Trent Rockets finished in the second position in the group stage of The Hundred 2025 with the help of six wins in eight fixtures. They faced third-ranked holder Northern Superchargers during the Eliminator of the competition at the Kennington Oval in South London. Rockets’ captain, David Willey, won the toss and decided to bowl first due to the wet weather for the game.

Ross Whiteley and Sam Cook got into the playing eleven of the Rockets as Max Holden Beh Sanderson got out of the side. For the Superchargers, Graham Clark came into the side with Michael Kyle-Pepper making his way out.

Northern Superchargers post 119/5 in rain-hit first innings

On the third ball of the innings, the Harry Brook-led side lost their inform opener, Zak Crawley, for a duck before Dawid Malan and wicket-keeper, Dan Lawrence, posted a fine partnership of fifty runs for the second wicket. The former drilled 29 runs in 19 balls with the help of two over boundaries and one four at a strike rate of over 150, while Lawrence cracked 44 runs in 31 balls at a strike rate of 141.94.

Captain Brook and Graham Clark couldn’t contribute much with the bat, while David Miller drilled 28 runs in just 10 deliveries at a strike rate of 280 with four sixes. They reached 119/5 in 75 balls during the first innings before the sky broke out, and the relentless rain forced the Superchargers to end their first innings earlier than they expected.

Trent Rockets progress to The Hundred 2025 final

It wasn’t a steady day for the dry weather in London. The three hours of rain took a significant amount of time out of the game, which was nearing its conclusion. After the last set of the restart, Tom Baton missed a wide opening delivery before the rain returned to take the players off.

Willey and Rockets wanted the game to end, given that they would automatically qualify for the final against the Oval Invincibles on August 31 at Lord’s in London. They again restrted the contest with the change of equation, but the rain returned again after four more deliveries. Due to the rain, the umpires called it off as Willey's army progress to the final.

Northern Superchargers Men suffered a heavy 57-run defeat against Manchester Originals Men in Match 17 of The Hundred 2025 at Old Trafford. Manchester, powered by Jos Buttler’s 64 and Heinrich Klaasen’s fiery 50 off 25, posted a strong 171/3 in their 100 balls. In reply, the Superchargers collapsed to 114 all out in 87 balls, with David Miller’s 38 being the only fight. Manchester’s bowlers dominated throughout as Northern Superchargers failed to build partnerships. Here are the main reasons why Northern Superchargers Men lost the match:

1. Manchester's Explosive Batting

The Originals' top order set the tone with Buttler's 64 anchoring the innings, whilst Klaasen's explosive 50 took just 25 balls. Rachin Ravindra added a quick 31 off 14, putting the score out of reach as they all put on an aggressive 171/3.

2. Clinical Bowling from the Originals

The Northern Superchargers were unable to withstand the pressures inflicted by Manchester's bowling attack. Josh Tongue (3/21) and Sonny Baker (3/21) rapidly fractured the Superchargers batting order with timely wickets, while Noor Ahmad and Rachin Ravindra grabbed another two wickets, leaving no opportunity to come back.

3. Superchargers’ Batting Failure

After a steady start from Malan and Crawley, the Superchargers were unable to put together any significant partnerships. David Miller's 38 off 22 was the only resistance, as most of the team were cheaply under the scoreboard's pressure. The inability to accelerate or handle pressure ensured a dramatic collapse.

Phoenix captain Liam Livingstone won the toss and chose to bowl, thinking the pitch would be better for batting later. David Miller came in for Graham Clark for the Superchargers, while Chris Wood replaced Dan Mousley for Phoenix.

Zak Crawley got the hosts off to a flying start with 45 runs from 23 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. Dawid Malan followed with a classy 58 from 34 balls, including seven boundaries and a six. Captain Harry Brook finished strong with 31 off 14 balls, and Dan Lawrence chipped in with 15 runs, helping the team post a big total of 193/5 in their 100 balls.

Phoenix had a terrible start, losing three wickets in the first 16 balls. Ben Duckett’s poor form continued, but Livingstone and Jacob Bethell fought back with an 80-run partnership.
