Nepal delivered a stunning all-round effort to demolish India by 92 runs in the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 held at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok. Choosing to bat first, the top order for the Nepalese side laid waste to the Indian bowling attack with a focus on boundary hitting and aggressive cricket. Throughout the innings, they maintained an astonishing run rate and dominated the game from the beginning, leaving India outclassed in all departments. Their attacking mentality and execution made it one of the most dominating performances of the tournament so far.

Nepal’s batting assault was led by Captain Sundeep Jora and Rashid Khan, who both played with great confidence. Jora scored a brutal unbeaten 47 off 12 balls and Rashid Khan had a fabulous 55 off 17 before retiring hurt. After their fireworks, Lokesh Bam continued the onslaught and smashed an impressive 31 off just 7 balls. Effectively, these feats allowed Nepal to post a jaw-dropping 137/0 in six overs, which set a record total that stunned the crowd and other team.

Nepal's batting performance absolutely dominated India's bowling attack. There was no bowler who managed to keep the run rate below 20, and in fact, Bharat Chipli, Priyank Panchal and Shahbaz Nadeem all went for more than 20 runs per over easily. With no control over their bowling and an erratic line and length, Nepal's batters took advantage of a lack of pressure from the Indian bowlers, hitting boundaries with ease. India looked without answers, and despite having players with experience, their strategy did not change and the Nepal batters were able to successfully continue their aggressiveness without having any breakthroughs or pressure created by Indian bowlers.

Nepal’s Bowlers Seal Dominant Victory

India did not seem settled while chasing 138 and crumbled to 45 all out in 3 overs. Nepal's bowlers, led by Rashid Khan, destroyed the Indian line-up. Rashid was outstanding, picking up 3 wickets for 7 runs, Basir Ahamad 2 for 12, and Rupesh Singh chipped in with one. Collectively, they made sure India went for cheap, and the victory was comprehensive.

As a result of his all-round performance, Rashid Khan was awarded Player of the Match. His explosive batting and disciplined bowling marked the significant impact he had on the game. The win is also significant for Nepal, as they are establishing themselves as the team to beat in the Hong Kong Sixes. This victory was emphatic, and sent a strong message to the other teams that they are serious contenders for the 2025 title.

<![CDATA[ENG vs IND: Priyank Panchal explains why Shubman Gill's 269-run knock demands more attention and appreciation]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/eng-vs-ind-priyank-panchal-explains-why-shubman-gill-s-269-run-knock-demands-more-attention-and-appreciation/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/eng-vs-ind-priyank-panchal-explains-why-shubman-gill-s-269-run-knock-demands-more-attention-and-appreciation/ Fri, 04 Jul 2025 15:56:02 GMT

Former Indian batsman Priyank Panchal critically analyzed the batting of captain of the India Test team Shubman Gill. Since he got the captain's armband to lead the team in Whites, Gill evolved into a whole new batter.

Under pressure he scored a hundred in the first test of the 5-match series and a 269-run innings in the ongoing 2nd test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham. As a newly assigned captain, scoring back-to-back mammoth runs is not something cricket fans saw every other day. Straight from T20 cricket to Test in England, Panchal is amazed to see the way Gill transformed himself within a short time. The right-handed batter was engaged with Gujarat Titans, playing IPL 2025; after that, he was appointed as the skipper of Team India.

"What I found particularly insightful was his reflection on transitioning from T20 to Tests, something that’s extremely hard, even for top-level players. The instinct to go after the ball has to be curbed, and that mental switch takes deliberate work. Gill started his test prep during the IPL, which shows his clarity of thought and intent," Priyank said in his LinkedIn post.

From a technical angle, Gill's playing style impressed the former cricketer. The way he balanced himself under new conditions and switched gears according to the need of the moment brought pure joy for Panchal.

The innings is worth a case study

"From a technical lens, his focus on the initial movement and setup stands out. The base of any long innings is balance. When Shubman spoke about not over-focusing and just enjoying his batting again, that hit home for many of us. Because cricket, especially Test cricket, is about trusting your muscle memory while sharpening your concentration."

Panchal wrote that Shubman's 269-knock is worth a case study in preparation, adaptation, and mindset. The India captain played the 269-run innings after facing 387 deliveries. Throughout the innings he played multiple eye-shooting strokes; 30 boundaries and 3 massive sixes came from his blade.
