over, Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, put up a strong fielding set-up. On nine runs off 15 balls, Ibrahim Zadran got drawn forward to the ball and was beaten on the edge as Haris whipped the bails in a jiffy to find the right-handed batter short of his crease.

Nawaz became the third Pakistan bowler to record a T20I hat-trick. He also became the first spinner of the country to reach the milestone, joining Mohammed Hasnain and Faheem Ashraf. The left-arm spinner ended with a fine figure of 5/19 in four overs, including a maiden to bowl out the opponents for 66 runs in 15.5 overs.

It’s an inspiring victory for the Green Brigade, who will now shift their sharp attention to the Asia Cup. Their most anticipated clash of the event will be against India on September 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
