The IPL 2025 season has been a revelation, showcasing a plethora of young Indian talents who are poised to shape the future of Indian cricket. From Vaibhav Suryavanshi's record-century to Ayush Mhatre's shashbuckling 94 in a losing cause, these youngsters have already compelled the selectors to take cognisance of their sheer talent. With players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma approaching the twilight phase of their careers, these players have what it takes to fill the void that would be left behind by these legendary players.

Here's a spotlight on some of the most promising emerging stars:

Vaibhav Suryavanshi – Rajasthan Royals

At just 14 years of age, Suryavanshi has already made it to the record books by becoming the youngest player to feature in the IPL. Despite being the youngest, Suryavanshi has punched way above his weight and has already achieved what many can only dream of. The youngster smashed all records during RR's clash with GT, where he slammed the third fastest IPL century (101 off 38 balls), taking the in-form GT bowlers to the cleaners. In the process, he also became the youngest player to ever hit a century in the IPL. His fearless approach and exceptional stroke play have drawn comparisons to cricketing legends. Suryavanshi has only started off his journey and has already hit the ground running. With so many accomplishments in a very short space of time, Suryavanshi has a long way to go, and it won't be long before we see him in Indian colours.

Priyansh Arya – Punjab Kings

Priyansh Arya from Punjab Kings had a stellar run in the 2025 IPL season. At age 24, Arya emerged as a major cornerstone in the PBKS batting lineup. He announced his arrival with a blistering 47 runs off just 23 balls against the Gujarat Titans, showcasing his aggressive batting style. Then a few games later, he followed it up blistering century against CSK (103 off 42), which went down in the record books as the fastest century by an uncapped player in IPL history. Time and again throughout the course of the tournament, Arya has showcased his aggressive temperament and the ability to switch through the gears in the roughfest of times. On the back of consistent performances, Arya can make a strong case for himself in India's white-ball setup.

Ashutosh Sharma – Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals' Ashutosh Sharma had a phenomenal outing in the last season, establishing himself as one of the season's breakout stars. At age 26, Ashutosh has a wealth of experience in domestic cricket. The years of grind at the domestic level are now showing positive results for him. The world has been able to see some glimpses of his brilliance with the bat. He has played some notable innings under pressure and has rescued DC from tricky situations. Ashutosh has exhibited real toughness during DC's clash with LSG when DC were 65-5 while chasing 210. Ashutosh anchored the innings with crucial partnerships, including a 50-run stand with debutant Vipraj Nigam (39 off 15 balls). In the end, DC narrowly got away with a win by a margin of one wicket with three balls to spare. With the ability to anchor the innings, Ashutosh can be an ideal fit for India, preferably in the longest format.

Suyash Sharma – Royal Challengers Bangalore

Another youngster who is rising through the ranks rapidly is the 22-year-old leggie Suyash Sharma. Suyash has been a terrific find in the IPL and has demonstrated his appetite for picking up wickets. He commenced his IPL journey with KKR in the 2023 edition and had a remarkable stint with them, picking up 10 wickets at a stunning average of 32.1. He is a traditional leg spinner who can extract reasonable turn from the surface if the conditions presented to them are helpful. Moreover, he can also be very deceptive with his quicker delivery and wrong un. His fortunes changed when he joined RCB this year. he produced a game-changing spell of 3-17 to cripple PBKS in Qualifier 1, ultkmately driving RCB to the final and eventually to their maiden title. His ability to vary pace and flight makes him a formidable spinner in the T20 format.

Ayush Mhatre – Chennai Super Kings

Ayush Mhatre has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in IPL 2025, making a significant impact for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). At a tender age of just 17, Ayush has turned some heads around on the back of some eye-catching performances. Mhatre made his IPL debut at just 17 years and 278 days old, becoming the 7th youngest player in IPL history. He came in at No. 4 and scored a quickfire 32 runs off 15 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes, providing the much-needed impetus to CSK's innings. However, the most defining knock of his IPL career came against RCB on May 3, when he played a scintillating knock, scoring 94 runs off 48 balls while chasing a daunting total of 214. He narrowly missed his first-ever IPL century by just 6 runs. His exploits at this young age have made observers curious about what the youngster can achieve in the years to come.

These young cricketers have dazzled us all with their breathtaking performances. At the same time, it also highlights the depth of India's vast pool of cricketing talent. With continued support and exposure, they are set to play pivotal roles in the national team's future endeavors.

<![CDATA[WATCH: Phil Salt acrobatic catch against PBKS in IPL 2025 Final]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-phil-salt-acrobatic-catch-against-pbks-in-ipl-2025-final/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-phil-salt-acrobatic-catch-against-pbks-in-ipl-2025-final/ Tue, 03 Jun 2025 22:52:24 GMT

The IPL 2025 final match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) was filled with drama, but none more thrilling than the piece of brilliance created by Phil Salt close to the boundary. With PBKS going hard in their 191-run pursuit at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Salt's breathtaking catch off the last over of the powerplay altered the pace of the evening and perhaps the destiny of the final.

Punjab were going at a cracking pace with young opener Priyansh Arya in fluent touch, having hit four boundaries on the way to a promising 24 from 19 balls. Just when Arya was set to up the ante, Josh Hazlewood served a short-of-length delivery angling into the body. Arya, unbeatable and calm, tried to pull it over deep backward square leg.

But waiting down in the deep was Salt, patrolling the outfield, not donning the gloves for RCB. What ensued was nothing less than world-class athleticism and alertness. Running to his right at top speed, Salt held the catch while the ball was still in play, but instantly realized his pace would carry him over the boundary. In a stunning example of improvisation, he released the ball in mid-air while crossing over the rope, clean-stepped out, and came back to finish the catch without incident.

It was a defence for the ages. With 90,000+ supporters going berserk inside the world's biggest cricket stadium, Salt's calm head and agile feet provided RCB with the breakthrough they so badly sought. Arya's dismissal put an end to Punjab's initial flow and breathed new life into RCB's defence of 190/9 in their first title quest.

Phil Salt's Boundary Magic Turns the Tide as RCB Halt PBKS Surge in Final

Punjab Kings had won the toss earlier and decided to field. RCB's innings never really took off, but they managed to keep the scoreboard turning with consistent inputs. Virat Kohli led the charge with 43 off 35 and kept anchoring the innings even as wickets tumbled around him. Rajat Patidar added 26, while Liam Livingstone's (25), Mayank Agarwal's, and Jitesh Sharma's (24 each) cameos propelled RCB to 190.

PBKS bowlers, particularly during the death overs, were superb. Kyle Jamieson (3/48) and Arshdeep Singh (3/40) strangled the game, while Azmatullah Omarzai picked the crucial wicket of Kohli. Yuzvendra Chahal's 1/37 also contributed significantly in holding down the middle overs. In turn, PBKS started well, getting to 98/3 at the 12 overs, but Salt's acrobatics meant that Arya, who had appeared to be a match-winning prospect, was unable to proceed. The timing of the dismissal couldn't have been more pivotal.

Despite the disappointment, Priyansh Arya can be proud of his first IPL season. The young opener finished with 466 runs in 17 games, a plundering hundred against Chennai Super Kings, a 103 off mere 42 balls that marked his arrival on the big stage.

Priyansh Arya has now made waves all around the country with his super performance during IPL 2025. At only 24, he became left-handed sensation who went a blistering century from the likes of Chennai Super Kings within just 39 deliveries. Arya's assault contained 7 fours and 9 sixes, scoring a total of 103 off 42 deliveries.

What adds to the greatness of Arya's performance is that this is his first season with the Indian Premier League. Coming up against one of the strongest teams in IPL history, he was mature, confident, and big-hitting. Punjab Kings had to battle hard to acquire him at the IPL 2025 mega auction, beating Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Mumbai Indians, eventually signing him for ₹3.80 crore.

Former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu was so impressed that he compared Priyansh Arya to none other than the all-time great Sachin Tendulkar. While such comparisons are rare and have a lot of meaning, what Sidhu said is an indication of just how much Arya can do.

Followers and pundits now have their eyes on this talented youngster, who could become one of the faces of Indian cricket in the future.

5. Priyansh Arya

The young and dynamic batter from Punjab Kings delivered a stunning 39-ball century against Chennai Super Kings, standing firm against a challenging bowling attack. In his explosive knock, Priyansh hit 7 fours and an impressive 9 massive sixes. After a few quiet outings earlier in the tournament, the pressure was mounting on him to perform — and he responded in style. This powerful inning was well worth the wait, as he took on seasoned spinners and handled the pacers with confidence, proving that he’s ready for the big stage. His performance has instilled hope and shown that he can be a dependable batter for the team.

4. Travis Head

Australian opener Travis Head is renowned for his explosive batting style, often clearing the boundary with ease. In a memorable match last year against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, he delivered one of his most destructive performances. After Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bat first, Head unleashed a brutal assault on the RCB bowlers, sending the ball to all parts of the ground. His powerful knock included 9 fours and 8 sixes, culminating in a blistering 39-ball century that left RCB reeling and completely shifted the momentum in SRH’s favour.

3. David Miller

South African left-handed batter David Miller is widely known for his explosive and game-changing batting. In a 2013 clash between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, RCB posted a challenging total of 190 while batting first. Punjab’s chase seemed shaky after losing a few early wickets, but Miller turned the tide with his fearless stroke play. While others struggled to time the ball, Miller dominated the bowling attack with ease. He took control of the chase and powered his way to victory with 8 boundaries and 7 towering sixes, finishing the match in style that once appeared out of reach for Punjab.

2. Yusuf Pathan

Yusuf Pathan, known for his explosive right-handed batting, played a memorable knock for the Rajasthan Royals in 2010 during a high-scoring encounter against the Mumbai Indians. MI had set a formidable target of 212 runs, thanks to strong performances from their top-order batters. Rajasthan’s chase started on a shaky note, losing early wickets and finding themselves in a tough spot. However, Yusuf Pathan turned the game on its head with a blistering counterattack. He launched into the MI bowlers with fearless hitting, smashing 8 sixes and 9 boundaries on his way to a 37-ball century. Although Rajasthan Royals narrowly lost the match by just 4 runs, Pathan’s explosive innings remain one of the standout performances in IPL history.

1. Chris Gayle

West Indies powerhouse Chris Gayle delivered one of the most iconic innings in IPL history during a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors India. After winning the toss, Bangalore opted to bat first, and what followed was pure carnage. Gayle unleashed a brutal assault on the opposition bowlers, scoring an unbeaten 175 runs — a record that still stands today. His innings included a staggering 17 sixes and 13 fours, leaving the Pune bowlers with no answers. It remains one of the most unforgettable knocks in T20 cricket.

The quality of his innings was evident from the very start, as he struck the very first ball he faced for a six. In his T20 career so far, Arya has amassed 628 runs in 21 innings at an average of 31.40, including one century and three half-centuries. Batting first after winning the toss, captain Shreyas Iyer aimed for a commanding total, and Arya's fireworks ensured that PBKS reached 164/6 by the 15th over of their match against Chennai Super Kings at the Mullanpur Stadium.

PBKS were looking to bounce back from their loss to the Rajasthan Royals. Although the team had lost, their performances in both batting and bowling had shown promise in previous matches. Back on their home ground, PBKS hoped to build momentum. Meanwhile, CSK have struggled to find their rhythm this season. Their batting lacks direction, and their bowling appears uncertain about whether to rely on spin or pace, which has affected their overall consistency.
