Match summary

DPL 2025 Match 13 at Arun Jaitley Stadium was another victory for Purani Dilli-6, this time over the New Delhi Tigers. Purani Dilli-6, which batted first, had a pretty decent score with the bat; their upper order were the main starters with some brisk contributions with the bat. Their bowling was led by U Mohan, who was accurate and picked up a few wickets at apt intervals. The New Delhi Tigers, who were chasing, started off their innings quite well, but with an effective squeeze in the middle overs and relentless pressure in the field, their flow was broken. Ultimately, they fell short of the target, as they did have a solid motive to win the game quite late in the final over. The victory was significant for Purani Dilli-6 to help them gain further ground on the mid-table team in the points tally.

<![CDATA[Top 3 reasons why New Delhi Tigers lost to Purani Delhi 6 in DPL 2025 match 13]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-3-reasons-why-new-delhi-tigers-lost-to-purani-delhi-6-in-dpl-2025-match-13/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-3-reasons-why-new-delhi-tigers-lost-to-purani-delhi-6-in-dpl-2025-match-13/ Fri, 08 Aug 2025 23:26:48 GMT

In the 13th game of the Delhi Premier League 2025, Purani Delhi 6 defeated New Delhi Tigers by 10 runs in a thrilling match. PD6 set a target of 200/6 for 20 overs, with Samarth Seth scoring 80 runs off 46 balls and Pranav Pant contributing 46 runs off 36 balls. Vansh Bedi (31 off 9) provided a late onslaught that lifted the total to a challenging mark. The Tigers fought valiantly in the chase as Vaibhav Rawal (62 off 35) led the charge, but they finally ended up on 190/7, just a run short. Below are the key reasons why the New Delhi Tigers lost the match:

1. Purani Delhi 6’s Commanding Total

Samarth Seth was very fluent in his innings and scored 80 off 46 balls, while Pranav Pant ensured the innings kept going with 46 off 36 balls. In the death overs, Vansh Bedi exploded with 31 off just 9 balls, taking PD6 from a good score to a formidable 200/6. The Tigers’ bowlers, despite Pankaj Jaswal’s 3/28 and Prince Yadav’s 2/34, could not prevent the late surge that tilted momentum firmly in PD6’s favor.

2. Missed Middle-Overs Bowling Control

The Tigers were able to get some wickets early but could not stop the run flow from 7 to 15 overs. During this time, PD6 kept on rebuilding steadily before mounting their final assault. The bowlers kept up with Parth Kumar Bali (1/35) trying to make things difficult, but some expensive overs in the middle gave PD6 a platform to really cash in during the last five overs, scoring around 15-20 runs above a par total.

3. Lack of a Big Partnership in the Chase

With Vaibhav Rawal’s fluent 62 off 35 balls and Shivam Gupta’s aggressive 39 off 24 the Tigers were still in contention, while the skipper, Himmat Singh, added 30 off 17. On the other hand, the team was missing a big, match-deciding partnership to stabilize the chase. PD6’s bowlers, with Udhav Mohan (2/29) and Rajneesh Dadar (2/31) at the forefront, were able to take wickets regularly; hence, they were able to increase the required run rate and slowly put an end to the Tigers race.

Maintaining their strong form, Purani Dilli 6 (PD) in the Delhi Premier League 2025 fetched a scintillating 10-run win against the New Delhi Tigers at the contrary edge, with scores of 200 plus being posted from either side at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The New Delhi Tigers revived well in the latter half of their innings, but PD stopped them with some stereotypically fine bowling in the death.

Purani Dilli 6 Innings: 200/6 in 20 overs

PD started off at a dream pace with the fireworks from Samarth Seth, who hammered an explosive 80 off 46 balls that included 5 fours and 6 sixes, hence laying all the dust for PD to desire. Pranav Pant, 46 off 36, kept up the momentum, while late cameos by Aarush Malhotra (15 off 12), Lalit Yadav (10 off 8), and V. Bedi (31 off 9) helped get the total over 200.

The NDT bowlers had their work cut out trying to contain PD's aggression, with only Pankaj Jaswal shining through with his figures of 3/28 in 4 overs.

PD key batting performances:

 • Samarth Seth – 80 (46)
 • Pranav Pant – 46 (36)
 • V Bedi—31(9)

NDT key bowling performances:

 • Pankaj Jaswal – 3/28 (4)
 • Prince Yadav – 2/34 (4)
 • Parth Bali – 1/35 (3)

New Delhi Tigers Innings: 190/7 in 20 Overs

Visiting 201, Nishant seemed to know he could not trust the star of the XI, as Dhruv Kaushik would out of nowhere get run out without facing the first ball of the game. Lost at 0-1, but Shivam Gupta (39 off 24) and captain Himmat Singh (30 off 17) made the score somewhat respectable during the power play by being aggressive and taking the game to Pardeep (slow ball, flight ball). Vaibhav Rawal hammered the ball all around the ground for a blistering 62 in just 35 balls, but his wicket in the 19th over proved costly for the Tigers.

Certainly, PD bowlers learned not to panic under pressure, and Udhav Mohan's 2/29 and Pardeep Parashar's 1/34 were key wickets. Particularly Yug Gupta's economical spell of 1/3 in the powerplay laid a dry opportunity for the bowlers throughout the Tigers' innings.

NDT Batting Statistical Highlights:

 • Vaibhav Rawal – 62 (35)
 • Shivam Gupta – 39 (24)
 • Himmat Singh – 30 (17)

PD Bowling Statistical Highlights:

 • Udhav Mohan – 2/29 (4)
 • Yug Gupta – 1/3 (1)
 • Rajneesh Dadar – 1/32 (4)

New Delhi Tigers and Purani Dilli 6 are scheduled for the 13th match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 at 7:00 PM IST on August 8. The Tigers got off to a slow start in the tournament, managing to win just one in three matches so far, and they are currently placed sixth on the points table. One would expect captain Himmat Singh to cash in on a turnaround as the team tries to ride some momentum in the tournament.

In the same manner, Purani Dilli 6 could also win only one match from the three they played, and they are in a similar position. Since both sides are struggling to establish their consistency, this contest becomes a crucial opportunity to get back on track and keep their playoff hopes alive.
