In Match 21 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, the United States of America registered a dominant 93-run victory over the Netherlands in Group A. Opting to bat first, USA posted an imposing 196/6 in their 20 overs, blending controlled aggression with timely acceleration. The Netherlands, faced with a steep chase, faltered under consistent bowling pressure and were dismissed for 103 in 15.5 overs. The comprehensive win not only earned USA crucial points but also significantly boosted their net run rate.

The foundation of USA’s total was laid by Saiteja Mukkamalla, who struck a fluent 79 off 51 balls, anchoring the innings through the middle phase. Captain Monank Patel provided early momentum with a brisk 36, while Shubham Ranjane delivered a late flourish, hammering an unbeaten 48 from just 24 deliveries. Their partnerships ensured a steady run flow throughout, particularly in the final overs where USA capitalized on scoring opportunities to push the total close to the 200-run mark.

In response, the Netherlands struggled from the outset as early wickets derailed their pursuit. Harmeet Singh spearheaded the bowling attack with a brilliant four-wicket haul, while Shadley van Schalkwyk claimed three crucial scalps to dismantle the middle and lower order. Brief resistance from Bas de Leede and Scott Edwards proved insufficient, as regular breakthroughs halted any recovery. The Dutch innings folded quickly, sealing a commanding and well-rounded triumph for USA in the tournament.

<![CDATA[USA crush Netherlands by 93 Runs in T20 World Cup 2026 after Mukkamalla’s 79 and Harmeet’s four-wicket haul]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-analysis/usa-crush-netherlands-by-93-runs-in-t20-world-cup-2026-after-mukkamalla-s-79-and-harmeet-s-four-wicket-haul/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-analysis/usa-crush-netherlands-by-93-runs-in-t20-world-cup-2026-after-mukkamalla-s-79-and-harmeet-s-four-wicket-haul/ Sat, 14 Feb 2026 22:02:28 GMT

In Match 21 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, the United States of America delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Netherlands by 93 runs in Group A. Batting first, USA piled up an imposing 196/6 in their 20 overs, showcasing aggressive stroke play and strong partnerships. In reply, the Netherlands struggled to cope with sustained bowling pressure and were bundled out for just 103 in 15.5 overs, handing USA a comprehensive victory and a significant boost to their net run rate.

USA’s innings was powered by a superb 79 off 51 balls from Saiteja Mukkamalla, who anchored the middle overs with authority and flair. Captain Monank Patel set the tone early with a brisk 36, while Shubham Ranjane provided the late acceleration, smashing an unbeaten 48 off just 24 deliveries. Their calculated aggression ensured the scoring rate never dipped, particularly in the death overs where USA capitalized on loose bowling to push close to the 200-run mark.

Despite Bas de Leede’s three-wicket haul, the Dutch bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs. Partnerships at crucial intervals kept USA in firm control throughout the innings. The 54-run stand between Mukkamalla and Ranjane proved especially decisive, as it shifted the momentum irreversibly. By the end of the first innings, the Netherlands were left chasing a daunting target, with the pressure squarely on their batting lineup to produce a near-perfect response.

Harmeet and Schalkwyk Dismantle Netherlands

The Netherlands’ chase began on a shaky note, losing early wickets that immediately dented their confidence. Harmeet Singh led the bowling charge brilliantly, claiming four wickets and breaking the backbone of the Dutch batting order. Shadley van Schalkwyk provided excellent support with three scalps, ensuring the pressure never eased. Regular breakthroughs prevented the Netherlands from building meaningful partnerships, and the required rate escalated rapidly beyond reach.

Only brief resistance came from Bas de Leede and Scott Edwards, but the lack of sustained partnerships proved costly. Mohammad Mohsin chipped in with two crucial wickets, tightening USA’s grip on the contest. As wickets continued to tumble, the Netherlands were bowled out for 103 well before the allotted overs. The emphatic 93-run triumph highlighted USA’s all-round strength and underlined their growing confidence in the tournament campaign.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 continues with the United States of America facing the Netherlands in Match 21 of Group A at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, February 13. The USA have endured a difficult start, suffering defeats to defending champions India in Mumbai and later to Pakistan in Colombo. With two losses from two matches, they now find themselves under immense pressure, making this clash a must-win encounter to keep their hopes of reaching the Super Eights alive.

The Netherlands have experienced a more balanced campaign so far. After losing a closely contested opener against Pakistan, they bounced back strongly with an impressive win over Namibia. That victory earned them valuable points and boosted their confidence heading into this fixture. With momentum on their side, the Dutch team will aim to secure another win and strengthen their position in the standings. A second group-stage triumph would significantly enhance their chances of progressing to the Super Eights.

The Netherlands and Namibia are set to clash in Match 10 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on February 10. This fixture marks the third Group A encounter of the tournament and carries added significance for both sides as they look to gain early momentum. With conditions in Delhi often favouring competitive contests, the match promises to be an important opportunity for the two associate nations to strengthen their position in a challenging group.

For the Netherlands, this will be their second outing of the tournament following a hard-fought opening match against Pakistan in Colombo. Led by Scott Edwards, the Dutch pushed the contest deep into the final over but eventually fell short against the Men in Green, leaving them eager to bounce back. Namibia, meanwhile, begin their World Cup campaign in Delhi after mixed warm-up results, including a win over Scotland and a heavy loss to India A, and will be determined to start on a positive note.

A highlight of the first match in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 between Pakistan & Netherlands in Colombo was a stunning moment of brashness from Michael Levitt, taking on Shaheen Afridi with a shot that left everyone in attendance shocked and buzzing when he hit Shaheen for a huge six. While the shot was an example of Levitt's aggressive approach on the biggest stage in cricket, it also helped produce an off-field incident when the six shattered the windscreen of a passing vehicle outside the ground, adding an extra dose of excitement to an already thrilling contest.

Following a short, banged-in delivery from Afriidi that was pitched around middle and off, Levitt had clearly read the length just before rocking back deeply in his crease to execute a beautifully timed pull shot. The pull shot from Levitt was hit with so much power that the ball sailed straight over deep square leg and out of the stadium without touching the roof. Some reports later confirmed that the ball travelled with such velocity that the resulting six smashed the windscreen of a vehicle driving past the ground at that precise moment. A picture of the initial shock reaction from Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha went viral on social media, taking this moment to the entire world.

Pakistan made the right choice by bowling first when winning the toss, given how well prepared the Colombo pitch was for bowling. The Dutch struggled to gain momentum with their innings, getting bowled out for 147 runs in only 19 overs and 5 balls. Scott Edwards top-scored with a fighting knock of 37 runs off 29 balls including three fours and one six. Pakistan's bowling attack shared the spoils amongst themselves, with Salman Mirza taking 3 wickets for 24 runs, Mohammad Nawaz/Saim Ayub/Abrar Ahmed all taking two wickets each.

Pakistan chase down target with three ball to spare

In response, Pakistan successfully chased down the target set by Netherlands scoring 148 runs for the loss of 7 wickets off a total of 19.3 overs to win the game and thereby take the first match of the tournament. Sahibzada Farhan anchored the innings at the beginning, scoring an impressive total of 47 runs off 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, allowing the team to remain on course during the majority of the tournament. Even though wickets kept falling at regular intervals, Farhan's steady hand made sure that Pakistan's run rate was never out of control, thus giving the team confidence to finish in style during the latter part of the innings.

Faheem Ashraf finished off the game with a phenomenal display of hitting, scoring 29 not out off 11 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes with a strike rate of 263.64. In terms of wickets for the Netherlands, Aryan Dutt and Paul van Meekeren each finished with 2 wickets. Pakistan now has 2 important points and will take on the USA in Colombo on the same day that the Netherlands meets Namibia in Delhi (February 10).

The Netherlands Women created history on Wednesday (January 28), as they secured their first qualification for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, which they secured in the Qualifier tournament.

From the Qualifier of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, four teams would earn the main competition tickets. On Wednesday, we saw the first two bookings from this tournament as Bangladesh Women and the Netherlands Women have qualified for the upcoming competition.

Just like the Bangladesh Women, the Dutch Women also needed a win on Wednesday to secure their spot for the upcoming T20 World Cup. After restricting the USA Women to 129/7 in 20 overs, the Netherlands Women scored 90/2 in 12 overs before the rain interruption and won the match by 21 runs in the DLS method.

<![CDATA[Netherlands captain Scott Edwards creates history, smashes 229 runs in a T20 match]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/netherlands-captain-scott-edwards-creates-history-smashes-229-runs-in-a-t20-match/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/netherlands-captain-scott-edwards-creates-history-smashes-229-runs-in-a-t20-match/ Sat, 13 Dec 2025 19:11:38 GMT

Scott Edwards produced one of the most remarkable innings ever seen in T20 cricket. The Netherlands captain smashed an unbeaten 229 runs off just 81 balls in a domestic T20 match played in Australia.

Edwards achieved the feat while representing Altona Sports Cricket Club in the Division One Clenzo Group Shield, an Australian first-grade T20 competition. The match was part of the fourth round of the tournament, where Altona faced Williams Landing Sports Club. The Clenzo Group Shield is organised by the Western Suburbs Churches and Community Cricket Association and features several competitive club teams.

Opening the batting, Edwards made a steady start with 11 runs in the first over. He accelerated in the fourth over, hitting three boundaries off fast-bowling all-rounder Prince Chouhan. Edwards reached his half-century in just 23 balls, scoring back-to-back sixes. At the halfway stage, he was one run short of a century. He later lost his opening partner, former Melbourne Stars player Lachlan Bangs, after the pair added 150 runs without loss by the 11th over. Edwards completed his hundred with a single, three balls after Bangs’ dismissal.

However, as first-grade cricket is not officially recognised as T20 cricket, the innings does not count as Edwards’ maiden T20 century, despite being one of the most extraordinary knocks at club level.

Edwards Powers Altona to Huge Total

Batting first, Altona posted a massive 304 for 2, with Scott Edwards completely dominating the innings. He reached his half-century in just 23 balls, brought up his century in the 11th over, and crossed 150 runs by the 17th over. The final overs were brutal for the bowlers, as Edwards smashed 12 sixes and 14 boundaries in the last four overs.

Chasing a target of 305 runs, Williams Landing were bowled out for 118, giving Altona a crushing 186-run victory.

Despite this stunning performance, Edwards is yet to score a century in international cricket in any format. His highest score in international T20s is 99, and he has also not registered a hundred in Tests or ODIs.

<![CDATA[Dutch bowler Vivian Kingma banned, faces suspension for ICC Anti-Doping breach]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/dutch-bowler-vivian-kingma-banned-faces-suspension-for-icc-anti-doping-breach/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/dutch-bowler-vivian-kingma-banned-faces-suspension-for-icc-anti-doping-breach/ Tue, 16 Sep 2025 22:06:48 GMT

Vivian Kingma, a fast bowler from the Netherlands, has been suspended for three months by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after testing positive for a recreational drug in an ODI match against the United Arab Emirates earlier this year.

The 30-year-old seamer provided an in-competition sample after the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 match in Utrecht, on May 12, 2025, which tested positive for Benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine. According to the ICC Anti-Doping Code, its presence in his system identifies him as having committed an anti-doping violation because it is classified as a Substance of Abuse.

Kingma accepted the charge and explained that he had taken the substance out of competition. While his admission did lead to Kingma avoiding a lengthier sanction, the ICC confirmed the violation and implemented a suspension.

Kingma will serve a period of ineligibility for three months from August 15, 2025. However, the suspension can be reduced to one month if Kingma completes a rehabilitation or treatment programme approved by the ICC. The ICC also confirmed that all of Kingma’s results from the ODI match on May 12, 2025, and all subsequent applicable matches, have been disqualified in accordance with the ICC Anti-Doping Code.

ICC suspension sidelines Netherlands seamer after positive test

Kingma has been a crucial component of the Dutch bowling attack since his international debut back in 2013. Although known for swinging the ball with the new ball, he has played ODIs and T20Is for the Netherlands, including appearances at major ICC tournaments. Kingma will be missed as the Dutch team tries to find its footing in the World Cup League 2 competition.

The entire case raises several questions on the ICC’s commitment to preserving the image of the game. In the case of recreational drugs, even if used outside competition, it is just as out of bounds in samples provided during international matches. The governing body mentions that education and knowledge are important to avoid when players think using recreational drugs is acceptable.

For Kingma, the potential return to the international game will now depend on completing the suspension and treatment course (if applicable). As the date of return is uncertain, the Dutch team will need to use other seamers to replace Kingma.

The race to gain qualification to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier has begun, with both Ireland and the Netherlands qualifying from the Europe region. The Netherlands qualified in style with a 65-run win over Germany, and they join Ireland as the two European countries that qualified for the next stage of the event.

Ireland made their mark in the European Qualifier, having won their first five matches in a row, which ensured they finished top. The Dutch kept their focus in a must-win match against Germany, knowing that a win would finish them in the top two, regardless of what happened in Italy's final game against Ireland. The performance showed how the women's game is growing in the Netherlands, and it is encouraging to see it consistently progressing.

European Teams Eye World Cup Berths After Qualifier Success

With these outcomes, Ireland and the Netherlands will now compete in the Global Qualifier, where a total of 10 teams will compete for 4 spots at the Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in England in 2026. Hey, now join Scotland and Bangladesh, who have already secured direct qualification for the qualifier as a result of being there in the 2024 edition of the tournament.

Other areas have also contributed a number of teams to the whole. The USA qualified from the Americas in March 2025, and Bhutan and Thailand qualified from the Asia Qualifier in May. The final three spots will come in upcoming regional tournaments in Africa and East Asia Pacific, and set the scene for a mix of teams for a competitive tournament.

The Global Qualifier is going to be an incredible tournament, with some established teams, as well as countries aspiring for a chance on the world stage. For Ireland and the Netherlands, getting to this point signifies their regional prowess and gives them a great opportunity to challenge themselves against stronger international opponents.

As anticipation builds from all parts of Europe, I know that European cricket fans will be paying attention to their teams' preparations and wishing these two teams further historical achievements to qualify for the Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
