Smriti Mandhana was in a tough spot post India’s Women’s World Cup 2025 victory against South Africa due to her relationship break-up with Palash Muchhal, but she overcame that with the victory in the Women’s Premier League (WPL)during the 2026 season against Delhi Capitals for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). It came after her marriage was called off with Palash.

Smriti Mandhana’s mother, Smita, shared one of the viral memes after the win, as the viral meme cheekily suggested that Smriti dismantled the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack in the WPL final as if she were seeing her ex’s face in every opposition bowler that she smashed out of the park. Smita reposted the meme from her private Instagram account.

Mandhana and Palash had been in a long-term relationship and were set to get married on November 23. But a day before his wedding, it was announced that the program had been called off, due to the ill health of Smriti’s father. Soon after, more serious allegations emerged as the childhood friend of the Indian players accused Palash of infidelity a day before the ceremony.

In the WPL 2026 final, Smriti smashed a fine knock of 87 runs in 41 balls at a strike rate of 212.50 with the help of 12 boundaries and three sixes, while their number three, Georgia Voll, grabbed 79 runs in 54 balls at a strike rate of 146.30, thanks to 14 boundaries as RCB completed the chase in 19.4 overs by six wickets.

The star opening batter of the Indian women’s side, Smriti Mandhana, was set to tie the knot with the Bollywood musician, Palash Muchhal, in November 2025. But, later, the wedding was called off, as a couple of months after the discussion, Mandhana’s childhood friend, Vidnyan Mane, who claimed to be present at the wedding functions, dropped a shocking claim on Palash.

Mane revealed that Palash cheated Mandhana and was even caught red-handed with another woman in bed. He spoke about this during his interaction with the Hindustan Times. Mane is Smriti’s childhood friend and was introduced to Palash by the the Indian batter's family.

Smriti Mandhana’s friend drops surprising statement on Palash Muchhal  

Mandhana, after the incident, has returned to competitive cricket in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The left-handed opener smashed 192 runs in five innings at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 140.14, thanks to one half-century.

“When I met his mother (Amita Muchhal) last month, she said the budget to release the movie has now increased to ₹1.5 crore. They asked me to invest another ₹10 lakh, or I wouldn’t get any money back. They started blackmailing me and threatened to throw me out of the film; thus, I was forced to file a complaint.” Mane shed light.

“After the wedding was called off, the family blocked me from everywhere. I found out that other artists from the movie had not received the payment they were due to receive either. I had heard of directors fleecing producers in the film industry, but this is complete theft. I have saved all proofs, including my chats and phone conversations that I’m willing to share with the police and the media.” Mandhana’s friend concluded.

“This World Cup was the reward for the battle we fought over the years. We were waiting for it so badly. I have been playing for more than 12 years, and many times things did not go our way. We visualized it before the final, and when we finally saw it on the screen, it gave us goosebumps. It was an incredible, special moment.” Mandhana shed light.

“We really wanted to do it for them badly. Seeing tears in their eyes made it feel like women's cricket itself was winning. It was a battle won for all of them. Mandhana and Muchhal were set to tie the knot on November 23, but the ceremony was postponed after the former’s father, Srinivas, suffered a sudden medical emergency. Reports suggested that Muchhal was hospitalized due to stress. Weeks after that incident, both shared respective Instagram stories to inform of the cancellation of the wedding.

“It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me. It’s the most difficult phase of my life, and I will deal with it gracefully, holding on to my beliefs. With the wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal having been postponed, the public has been speculating a lot about it, and singer Palak Muchhal has come out to say something about it for the first time. In a recent discussion with Filmfare, Palak talked about how hard it was for both families to deal with the situation as the unexpected health emergencies forced the ceremony to be postponed.

Palak said that everybody was facing a very tough time and said, “I think the families have been through a very tough time.” “We would like to believe in positivity at this time. On the particular day of the ceremony, it was reported that Smriti Mandhana's father, Shriniwas Mandhana, had a health issue of a heart-related nature and he was taken to the hospital right away. A day later, Palash Muchhal was also hospitalised in Sangli. Later on, he was moved to Mumbai for further treatment and rest.

Initially, both families took part in the pre-wedding festivities and seemed quite happy according to the videos that had been shared; still, the unexpected change of events made Mandhana’s manager officially declare that the wedding had been postponed. After the announcement, Smriti deleted all posts regarding the wedding on her social media accounts, but only a few pictures remain on Palash's profiles.

To add to the public stir, Palash was also seen visiting Premanand Maharaj’s Ashram in Vrindavan, and photos of his visit went viral almost instantly. Nevertheless, no comments have come from either family about the couple's situation, and the claims of different reasons behind the wedding delay are still unconfirmed.

Shriniwas and Palash have both been treated and are now recuperating well. Currently, there is no new date set for the wedding, and the families have decided to prioritise health, healing, and spreading positivity.
