In Match 16 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) series, the San Francisco Unicorns continued their undefeated run with a clinical 32-run win over the challenge of the Seattle Orcas at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas. Batting first, SFU posted 176/8 in their full complement of 20 overs, with Romario Shepherd smashing the Unicorns lead with a brisk 56 runs from 31 balls and relying on a steady 52 runs from skipper Matthew Short. Jake Fraser-McGurk chipped in with a quick 34. Seattle's bowlers had some success—Harmeet Singh and Gerald Coetzee both picked up 3-wicket hauls but were unable to stem the run flow.

In reply, the Orcas never truly got going in their chase.
Shayan Jahangir top-scored with 40 off 22, but the middle order collapsed under scoreboard pressure. Shimron Hetmyer and David Warner added 30 and 23, respectively, but it wasn’t enough. Haris Rauf was once again the destroyer-in-chief with 4/32, while Matthew Short (3/12) and Romario Shepherd (2/16) sealed the game with brilliant spells. Seattle was bowled out for 144 in 18.2 overs.

With this win, the San Francisco Unicorns became the first team to qualify for the MLC 2025 playoffs, with an unblemished record of 6 wins from 6 games, and anchoring first on the table with 12 points.
Seattle Orcas, meanwhile, remain winless at the bottom.

San Francisco Unicorns maintained their winning streak in Match 10 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season with a commanding 7-wicket victory over Texas Super Kings at Texas' Grand Prairie Stadium. Put in to bat first, Texas scored a difficult 198 for 5, led by an incredible century by captain Faf du Plessis (100 off 51) ably assisted by Saiteja Mukkamalla (38 off 24) and Devon Conway (23 off 23). San Francisco bowling was spearheaded by Xavier Bartlett (2 for 31) and Haris Rauf (2 for 34), who did well to limit the damage in the death overs.

Pursuing 199, the Unicorns made a commanding response. Finn Allen torched 78 from a mere 35 balls to establish the tone, while captain Matthew Short contributed a match-winning 61 off 29 balls.
Jake Fraser-McGurk wrapped up with a classy 37* off 25 as SFU chased down the target within 16.1 overs at 202/3. Though Texas bowlers Adam Milne, Mohammad Mohsin, and Daryl Mitchell tried with one wicket each, they were unable to halt the rampage.

The decisive victory provided San Francisco their fourth consecutive win, remaining undefeated and at the top of the points table.

MI New York won their season's first match in Match 9 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season with a 7-wicket win against Seattle Orcas at the Oakland Coliseum, California. Batting first, Seattle Orcas posted a daunting 200 for 5, with Kyle Mayers burning the hay with an 88 off 46 deliveries. He was ably assisted by Shayan Jahangir (43 off 34) and Heinrich Klaasen (27 off 11). Even with the tall score, MI New York's bowlers kept their cool, Naveen ul Haq (2 for 64), Michael Bracewell (1 for 20), and Sunny Patel (1 for 28) picking up wickets.

Chasing 201, MI New York registered a strong response. Monank Patel had a stunning knock, scoring 93 off 50 balls, and laid the match-winning platform with Michael Bracewell, who added an essential 50 off 35 balls. Kieron Pollard then sealed the game with a brisk 26 off 10 balls, as MI New York galloped to 203 for 3 in 19 overs. For Seattle, Sikandar Raza was the best bowler with 2 for 37, and Kyle Mayers snared one wicket, but the rest of the bowling attack was unable to stem the run flow.

The victory earned MI New York two important points and sent Seattle Orcas deeper into the cellar, looking for their maiden win.
