In Match 17 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) campaign, Washington Freedom registered a nail-biting 5-wicket victory over Los Angeles Knight Riders at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas. Having chosen to bowl first, Washington witnessed LKR compiling an imposing 213/4 due to a brilliant century from Andre Fletcher, who made 104 from 60 balls. Unmukt Chand contributed 41 off 30, and Andre Russell played a 30 off 13 destructive finish. Ian Holland was the best bowler for Washington with figures of 2/25 in 3 overs.

In pursuit of 214, Washington Freedom were driven by a scorching start by Mitchell Owen (43 off 16), before Glenn Maxwell (42 off 23) and Glenn Phillips (33 off 23) steadied the innings in the middle. In spite of some late hiccups, the Freedom kept their cool to get to the target in 20 overs. Tanveer Sangha's 2/35 offered some resistance, but not enough. With this victory, Washington moved to 10 points, surpassing Texas to reach second place in the table, and LKR stayed fifth with one win from six games.
