Riyan Parag is all set to don the captain's armband in a 5-match One Day International series. After captaining Rajasthan Royals in multiple IPL 2025 matches, the batter will now lead his state in an ODI series against Namibia.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) off-spinner Harpreet Brar is enjoying a wonderful spell with the ball during the current match between the side and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The two teams are currently playing at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Harpreet Brar, who entered as an impact player, has provided a strong impact for his team in the currently ongoing match against the Rajasthan Royals. The openers of the hosts, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, were playing like rockets and gave Punjab Kings huge pressure.

Parag had been able to consolidate the innings before being dismissed. His wicket at a pivotal moment changed the course of the game in favour of PBKS, who were eager to cement their place in the playoffs.

Harpreet Brar rescued his team back into the match with three rapid wickets in his spell

It was Harpreet Brar, though, who rescued his team back into the game. The left-arm spinner got rid of both the Rajasthan Royals openers. Even later, he did not relent as he then produced a another magic delivery to get rid of Riyan Parag, who was nicely settled with the bat.On the 2nd ball of the 14th over, Harpreet Brar bowled a faster one that was slipping in. Riyan Parag tried to hack it across the line and was out-paced. The ball slid under his bat and kissed the outer edge of the leg stump to pack the batter off.

What gained attention of most was Harpreet Brar's response after getting rid of Riyan Parag. He performed the thigh-slap celebration, and later Arshdeep Singh approached him, and the pair took things to the next level. Arshdeep Singh made Harpreet Brar put on his sunglasses, and Harpreet Brar's left-arm spinner then came up with a trendy pose.

<![CDATA[Top 5 catches in IPL 2025]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-5-catches-in-ipl-2025/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/top-5-catches-in-ipl-2025/ Wed, 07 May 2025 15:39:49 GMT

The IPL 2025 season has kept fans on the edge of their seats not only with explosive batting or fiery bowling, but with breathtaking fielding brilliance. Fielders have won matches with death-defying catches, lightning-fast reflexes, and intelligent coordination. These are the top 5 catches this season that have impressed us with their athleticism, difficulty, and influence:

1. Rashid Khan vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

In a pivotal match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rashid Khan produced a match-winning moment by taking an incredible catch to send Travis Head back. Head, dangerous-looking, tried to flick a ball over square leg. Rashid, having initially misread the direction, ran back and sideways before adjusting his course halfway through his run. In a stunning turnaround, he hurled himself forward and was able to catch the ball inches above the ground. Due to Head's incendiary style, this exclusion was crucial—stopping him from establishing himself and turning the game in favor of Gujarat Titans.

2. Dewald Brevis vs Punjab Kings

In a closely fought match against PBKS , Dewald Brevis showed great calmness on the boundary rope. While a lofted shot was headed his way close to long-on, Brevis judged his leap to perfection, catching the ball in mid-air just within the ropes. Steadying his pace, he managed not to step over the boundary—a difficult art under pressure. His field sense converted what would have been a six into a wicket, changing the momentum in his team's favor.

3. Kamindu Mendis vs Chennai Super Kings

Kamindu Mendis amazed fans with an airborne catch that immediately went viral. Fielding for CSK, he responded to a flat pull shot by diving horizontally through the air close to backward point. Completely outstretched, he clutched the ball with both hands in mid-air, a moment evoking Jonty Rhodes-era fielding. The pure athleticism and timing made it one of the most stunning catches of the season.

4. Dushmantha Chameera vs kolkata knight riders

In a burst of raw reflex genius, Chameera picked a blinder off his own bowling to direct a fierce drive straight back to him. The ball came off the bat like a bullet, but Chameera reflexively held out his right hand and snatched it away clean. It was a demonstration of sheer reaction time and poise, taking out even the batter by surprise, and eliminating a crucial KKR batsman early in the innings.

5. Riyan Parag vs Chennai Super Kings

Riyan Parag added to his growing reputation as a dependable fielder with a brilliant diving catch near the deep midwicket boundary. Chennai batter looked to clear the ropes, but Parag timed his sprint and dive to perfection, tumbling forward and clutching the ball just above the turf. It was a clutch moment in a high-pressure game and further established Parag’s importance in Rajasthan Royals’ outfield setup.

These catches were not merely highlights—they were game-changers. With fielding standards in IPL 2025 reaching new heights, these moments served as reminders that brilliance in the field can be as match-winning as a century or a five-wicket haul.

Kolkata Knight Riders held their nerve after win against Rajasthan Royals by just one run in a nail-biting match at Eden Gardens on Sunday, May 4. With this close win, KKR kept their playoff hopes alive after crazy win against RR in 53rd match of IPL 2025.

KKR Win Last-Over Thriller Against Rajasthan Royals, Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

KKR Batting first, and they scored 206 runs for 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Sunil Narine got out early, but Rahmanullah Gurbaz (35) and Ajinkya Rahane (30) gave the innings a steady start. Young Angkrish Raghuvanshi added a valuable 44, setting things up nicely. Andre Russell then exploded with a powerful 57 off just 25 balls, while Rinku Singh added a quick 19 runs from only six deliveries to take KKR past 200.

For RR, Jofra Archer (1/30) and Riyan Parag (1/21) were the most effective with the ball.
Hasaranga couldn’t take any wickets, and both Yudhvir Singh and Maheesh Theekshana picked up one wicket each but were expensive. Rajasthan’s chase got off to a poor start. They lost two wickets in the first two overs, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi scoring just 4 and Kunal Singh Rathore getting out for a duck. By the eighth over, half of their team was back in the dugout.

But Riyan Parag brought life back into the chase. He smashed 32 runs in one over off Moeen Ali and took RR close with a brilliant 95 from 45 balls, hitting six fours and eight sixes.
Sadly for RR, he got out just five runs short of a well-deserved century. Shubham Dubey gave it his all at the end with 25 off 14 balls, but it wasn’t enough. Moeen Ali, Harshit Rana, and Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets each and made sure KKR crossed the finish line.

<![CDATA[Players to hit 5 Sixes in an Over in IPL History]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-stats/players-to-hit-5-sixes-in-an-over-in-ipl-history/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-stats/players-to-hit-5-sixes-in-an-over-in-ipl-history/ Sun, 04 May 2025 20:25:59 GMT

Hitting five sixes in a single over is one of the most memorable and exhilarating feats in T20 cricket, highlighting an explosive batter's power, belief, and timing. Within the fast-paced formats of the Indian Premier League (IPL), not an abundance of players have hit five or more sixes in a single over having done so, but every player who has achieved it, changed the momentum of a match or potted the final nail in the coffin of the other team. These moments have gone on to become iconic in IPL history. From Universe Boss Chris Gayle to fearless youngster Riyan Parag, these batters have surpassed the limitations of the human capacity of fours and plundered sixes to leave spectators awestruck and bowlers in turmoil in the space of a single over.

1. Chris Gayle – 175 (66) | RCB vs PWI, IPL 2013

Chris Gayle’s innings of 175* off 66 balls remains the most iconic innings in the history of IPL. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Pune Warriors India (PWI) at iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the legendary West Indian batter unleashed a storm that shattered multiple records of batting. The dynamic left-hand batter struck 13 fours and 17 sixes — including five sixes in a single over which was bowled by spinner Rahul Sharma. Gayle's brutal hitting left the opposition clueless and the crowd in awe. That over contributed massively to RCB’s record total of 263/5, the highest team total in IPL history. Gayle’s ability to maintain a strike rate of over 265 through the innings was unprecedented, and his five-sixes-over remains a textbook example of T20 carnage.

2. Rahul Tewatia – 53 (31) | RR vs KXIP, IPL 2020

In IPL 2020, Rahul Tewatia enjoyed one of the greatest transformations in professional T20 cricket. Chasing a total of 224 against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), the Rajasthan Royals found themselves in a tough position. Tewatia made a slow start, scoring 8 runs off 19 balls, frustrating everyone watching on TV and his own teammates. But then in the 18th over, Tewatia changed the game, hitting Sheldon Cottrell for the first five sixes of his career in one over. Cottrell's 18th over cost Punjab a total of 30 runs, and Tewatia's ending score of 53 runs off 31 balls turned the match upside down.

3. Ravindra Jadeja – 62 (28) | CSK vs RCB, IPL 2021

Ravindra Jadeja’s phenomenal 62 not out off just 28 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2021 has to be up there as one of the greatest all-round performances in IPL history. Jadeja batted at No. 5 for Chennai Super Kings and blasted in the last over of the innings bowled by Harshal Patel. In that over, Jadeja hit five sixes and one four, to score 37 runs off that over, which was the most expensive over in IPL history at that time. With Jadeja’s finishing, CSK had reached 191/4.

4. Rinku Singh – 48 (21) | KKR vs GT, IPL 2023

Rinku Singh's 48* off 21 balls against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 was a fairytale ending to one of the most thrilling matches ever. Kolkata Knight Riders needed 29 runs off the last over. Facing Yash Dayal, Rinku did the unimaginable - hitting 5 straight sixes to clinch an impossible victory. This was not just about pure power, but it was also about nerves, temperament and timing of the shots. His innings was only 48, but left a lasting memory behind and established him as a clutch performer. The calmness he showed in a world of top-level pressure made it a finish for the ages and rightly will be one of the most replayed IPL moments ever.

5. Riyan Parag – 95 (45) | RR vs CSK, IPL 2025

In IPL 2025, Riyan Parag announced his arrival as a powerful finisher with a blistering 68 off just 28 balls against Chennai Super Kings. Known more for his potential than performance in earlier seasons, Parag turned the tide by smashing Moeen Ali for five sixes in one over, injecting life into Rajasthan Royals’ innings. His calculated aggression, shot selection, and fearless intent made headlines. Each six came with authority — from clean straight hits to lofts over midwicket — showcasing his evolved technique. It was a breakthrough moment for the young batter, and the innings played a pivotal role in RR posting a competitive total in a high-stakes match.

KKR started their innings with great aggression from Andre Russell, who hit 57 runs from only 25 balls. Russell's innings was full of monstrous sixes. Rajasthan Royals innings

RR started their innings in an aggressive manner, led by the incredible Riyan Parag, who hit 95 runs from 45 balls. Parag struck numerous boundaries and sixes, keeping RR in the hunt. Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 34 runs from 21 balls for the first wicket, and Shimron Hetmyer scored 29 runs from 23 balls. Sanju Samson added a quick 15 runs from 10 balls with a couple of boundaries but got out to a smart catch. KKR's bowling attack responded once two quick wickets from Yudhvir Singh (1/26) and Jofra Archer (1/30) raised some intent. At the end, Varun Chakravarthy (2/32) and Harshit Rana (2/41) were able to strike again in the death overs to take both Hetmyer and Moeen Ali. Needing 2 runs off the last ball, RR failed to score. In a dramatic finish to the game, RR finished their innings at 205 runs for 8 wickets, falling just 1 run short of a victory.

KKR vs RR: Post Match Reactions

Andre Russell (Player of the Match): Russell was happy with the critical victory, calling the remaining matches "four finals." He acknowledged the surface was hard but backed himself to hit the ball hard, saying that with 15 balls to face, he could get 40 easily. He praised Rinku Singh's late knock and said an awareness of the scoreboard helps him target the bowlers well.

Ajinkya Rahane (KKR Captain): Rahane was excited about the close win and stated the whole team needed these 1-2 run wins to build confidence. He congratulated the Russell-Angkrish partnership and also praised Russell for creating something from nothing due to a slow start. He said fielding was a controllable factor and added that small moments sometimes when fielding create big differences in the game.

Rinku Singh (KKR): Rinku said good fielding was important; he liked it more than batting. He said Russell had played a good innings, and his job was to immediately look for the big shots upon entering.

Riyan Parag (RR Captain): Parag blamed himself for the loss and said he should have batted till the end. He accepted he made bad decisions in the power play and bad bowling changes. He gave credit to the spinners and to Russell's innings but acknowledged RR had not been clinical enough.

<![CDATA[[WATCH] IPL 2025: Riyan Parag smashes Moeen Ali for five sixes in single over against KKR]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2025-riyan-parag-smashes-moeen-ali-for-five-sixes-in-single-over-against-kkr/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2025-riyan-parag-smashes-moeen-ali-for-five-sixes-in-single-over-against-kkr/ Sun, 04 May 2025 19:25:00 GMT

Riyan Parag rapidly shifted his gear to the top and hit back-to-back 6 consecutive sixes, 5 sixes in a Moeen Ali over, and one for Varun Chakravarthy. The momentum of the match was suddenly tilted from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the Rajasthan Royals (RR), the visiting team at the Eden Gardens. Rajasthan Royals were in deep trouble while chasing a total of 206, losing a couple of wickets in 8 runs. When the match was under KKR's control, Riyan Parag applied the well-known battle method— attack is the best defense. It was the 13th over of the second innings whenand all-rounder Moeen Ali found himself in between a Parag strong. The right-handed RR batter powered 5 back-to-back maximums in the crucial moment of the match.

Take a look at how Riyan Parag hit back-to-back 6s:

5 sixes in Moeen Ali's over

12.2: It was a flat, full-length delivery to the pads, and Parag, without showing any mercy, hoisted the ball for a maximum to complete his 50, his first half-century of the ongoing IPL 2025.

12.3: Another full-length delivery from the KKR all-rounder; this time it was on the off, Parag reached towards the line of delivery, and sent it to the gallery for the second 6 of the over.

12.4: Moeen came round the wicket for a fuller on the legs; the ball was within Parag's scent, and the result was the same: a hat trick of sixes.

12.5: Ali again chose to drop a full-length delivery, this time on this middle. The Indian batter positioned himself front leg well to send the ball over long on.

12.6: Moeen Ali didn't learn from his mistakes and again preferred to go fuller after a wide delivery. Parag was well balanced to expand his arms and launched the ball over the long-off fence.

Take a look how Parag created the launch pad

A six for Varun Chakravarthy as well

13.2: The next ball Riyan Parag faced went for another biggie; this time, Varun Chakravarthy was the victim. Riyan went down to the ground and executed a well-crafted reverse sweep of the deep point region against a floater delivery.

Unfortunately, Parag's well-built 95 innings went in vain as KKR won the match by 1 run. After his dismissal, KKR bowled well in the death especially Harshit Rana, who held onto his nerves and helped KKR register much needed win. With this win KKR are still in the hunt for a playoff spot.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) generates great cricket and great memories, and one particularly special memory recently occurred when Riyan Parag, the explosive Rajasthan Royals batsman, made good on a bold statement he tweeted more than a year previously. On March 14, 2023, Parag tweeted, "My inner conscience says I’m hitting 4 sixes in an over at some point this IPL..." This was received with mixed reactions back then. The IPL has now moved onto its 2025 season, which puts Parag on track to prove the doubters wrong.

In a high-stakes IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals were chasing a daunting target of 207. The scoreboard read 134-5 in the 13th over when Riyan at the crease had already scored an astonishing 75 runs from just 31 balls, and he was then going to face Moeen Ali. What happened next was pure carnage, as Parag blasted five sixes in that over, which not only made Parag's statement come true but also rejuvenated RR's hopes in the run chase.

A Moment of Redemption and Confidence

As far as Riyan was concerned, this was not just a superb over of batting; it was also a turning point regarding belief and redemption in his career. He always came under a lot of scrutiny in the previous seasons due to his inconsistency, but now he has been working in silence on his game. His innings, with anything but hedged strokes, made real progress toward the goal, in addition to demonstrating the maturity and self-belief he has demonstrated along the way. His four sixes - two straight down the wicket, one over long-on, and one over the deep mid-wicket boundary - showcased his boundaries, timing, and conviction when hitting the ball.

Parag smashed the fifth six; social media went into a frenzy..... Fans were sharing his old tweets, and timelines were flooded with comparisons, memes, and praise of him, acknowledging his self-belief and his vision while also acknowledging him as one of the most improved players of the season.

Looking ahead, a form like Parag's is elementary to the Rajasthan Royals in the playoffs. With confidence and momentum, Riyan Parag has made an almighty statement not only as a social media personality but also as a genuine match-winner.

After Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag chose to bowl first, Gujarat Titans scored 209/4 in 20 overs. During the strategic time out, while Rajasthan Royals players were involved in reshaping their strategy, there was a scene where captain Riyan Parag had an unpleasant talk with the pacer Tushar Deshpande. Although the pacer was in the Impact players' list, he wasn't selected ultimately. Understanding the situation, the assistant and fast bowling coach Shane Bond quickly pushed Deshpande far to cool down the situation.

IPL 2025: Tushar Deshpande took six wickets in eight matches

The 29-year-old Tushar Deshpande has played eight matches this IPL season, where the right-arm medium pacer picked up six wickets. Although he started the season with three wickets against SunRisers Hyderabad on the tough bowling pitch in Hyderabad, where SRH scored 286 runs and RR lost by 44 runs, the pacer then only managed to pick wickets in two more games out of seven other outings.

Coming back to the stunning RR vs GT IPL 2025 match in Jaipur, RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi slammed a 166-run opening partnership in the 200+ chase. Suryavanshi scored a 17-ball 50 and then stretched that to the 35-ball hundred to record the second-fastest IPL century as well as the youngest IPL hundred. While he scored 101 off 38 balls (seven fours and 11 sixes), Jaiswal was not out for 70 runs in 40 balls (nine fours and two sixes), and Rajasthan Royals chased down the 210-run target in 15.5 overs after losing only two wickets.
