It has been almost a week since IPL 2025 wrapped up with a new champion in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The Rajat Patidar-led side won the final and lifted their maiden IPL trophy by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by only 6 runs.

Kings batter Nehal Wadhera can't forget the night; even today he blames himself for the loss PBKS suffered. In a fresh conversation, the middle-order batter expressed the emotions he is containing in his heart from that night when PBKS lost by only 6 runs.

Batting first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 190 on the scoreboard thanks to Virat Kohli's forty-plus runs and some cameos in the middle order. PBKS started the innings well with Priyansh Arya, but soon a stunning catch near the boundary rope by Phil Salt tilted the momentum of the high-octane match. And it was not Virat or Rajat Patidar; it was Krunal Pandya's tight bowling that couldn't allow Punjab batters to score runs in a quick manner.

That night was for RCB

Nehal, who is known for his hard hitting, could not push the paddles at the right time to speed up the run rate. The southpaw scored just 15 (18) with a lone six. Supporters of PBKS criticized the batters, including Wadhera, for batting with a relatively slow run rate. Only Shashank Singh's brilliant innings of 61 (30) kept the relevance in the battle. But that was not enough to chase 190.

Blaming himself, Nehal Wadhera said, "I totally blame myself for the IPL 2025 Final. If I had played better, we could've won the IPL. Earlier in the tournament, when I had to accelerate, I did it, and it paid off except for the last game."

Apart from the final match, Wadhera had a decent run in IPL 2025, scoring 369 runs in 16 innings.

<![CDATA[[WATCH] IPL 2025: Nehal Wadhera brilliant catch dismisses Rohit Sharma in PBKS vs MI match]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2025-nehal-wadhera-brilliant-catch-dismisses-rohit-sharma-in-pbks-vs-mi-match/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2025-nehal-wadhera-brilliant-catch-dismisses-rohit-sharma-in-pbks-vs-mi-match/ Mon, 26 May 2025 20:57:00 GMT

Nehal Wadhera produced one of the best catches of the season to dismiss a well-settled Rohit Sharma. After losing Ryan Rickelton's wicket in the beginning of the 6th over, it was Rohit Sharma who held one side of the wicket, and Suryakumar Yadav tended to play his natural game.

When it looked all settled for Mumbai Indians, a pair of Surykumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma were comfortably driving MI's innings, and Punjab Kings' Harpreet Brar did the damage. Sharma went for a biggie against a floating delivery of Brar; the connection between the ball and the bat was not connected well.

Thus, instead of clearing the boundary line, the ball was about to touch the ground well inside the rope. In the meantime, Wadhera, from long on, runs quite a bit in front and takes a very good low catch while tumbling forward. Rohit departs on 24 (21), and then the Mumbai Indians' score was 81/2.

Harpreet Brar is showing his true colors in this edition of IPL

Harpreet Brar was an underrated pick for Punjab Kings. Unlike the star status of Yuzvendra Chahal, Barar, despite being a member of PBKS for 7 IPL seasons, his stats are far away from crazy and contributed to a limited number of matches. But in this season, he took his performance to another level.

In 7 IPL 2025 matches so far, the spinner has claimed 10 wickets, with an 8.52 economy rate. In his last four matches with PBKS, the Meerut-born cricketer claimed 7 wickets. As Punjab progressed for the playoffs, expectations will be higher from Harpreet Brar.

Talking about this match, Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to bat first. Punjab Kings team did not have a great start and opener Priyansh Arya was dismissed by Tushar Pandey after scoring nine runs in seven balls. After this, Mitch Owen, who came to bat at number three, also returned to the pavilion without opening the account. Prabhsimran Singh played an innings of 21 runs in 10 balls in this match. Whereas Shreyas Iyer could score only 30 runs in 25 balls. But the real story happened during the batting of Nehal Vadera and Shashank Singh. Because both the players made a great partnership of 58 runs in 33 balls in this match for the fifth wicket. After that there was a partnership of 60 runs in 24 balls between Shashank Singh and Azmatullah Omarzai.

Nehal Vadera played an innings of 70 runs

Talking about Punjab Kings, in this match Nehal Vadera played an innings of 70 runs in just 37 balls with the help of five fours and five sixes. Whereas Shashank Singh scored 59 runs in 30 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. Tushar Deshpande got two successes in this match.

Rajasthan Royals lost despite a great start

Chasing the target of 220 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi together gave Rajasthan Royals a stormy start of 76 runs in 4.4 overs. Then Vaibhav got out after scoring 40 runs in 15 balls with four fours and four sixes. After this, Yashasvi also scored 50 runs in 25 balls with nine fours and a six. But apart from these two, Sanju Samson (20) and Riyan Parag (13) could not do anything special. Rajasthan had lost four wickets for 144 runs and needed 55 runs in the last four overs i.e. 24 balls. During this, Dhruv Jurel took charge and was leading the team to victory by hitting a fifty.

Rajasthan needed 22 runs in the last over. While in the 19th over, Arshdeep Singh gave only six runs and made the match again for Punjab. Dhruv Jurel, who scored 52 runs in 29 balls, could not do anything in the end and got out on the third ball. This ended his innings of 53 runs with three fours and four sixes in 31 balls. After this, Marco Jansen also dismissed Hasranga on the fourth ball. Due to which Rajasthan team could score only 209 runs in 20 overs and lost by 10 runs. Harpreet Brar turned the tables by taking three wickets for Punjab and apart from him, Azmatullah Omarzai also took two wickets.

<![CDATA[[WATCH] IPL 2025: Nehal Wadhera takes on Wanindu Hasaranga for two eye pleasing sixes in RR vs PBKS clash]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-ipl-2025-nehal-wadhera-takes-on-wanindu-hasaranga-for-two-eye-pleasing-sixes-in-rr-vs-pbks-clash/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-ipl-2025-nehal-wadhera-takes-on-wanindu-hasaranga-for-two-eye-pleasing-sixes-in-rr-vs-pbks-clash/ Sun, 18 May 2025 17:22:01 GMT

The season of IPL 2025 has been filled with drama, skill, and moments to be remembered, and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) vs Punjab Kings (PBKS) match today provided one more such gem. The focus was on PBKS's young left-handed batsman Nehal Wadherawho stole the show with two beautiful sixes against the world-class Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga.

Arriving at a important point in the middle order of PBKS's innings, Wadhera was given the responsibility of steadying the innings as well as not letting the run rate fall. With Wanindu Hasaranga, one of the most deadly spinners in T20 cricket, to face, Wadhera had no qualms. On a surface providing some turn and grip, the young batsman's intention was evident — he wasn't going to allow the spinner to settle.

The initial six was a class in timing and footwork. Wadhera ran down the pitch, got to the height of the ball, and middled it cleanly over the long-on boundary. The shot exuded confidence and finesse, eliciting a huge roar from the crowd. It wasn't raw power — it was aggression draped in elegance.

Nehal Wadhera’s fearless hitting leaves Hasaranga and fans in awe

A few overs later, Wadhera struck again. Reading Hasaranga's variation beautifully, he got into position well in advance and played a powerful slog-sweep which launched the ball over deep midwicket. The timing was exquisite, the execution perfect. The shot not only earned six runs but also stunned Hasaranga briefly, making him re-think his lengths. These two instances were some of the best batting highlights of the game. Wadhera's aggression in the face of a bowler of Hasaranga's quality left fans as well as experts in awe. The internet soon went abuzz with videos of the two sixes, and many lauded the young boy for showing nerves of steel.

Nehal Wadhera, who has been gradually making a name for himself in the Indian domestic circuit and then in the IPL, continues to demonstrate that he can compete with the best of them. His capacity to deal with quality bowling attacks, particularly spinners, presents PBKS with an exciting middle-order option. As the league stage approaches its conclusion and each game turns into a must-win for playoff teams, efforts such as Wadhera's can prove to be a game-changer. For the moment, though, the audience can relax and relish the replays of those two enigmatic sixes — an ideal mix of skill, timing, and temperament.

Nehal Wadhera has been one of the bright spots for Punjab Kings this season, and during a special moment earlier in the tournament, he got to meet one of his cricketing idols Virat Kohli. The young PBKS batter recalled the memorable interaction he had with the RCB star during their clash at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Wadhera said he was left stunned when Kohli, even before the match started, greeted him warmly and in Punjabi.
“I was actually really shocked when before the match, Virat bhai was standing and talking to Shreyas Iyer, and suddenly said, ‘Ki haal chaal, Nehal?’ (How are you doing, Nehal?),” Wadhera recalled with a smile. “I wasn’t expecting him to remember my name. That made me really happy.”

Wadhera also mentioned that he had always dreamt of speaking to Kohli and would often tell his teammates like Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav about it. “Till last year, I used to tell either Tilak or Surya bhai that I really wanted to talk to Virat bhai once,” he said.

That dream came true this season. After the match, Wadhera walked up to Kohli and asked him for advice on how he could improve his game. “As soon as the match finished, I went up to him and asked, ‘Virat bhai, you’ve seen me for the last two years and this year what do you think?’”

Wadhera said the conversation was a real confidence-booster.
“It was really good talking to him and I enjoyed it a lot. His words reinforced my belief and helped me understand how to approach the game better,” the 24-year-old said. It's moments like these that show just how much a few kind words from a senior player can mean to a young cricketer trying to make his mark.

The IPL 2025 season is heating up, and as always, Virat Kohli finds himself right in the middle of the action. As the tournament reaches a critical stage, every match is beginning to feel like a mini-final. The clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) has quietly grown into a fierce rivalry. After PBKS outplayed RCB in their previous encounter, this fixture at the Kings’ home ground was seen as a golden opportunity for RCB to strike back and settle scores.

Fans across social media were buzzing with excitement ahead of the game, throwing around terms like “revenge” to describe the intense build-up. With both sides eyeing a spot in the playoffs, the stakes were higher than ever. PBKS began their innings strongly thanks to a decent start from openers Priyansh Arya (22) and Prabhsimran Singh (33). However, after the fall of the first wicket, the batting lineup struggled to maintain momentum as the RCB bowlers tightened their grip in the middle overs.

The match reached its turning point during the ninth over when a bizarre and hilarious mix-up between Josh Inglis and Nehal Wadhera led to a crucial runout. Both batters ended up stranded at the same end, and the RCB fielders were quick to capitalize. Virat Kohli, always sharp on the field, was at the center of the moment, celebrating passionately after Wadhera was sent back to the pavilion for just 5 runs off 6 balls. Kohli’s fiery reaction went viral, capturing the high stakes and tension of the budding PBKS-RCB rivalry.

PBKS batters succumbed under relentless RCB bowling

Punjab Kings managed 157/6 in their 20 overs, starting strong with a brisk opening partnership. Priyansh Arya scored 22 off 15 balls, while Prabhsimran Singh added 33 off 17, helping PBKS reach 62/2 early on. However, the middle order faltered with skipper Shreyas Iyer falling cheaply for 6. Nehal Wadhera’s stay was cut short due to a miscommunication with Josh Inglis, resulting in a run-out in the ninth over. Inglis remained the top scorer with a quick 29 off 17 balls before falling to Suyash Sharma.

The finishing touches were left to Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen, who added stability with unbeaten knocks of 31* and 25*, respectively. Despite their efforts, PBKS couldn’t accelerate in the death overs. Krunal Pandya was impressive with 2/20, while Suyash Sharma also struck twice. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled economically, but others like Hazlewood and Shepherd proved expensive. The early promise faded, leaving PBKS with a par total at best.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a five-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 34 of IPL 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, April 18. After RCB managed to post a modest total of 95 runs, PBKS chased it down successfully, thanks largely to Nehal Wadhera’s composed knock. Despite the low target, the chase wasn't entirely smooth, and Wadhera’s steady hand ensured PBKS crossed the finish line.

Wadhera anchored the innings during a shaky middle phase, finishing unbeaten on 33 off just 19 deliveries, including three fours and a six. His calm presence at the crease proved crucial in what could have been a tricky run chase. However, some frustrated RCB fans reacted poorly to the loss, reportedly directing online abuse toward Wadhera, especially through comments on his Instagram profile.

A video recently made its way online showing teammate Harpreet Brar on Instagram Live while the Punjab Kings squad was heading back from the stadium on the team bus. During the stream, Nehal Wadhera could be seen reading the live comments and remarked, “They’re abusing me, really abusing me in the comments section,” expressing surprise and a bit of disappointment at the harsh reactions from some viewers.

PBKS have jumped to second spot after win

RCB has struggled to capitalize on its home advantage this season, suffering its third loss at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With four more home matches remaining, they now face a tough road ahead. To secure a spot in the playoffs, RCB must win at least four of their remaining seven games. Despite posting a low total, RCB fought hard in the second innings, picking up five wickets, with excellent performances from Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

On the other hand, PBKS registered their fifth win of the season, climbing to second place in the IPL 2025 Points Table. With just three more wins needed to confirm their playoff spot, PBKS is in a strong position. It will be intriguing to see how they perform in the remaining matches of the tournament.

The 34th match of IPL 2025 was held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a solid victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 5 wickets. Chasing a modest target of 96 runs in a 14-over-per-side game, PBKS comfortably crossed the finish line with 11 balls remaining, marking their fifth win of the season. The game was initially delayed due to rain, leading to a reduced-over format that added a layer of urgency to the proceedings.

RCB, after being invited to bat first by PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer, struggled right from the start. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Phil Salt in the very first over, followed by Virat Kohli, who managed only a single run. Captain Rajat Patidar was the lone top-order batter to make a noticeable contribution, scoring 23 runs off 18 balls. The rest of the batting lineup failed to perform, with players like Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Kunal Pandya falling cheaply, leaving RCB at 63 for 9.

Amid the collapse, Tim David stood tall with a stunning unbeaten 50 off 26 balls, including five boundaries and three sixes, helping RCB reach a total of 95 in their 14 overs. For PBKS, the bowling unit delivered an impressive performance, with Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Harpreet Brar taking two wickets each, while Xavier Bartlett picked up one. The combined effort from the bowlers and a steady chase ensured a comfortable win for Punjab Kings in this rain-affected clash.

Punjab Kings had to struggle in the run chase

While chasing a modest target of 96 runs, Punjab Kings had a shaky start. Prabhsimran Singh was the first to fall, scoring 13 runs before being dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar with the team score at 22. Soon after, Priyansh Arya was sent back for 16 off 11 balls by Josh Hazlewood. Captain Shreyas Iyer also failed to leave a mark, managing just 7 runs before falling to Hazlewood as well. Josh Inglis added 14 runs off 17 balls, but the required momentum was still missing.

The tide turned when Nehal Wadhera stepped in and changed the game with a fiery knock. Wadhera smashed 33 runs off just 19 deliveries, laced with three boundaries and three towering sixes, effectively sealing the match for Punjab Kings. From the Royal Challengers’ bowling lineup, Hazlewood was the standout performer with 3 wickets for just 14 runs in his three overs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar chipped in with 2 wickets for 26 runs. Despite their efforts, Punjab's middle-order power proved too strong in the end.
