The second game of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 on June 14, 2025, at Oakland Coliseum, is an eagerly awaited encounter between MI New York (NY) and Texas Super Kings (TEX). MI New York, the 2023 MLC champions led by Kieron Pollard, are eager to kick off their campaign with a statement win after a mixed 2024 season where they scraped into the playoffs. Their run-battling power, fueled by Nicholas Pooran's fiery form and Q. de kock, will seek to overwhelm a Texas bowling unit that features Marcus Stoinis and Noor Ahmad.

Texas Super Kings, led by the experienced Faf du Plessis, arrive for the game with confidence, having bested MI New York in the 2024 season with two victories in their head-to-head matches. Their top batting order with Devon Conway and Faf du Plessis is equipped to make the most of the batting-friendly conditions that Oakland Coliseum promises. TSK's well-rounded team, strengthened by all-rounders Mitchell marsh and milind kumar provides them with an advantage in adjusting to the new drop-in pitch that will prove to be helpful to bowlers in the early going before rewarding batsmen. The coin toss may prove to be decisive, with teams batting first possibly gaining an advantage from the new surface.

This series marks a key milestone for MLC's growth to the U.S. West Coast, with Oakland Coliseum staging its inaugural high-level cricket matches. The 12,000-strong attendance is likely to develop into an electric environment, building the stakes for each team. MI New York will seek to use their experience of being champions, while Texas Super Kings, with their Chennai Super Kings legacy behind them, will seek to extend their reign over NY. This match is set to be high-intensity T20 cricket, featuring some of the world's top players in a historic facility, further increasing cricket's presence in the United States.

In a dominant opening clash of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season between Washington Freedom and San Francisco Unicorns at the Oakland Coliseum, California, Washington Freedom decided to bowl first. This was followed by a batting lesson and a comprehensive all-round show, with the Unicorns thrashing Washington Freedom by 123 runs to secure a convincing victory in Match 1 of the tournament.

San Francisco Unicorns Innings

Batting first in the MLC 2025 opener, the San Francisco Unicorns scored a staggering 269/5 in 20 overs, courtesy of a record knock by Finn Allen, who scythed his way to 151 runs from just 51 balls. His innings included a barrage of boundaries and sixes that destroyed the Washington bowling unit. He was iffy, supported by captain Hassan Khan (38 off 18) and Sanjay Krishnamurthy (36 off 20), which kept the run rate over 13. Washington bowlers had a bad day; however, Jack Edwards (2/39 in 4), Mitchell Owen (1/33), and Ian Holland (1/30) could manage to pick up some wickets.

Washington Freedom Innings

Chasing an enormous target, Washington Freedom collapsed under pressure, getting bowled out for 146 in 13.1 overs. Though Rachin Ravindra (42 off 17) and Mitchell Owen (39 off 20) attempted to stage a resistance, the rest of the team didn't support them. The bowlers of the Unicorns were clinical, topped by Haris Rauf (3/30 in 3.1 overs) and Hassan Khan (3/38 in 4 overs).
