The Bangladesh team is going to Pakistan to play a T20 series. However, pacer Nahid Rana, who was in the squad, will not be going with the team. He is currently on a tour of the United Arab Emirates with the Bangladesh team and will return home from there.

Today in Mirpur, BCB’s Head of Cricket Management, Nazmul Abedin, confirmed that the 22-year-old pacer will not travel to Pakistan. Nazmul Abedin said that if someone experienced an incident like the one that recently happened in Pakistan, it could have a mental impact. He mentioned that it was unfair to blame Nahid Rana or Rishad for feeling disturbed and suggested that this was probably why Nahid had withdrawn.

“If someone faces an incident like what recently happened in Pakistan, it can affect them mentally. It’s not fair to blame Nahid Rana or Rishad for feeling disturbed. That’s probably why he (Nahid) has withdrawn himself,” Nazmul Abedin said.

However, even though Nahid is not going, Rishad, who was with him on the same tour, is going to Pakistan. Nahid and Rishad had gone to Pakistan last month to play in the PSL. In early May, the tournament was stopped when India and Pakistan were involved in attacks. During this time, there was also a drone attack near the Rawalpindi Stadium, where Nahid’s team, Peshawar and Rishad’s team, Lahore Qalandars were scheduled to play.

Bangladesh are currently playing UAE

After the PSL was postponed, both players returned to Bangladesh. Later, they went to the UAE with the Bangladesh team for a three-match T20 series. After finishing the series, the Bangladesh team will leave for Pakistan on May 25. However, Nahid Rana and two coaching staff members—strength and conditioning coach Nathan Kelly and fielding coach James Payment—will not travel to Pakistan.

The BCB has also confirmed that no replacement will be named for Nahid Rana in the squad. Meanwhile, left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who left the UAE series in the middle to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will rejoin the national team for the Pakistan tour.
