The 16th match of the WPL 2026 was very special, which was between RCB Women and MI Women at Vadodara on Monday night (January 26). This match experienced the first-ever WPL century, as well as a stunning fight from Richa Ghosh in the chase.

After the points table leader RCB Women chose to field first, the defending and record two-time champions MI Women scored 199/4 in 20 overs, thanks to the first-ever WPL century, as the English star Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 100 not out off 57 balls with 16 fours and one six.

In reply, RCB Women were once struggling at 35/5, from where Richa Ghosh produced a stunning counter-attacking knock to change the atmosphere. Although RCB Women lost the game, it became very close, as RCB Women lost the match by 15 runs after managing 184/9 in 20 overs.

The no.6 wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh scored 90 off 50 balls with the help of 10 fours and six sixes. The next batter Nadine de Klerk was their only other batter to manage the 20-run mark, as the South African scored 28 off 20 balls. Richa completed her fifty in 39 balls, which recovered their innings, while they were once out of the game comfortably.

Later, in the 19th over, Richa slammed three back-to-back sixes in the first three balls. Only on the final ball of the match, she was caught out, but her innings will always be remembered as a great unbeatable example in women's cricket.

English all-rounder and captain Nat Sciver-Brunt created history during the 16th match of the WPL 2026 between RCB Women and MI Women, where she became the first batter in the tournament's history to record a century.

WPL 2026: MI Women scored 199/4 against RCB Women

After RCB Women chose to field first, the defending champions MI Women managed to slam 199/4 in 20 overs. The no.3 batter Nat Sciver-Brunt hit her first T20 century, which created history in the Women's Premier League, as it was the first WPL century.

Sciver-Brunt came to bat in the third over, after the MI opener Sajeevan Sajana was dismissed for seven runs. The English star had a 131-run partnership with the opener Hayley Matthews for the second wicket. While Matthews completed 50 runs in 34 balls, Sciver-Brunt earlier completed her 50 runs in 32 balls.

Although Matthews was dismissed for 56 off 39 balls with nine fours, Sciver-Brunt continued her strong batting performance till the final moment of the innings.

Nat Sciver-Brunt became first to hit WPL century

In the final over of the innings, Sciver-Brunt needed one more run to become the first centurion of WPL. On the fourth ball of that over, which was her second ball facing in that over, Sciver-Brunt took a single to create WPL history. The first WPL century was recorded in 57 balls, as the English legend remained not out for 100 off 57 balls with 16 fours and one six.

Before this knock, the WPL experienced 10 90+ scores, which all failed to reach the three-figure mark. Even Sophie Devine was the first batter to score 99 runs in the WPL 2023, while Georgia Voll scored 99 not out last season. Finally, the WPL century is over; as it was the 11th time lucky.

The 16th WPL 2026 match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women and Mumbai Indians Women will take place at Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara on Monday. Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women have been the most dominant team this season, winning five of their six games and putting them at the top of the table. If they triumph in this match, it will ensure a direct path to the final, and they seem capable of doing it right now. They lost their last match by seven wickets against Delhi Capitals Women

Despite having two victories from three matches, Mumbai Indians Women's start looked promising, but a three-game losing streak has led them to fall to third. With two league fixtures remaining, they have a chance to make the playoffs, but if they slip further, the teams behind them will be able to make up the gap.
