Delhi cricket continues to show their poor performance in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025/26 at the home ground, Arun Jaitley Stadium, against Jammu and Kashmir. For the first time in the history of India’s first-class cricket, J&K have beaten this opponent in 42 attempts and 65 years. It was another successive defeat for Delhi after their loss to Pondicherry last week.

Winning the toss, the visitors decided to bowl first on a surface that they expected to help the pacers in the foggy conditions on the opening day. Auqib Nabi, who could be the upcoming star for India, led their bowling with five wickets in 16 overs for 35 runs, while Vanshaj Sharma and Abid Mushtaq’s combined four wickets blew away Delhi for 211 runs in the first innings.

Only their three batters of the middle order, Ayush Badoni, Ayush Doseja, and Sumit Mathur, celebrated their respective fifties. In reply, Jammu and Kashmir posted a massive score of 310 runs in their first innings to collect a lead of 99 runs as their captain, Paras Dogra, celebrated a fine century.

Apart from Dogra’s century, Abdul Samad smashed 85 runs while the wicket-keeper batter, Kanhaiya Wadhawan, got 47 runs in 81 balls. At 244/3 in the second innings, everything was swinging in Delhi’s favor as their captain, Badoni, made 72 runs while Doseja grabbed 62 runs in 88 deliveries. But suddenly, there was a rush of blood and Delhi fell like a pack of cards.

The home side lost their last seven wickets for just 33 runs in 12 overs, with Vanshaj Sharma ending with a fine figure of 6/68 in 16.1 overs, while Sahil Lotra collected three wickets in 23 overs at an economy rate of 3.20. Delhi set the target of just 179 runs for the fourth innings.

The target was never expected to create trouble for the Jammu and Kashmir side, and if there was any, their opener, Qamran Iqbal, remained unbeaten on 133 runs in just 147 balls with the help of 20 boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 90.48, to complete the chase by seven wickets.

Report drops bombshell]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/mohammad-shami-refused-to-play-india-a-vs-england-lions-2025-series-report-drops-bombshell/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/mohammad-shami-refused-to-play-india-a-vs-england-lions-2025-series-report-drops-bombshell/ Mon, 10 Nov 2025 16:09:23 GMT

India’s veteran right-arm pacer, Mohammad Shami, has been out of the national side’s Test set-up for a long time. His last international red-ball clash came in 2023 during the World Test Championship (WTC) final in South London against Australia. But despite being fit, the right-arm pacer missed the last trip down under and the away England series.

Shami has overall picked up 229 wickets in 122 innings for India in Tests at an average of around 28 and a strike rate of 50 with the help of six five-wicket hauls at the best of 6/56 in an inning. However, despite his continuous success in the Ranji Trophy 2025/26, picking 15 wickets in three games for Bengal, Shami has been ignored from the eleven.

“There have been multiple times that national selectors and support staff from the BCCI Centre of Excellence have called to check on Shami. The selection committee was desperate to get his services in England, as Jasprit Bumrah could not have played more than three Tests. Who wouldn’t want a bowler of his calibre in English conditions?” The board official expressed, as quoted by PTI.

Mohammad Shami’s shocking decision pushes his exit from national Test side- Reports

Shami has picked up 15 wickets for Bengal, including a fifer against Gujarat, as he remained wicketless against Tripura but decided not to play the ongoing clash against the Railways. However, over the last three weeks, he has bowled 93 overs with the red ball. But the question stands whether he would again feature for the Indian side in the longest format.

“So the narrative that there was no communication with Shami isn’t an absolute truth. The sports science team also has his medical reports and whether his body will be able to take the rigors of international cricket.” The reports claimed that Shami had perhaps played the last game for the national side in Tests.

The veteran, who featured in the Champions Trophy 2025 in March this year, has made himself available for the Ranji Trophy clash against Assam, which will be followed by the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 against Baroda, starting on November 26.

Meghalaya cricketer Akash Kumar Choudhary set a new world record during their match against Arunachal Pradesh in the Plate Group of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26, as the cricket world is completely shocked.

Akash Kumar Choudhary records fastest fifty in first-class cricket

Akash Kumar Choudhary created history on the second day of the match, where he recorded an 11-ball fifty to set a new record for the fastest fifty in first-class cricket history. The previous record was a 12-ball fifty by Leicestershire's Wayne White against Essex in 2012. In the meantime, Akash took only nine minutes to complete his fifty. According to the ESPNcricinfo report, as per the ball-by-ball data available, it was the second fastest first-class fifty in terms of minutes, while the record is an eight-minute fifty by Clive Inman for Leicestershire against Nottinghamshire in 1965.

Akash Kumar Choudhary became third batter to hit six sixes in an over; slammed eight consecutive sixes

During that record-breaking innings, Akash hit eight consecutive sixes, including six sixes in an over. After Caribbean legend Garry Sobers and Indian legend Ravi Shastri, Akash became the only third cricketer to hit six sixes in an over in first-class cricket. However, Test cricket is yet to experience it.

After one dot and two singles, the no.8 batter Akash smashed six sixes in an over of left-arm spinner Limar Dabi, which was the 126th over of the innings. In the next over, Akash continued his raining of sixes by hitting two consecutive sixes to the off-spinner TNR Mohith to complete his third first-class half-century. He remained not out for 50 runs off just 14 balls, as Meghalya declared for 628/6. In reply, Arunachal Pradesh were bundled out for only 73 runs, and after forcing for a follow-on, Arunachal Pradesh ended the second day at 29/3.

With the ball in hand, the right-arm medium fast bowler Akash Kumar Choudhary picked up one wicket in the first innings (4-0-10-1) of Arunachal Pradesh and two wickets in their second innings (4-1-7-2).

Yashasvi Jaiswal, India’s new, growing left-handed opening batter, had a fantastic two-match home Test series against the West Indies. In the first innings of the second clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Jaiswal clubbed 175 runs. He flew to Australia for the three-match ODI series but didn’t feature in a single game, and later was not picked up for the five-match T20I series.

In the break, Jaiswal returned to India and played for Mumbai at his IPL home ground, the Samai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, during the Ranji Trophy 2025/26 against Rajasthan. The aim was to find rhythm and match fitness ahead of the two-match red-ball series against the Proteas at home. It has already been a fabulous red-ball career for the Mumbai batter.

The second innings was vital for Mumbai to see off the fourth and final day of the clash and make sure they don’t lose many wickets. Jaiswal and Musheer again posted a fine 149-run opening stand for Mumbai, where the former smashed a fine knock of 156 runs in 174 balls at a strike rate of 89.96 with the help of 18 boundaries and one six, while Musheer made 63 runs, riding on nine boundaries.

The opening game of the red-ball series will be from November 14 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, before the action moves to the debutant ground, the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

When the Indian team was picked for the two-match home Test series against the West Indies, Karun Nair was removed from the national side after a poor show in the five-match away Test series against England in the United Kingdom. He returned in bad form during the series with 205 runs.

After a 73 and eight against Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season opener, Karun crafted 174* against Goa on October 26.

A joyful day for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans. One of their bowlers from the IPL 2025 squad has taken a hat-trick during the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025 second round. The record-making bowling came during the Tamil Nadu vs Nagaland match at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Karnataka.

It was the left-arm pacer Gurjapneet Singh who wrecked havoc during the first innings of Nagaland. He took the wickets of Sedezhalie Rupero, Hem Chetri, and Captain Rongsen Jonathan on Day 2 of the match. The wicket has some grass on it, which perhaps was enough for the pacer to move the ball in both ways. The way he bowled out Rupero was worth taking another look at.

After the end of Day 2, Tamil Nadu is maintaining their lead by 362 runs. They went to bat first in the match and scored a massive total of 512 runs in exchange for only 3 wickets. Nagaland was already under pressure because of the mammoth total when they walked onto the ground with the bat. Singh bagged the hat trick in the 6th over of the innings before clinching the wicket of Chetan Bist. So far, after delivering 12 overs, the pacer claimed 4 wickets at an economy rate of 2.83.

Singh was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for Rs. 2.2 crore at the 2025 IPL Super Auction. Will the team management retain the promising cricketer ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction? CSK fans will be curious to know.
