Tim Seifert Joins RCB Squad in Front of LSG Clash

In addition to the availability of Josh Hazlewood, Royal Challengers Bengaluru confirmed that Tim Seifert of New Zealand is also joining their squad. Seifert has been signed in place of Josh Bethell, who is from England, on a temporary replacement contract, which has now been altered for the rest of the IPL and made him available for their match on Monday against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). We do not know if he will be a part of the playing XI since Hazlewood will probably be one of the four overseas players chosen for LSG.

Hazlewood's availability is a positive for RCB, but the team management will have to manage the combined workload on Hazlewood. Chasing a significant total, the Royal Chargers made a very good start with good scores across the bat with Phil Salt (62 off 32) and Virat Kohli (43 off 25), directionally, but there were too many wickets that fell to put pressure on it. Ishan Kishan (Player of the Match): Ishan Kishan praised the good opening partnership as the basis for the result. In reply, GT made a valiant attempt but had to make do with 202 for 9. Shahrukh Khan fought hard with a quick 57 off 29 balls, Sherfane Rutherford contributed 38 off 22 deliveries, and Shubman Gill made 35 off 20 balls. LSG’s bowlers performed nicely as well, starting with Will' O'Rourke, who took 3 wickets for 27 runs. Ayush Badoni also chipped in with a key over, taking 2/4, while Avesh Khan finished his spell with figures of 2/51 runs.

Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): Rishabh Pant evaluated the Lucknow Super Giants' season, and while failing to make the playoffs is disappointing, the team showed promise. Pant lauded Shahrukh Khan for his effort for the Gujarat Titans but stated that it is hard work chasing a total of 235 runs. Pant appreciated that injuries crept into the season but applauded how the batting unit came together. He noted weaknesses in fielding and bowling and was adamant about learning from instances and practices that were not successful. 

William O'Rourke (Lucknow Super Giants Bowler): William O'Rourke was happy to be able to contribute to a strong team performance. His bowling strategy focused on hard lengths and followed LSG's batting template. Adapting to circumstances and mixing pace made all the difference. O'Rourke appreciated the welcoming nature of the club, and the camaraderie made the experience enjoyable.

Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain): Shubman Gill pointed to 15–20 extra runs conceded as a turning point in the match. He defended bowling first but recognized that they did not take any wickets in the powerplay and bowled too expensively in the middle. Gill praised the batting of Rutherford and Shahrukh Khan. He was clear about regaining momentum against CSK ahead of the playoffs.

Mitchell Marsh (Player of the Match): Mitchell Marsh enjoyed opening and noted the importance of his partnership with Aiden Markram. He reflected on his IPL experience since 2010 and overall was happy with how he contributed. Though LSG missed the playoffs, Marsh saw the remaining games as chances to play with pride. He credited patience and partnerships for his T20 success.
