SRH vs KKR: Weather and Pitch Report

The weather in Hyderabad on the 10th of May, 2025, shows that the day should be hazy with a temperature of 28-34°C and humidity of 50-60%. There is no rain forecasted, but dew could play a role in facilitating batting in the second innings. There will be good bounce on the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium pitch, which has benefited batsmen. Although pacers have taken more wickets at this venue than spinners, the same cannot be said for Varun Chakaravarthy, who can easily be economical. Given the anticipated dew, the captain that wins the toss may like to bat second on a track that is favorable for batting.

SRH vs KKR: Match Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad under Pat Cummins are out of the playoff race with only 3 wins from 11 games. SRH currently sits in eighth position. SRH batting has been inconsistent, although Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen can hit the ball hard and do well at the top of the order. Last time against KKR, SRH lost by 80 runs. Harshal Patel and Mohammed Shami have been hailed as the top bowlers for SRH, although, given SRH's overall form, they do not appear the favorites as they are playing at home. The Kolkata Knight Riders, managed by Ajinkya Rahane, are at a tricky point in their season with 5 wins from 12 games, despite having only 2 wins in their last 5 matches, and want to add to their wins to help secure a playoff spot. Based on KKR's last game against SRH, their performance showed the influence Venkatesh Iyer has had for KKR when he scored 60 off 29 in the match. Varun Chakaravarthy, leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets thus far this season, gives them an upper hand. A win here would bring KKR closer to the playoffs.

The 55th match of the IPL 2025 season, featuring Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC), will be remembered as a disappointing affair for both fans and players, after rain kept on falling on the field and a wet outfield caused the game to be abandoned without SRH needing to bat or having the chance to chase. The game was played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad in what was an important game for both sides to try to revive their campaigns. The game had plenty of potential; however, the weather dictated the outcome, resulting in both sides receiving a point.

Delhi Capitals, who were put in to bat first, struggled to get going, as the SRH pace attack fronted by Pat Cummins took early control of the innings. Without a single player getting to double figures except Ashutosh Sharma (41 off 26), DC found themselves at 29/5 from the early onslaught of Cummins. The Aussie would finish with impressive figures of 31-3-19. But then a counter-attacking partnership between Tristan Stubbs (41* off 36) and Ashutosh Sharma somehow gave Delhi a fighting chance to compete with 133 runs, finishing at 133/7 after 20 overs.

Rain Denies SRH, Playoff Dreams Shattered

Unfortunately for SRH, the weather turned against them during the innings break. It was one short of impossible for the umpires to get a clear view of play when inspections kept ruling that the outfield wasn't fit to play. The umpires kept making delays, with the end of inspections not looking good for SRH. After a long interruption, the match was officially abandoned.

By not finishing this match, SRH were officially eliminated from the playoff race. With just three wins out of 11, SRH remain at the bottom of the table and were not able to build up enough momentum over the season. Their inconsistencies and inability to finish off games have come back to cost them time and time again.

For the Delhi Capitals, they have now moved up to fifth place, and they will stay in with a chance of making the playoffs with this one point as they now continue to focus on their remaining fixtures in the hope of moving into the top four as the league phase starts to draw to a close.

This was a big disappointment for SRH, but for Delhi Capitals, this could be hugely significant in a very competitive race for the playoffs. In the end, with every point so important at the conclusion of IPL 2025, it's very possible that this abandoned match could even be crucial for the Delhi Capitals.

The match begins at 7:30 PM IST and will be led by Pat Cummins for SRH & Axar Patel for DC. This match is important for DC to make a good claim for a playoff spot & SRH to close their campaign after a disappointing IPL 2025. SRH's top-order will face DC's spin or pace; DC, on the other hand, will ponder the best way to break through SRH's explosive top-order.

SRH vs DC: Weather and Pitch Report

It is expected to be warm and humid in Hyderabad on May 5, 2025, with temperatures varying around 28–32°C (82–90°F) and the level of humidity sitting between 65–75%. Rain is not a likely possibility, so an uninterrupted match looks to be on the cards. The pitch at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is usually batsman-friendly with a flat pitch that can produce big scores. Spinners might get some turn as the match continues, but otherwise, be aware of dew in the second innings, which could make a difference in the match, as teams often have a distinct advantage while chasing. I expect teams will opt to bowl first to take advantage of chasing conditions at night.

SRH vs DC: Match Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) play Delhi Capitals (DC) in a key IPL 2025 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 5. SRH is in ninth place, and DC is contending for a playoff place, making this match an important one. SRH has only won 3 of 10 matches to date, and they need victories to stay in the hunt. The Sunrisers batting order, including Travis Head and Ishan Kishan, has failed to be consistent, but Abhishek Sharma seems to have found form and can be a player of impact. Heinrich Klaasen and Aniket Verma have been solid in the middle order. Captain Pat Cummins leads a struggling bowling attack, one which has two premier players, Mohammed Shami and Harshal Patel. There are also the likes of spinners, Zeeshan Ansari, who could play an important role on the spin-friendly Hyderabad pitch.

DC, led by Axar Patel, has a flow about their game and is fifth on the ladder with 6 wins behind them. Their batting, which consists of heavy hitters such as Faf du Plessis, KL Rahul, and Tristan Stubbs, is strong, but the middle order on which they rely also needs to score runs. Mitchell Starc has taken responsibility in recent weeks, with his first five-wicket haul earlier in IPL 2025 coming against SRH along with spin options including Kuldeep Yadav, who has put together some impressive numbers. Additionally, if the day turns flat, and with dew as a factor, chasing seems the better strategy. Notably, DC comfortably beat SRH last time around, and they will no doubt be keen to recreate that performance. For SRH, it's now or never in the fight for a playoff spot.

SRH vs MI: Weather and Pitch Report

On April 23, 2025, Hyderabad's weather is forecasted to be perfect for cricket, with temperatures expected to be in the 35–40°C range and little chance of precipitation. The evening humidity will be in the 40–50% range, which may present some issues, but overall, the conditions should be good. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium pitch is a batter's dream with its flat tracks and short boundaries promoting aggressive batting. Spinners may get some help in the middle overs. However, fast bowlers could also get some early swing under the lights. There may be dew on the surface, so that could assist the chasing team. Chasing teams have a 55.42% chance of winning. We can expect a competitive score in the range of 180–200 runs, and this should set up both teams for a high-scoring thriller.

SRH vs MI: Match Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by Pat Cummins, will look to use their home ground of Hyderabad to get their season back on track. Sunrisers normally bat well but may lack consistency. Their batting (Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy) has the firepower to make explosions but may lack consistency. In their most recent match against MI on April 17, 2025, Sunrisers batted first to score 162/5, but MI chased it down. Abhishek scored 40 runs, and Klaasen scored 37 runs, which was not enough. The bowling unit, led by Cummins, Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, and Rahul Chahar, is capable of executing multiple changes, having the pace of Shami and the spin of Chahar. suited to the pitch’s evolving nature.

MI (Hardik Pandya) is coming off a convincing win and will need to rely on their batting by Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya, supported by Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks in the batting order, and their bowling with Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult in the lead, with Deepak Chahar and Mitchell Santner holding down the fort. MI performed well chasing 163 against SRH in their last match on April 17, 2025, winning by 4 wickets in 18.1 overs with Will Jacks (36 off 26) taking the honors (2/14 with the ball). MI will need their competitive position against SRH, including this victory of 14 wins in 24 matches and 5 out of 8 matches at Hyderabad, given that MI won it in their last match. The Mumbai Indians would also want to remind themselves of their pursuit role on batting-friendly tracks when chasing runs in the IPL, especially as they now have 4 wins in 8 games, to be able to put any similar team on the field to say, Well, win another match and make better results than simply a decent start.

<![CDATA[HCA removes name of former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin from Uppal stadium]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/hca-removes-name-of-former-indian-cricket-captain-mohammad-azharuddin-from-uppal-stadium/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/hca-removes-name-of-former-indian-cricket-captain-mohammad-azharuddin-from-uppal-stadium/ Sun, 20 Apr 2025 10:15:38 GMT

In a monumental decision, the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has been ordered to remove former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin's name from the North Pavilion stand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal. This also entails that tickets for matches in the future cannot have the name Azharuddin. The directive underscores a wide-ranging move to reset and remedy the recent controversies and administrative issues with the association.

Azharuddin, a one-time HCA president, has also been embroiled in disputes. In October 2023, he was barred from participating in HCA elections because it was discovered that he was still the president of the Deccan Blues Cricket Club, and he was in violation of HCA's regulations against holding dual authority positions within affiliated clubs and the HCA, or even one of the member associations. After the matter went to the Supreme Court looking for court relief, the court refused, and the matter closed off his prospects for an administrative position within HCA moving forward.

Also Read: IPL 2025, Match 36: Lucknow Super Giants vs Rajasthan Royals Full Match Highlights

Azharuddin faced allegations of financial and administrative irregularities during his term as HCA president as well. In November 2023, he was granted anticipatory bail in a case where he was accused of inconsistencies in procurement regarding cricketing equipment and the stadium, exacting some suggested level of formal inquiry to embark on a season where attending HCA matches and using the playing surface whose procurement efficacy was called into question in the general public's attention. These controversies have led to mounting pressure on the association to distance itself from his legacy and take corrective steps toward transparency and governance.

A Shift in HCA’s Legacy and Accountability

The removal of Azharuddin’s name from one of the key pavilions at Uppal Stadium symbolizes a major shift in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s stance. This is a significant departure from the HCA's original view of Azharuddin, who - after decades of being a celebrated Indian cricketer - will now be associated solely with past match-fixing allegations, as well as recent administrative scandals. By eliminating him from mention altogether now, it seems that the HCA is suggesting a new beginning, which is a likely step toward assuring ethical governance and a clearer notion of accountability.

Also Read: IPL 2025: PBKS vs RCB Match 37 - A Head to Head breakdown

On one hand, the HCA's officials are going to receive some mixed responses to this from fans and former players; on the other hand, they are becoming aware of the importance of ethics in cricket governance. Weather and Pitch Report:

Hyderabad's weather on April 12, 2025, is likely to be warm, with temperatures of 30-32°C, low humidity, and no rainfall predicted, for smooth play. Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium's pitch is batting heaven, with real pace and bounce, although spinners can get turn after the initial period. With flat pitches and short boundaries, look out for a high-scoring match, but the initial swing may test openers, making it an even contest in favor of aggressive batsmen.

Match Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad come into the game looking to exploit their home superiority, where their powerful batting, headed by Travis Head's talent and Abhishek Sharma's aggression, will try to overwhelm PBKS's bowling attack. Punjab Kings, buoyed by Shreyas Iyer's captaincy and Arshdeep Singh's speed, try to shatter SRH's grip with a game-changing all-round effort.

SRH's bowling, led by Pat Cummins and T Natarajan, will look to target the top order of PBKS, whereas PBKS's spin combination of Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar will look to finish off the middle overs. Given the likely nature of the Hyderabad pitch to favor scoring, setting a humongous total or controlling a chase will check both teams' strategy, ensuring a high-intensity match to thrill the Hyderabad crowd.
