"Heartwarming Moment: Jaiswal Praises Starc on Field!"

In a riveting IPL game between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) last night, in the midst of boundary and gigantic hitting, there was a one-line comment that eclipsed the rest. Getting dismissed to the blistering speed and dead on target Mitchell Starc bowling, young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal said to him, "Legend, very well bowled."

This one line reflected not just sportsmanship but the essence of cricket itself – respect for excellence, experience, and ability. Starc, who has unsettled bowlers across the globe with his lethal left-arm speed, dismissed Jaiswal with a piece of magic. Instead of walking back to the pavilion in a huff, the young Indian gun displayed respect for the brilliance of the ball and the bowler who sent it down.

The moment immediately went viral, with the fans across all social media sites applauding it, proving how the game of gentlemen is very much alive and kicking in spirit.

Most Unexpected Moment in IPL 2025

Mitchell Starc, an old guard and a legend in more than a decade of time, was standing tall on the ground and received sincere appreciation from a budding cricketer in the future. Yashasvi Jaiswal, one of India's young stars, has already displayed his class and maturity not only in his performances but now even in his approach.

Those are the moments that remind us cricket still brings generations together – a "legend" inspiring a "future legend." Jaiswal's praise was not respect; it was a guarantee that the future of cricket is in good hands. As Starc smiled back at the compliment, it was clear: respect, humility, and admiration for one another are what make cricket more than a game, but an emotion felt around the globe.

This match may be remembered for figures and scores, but this moment will ring louder in the minds of true cricket fans.

The 32nd match of the ongoing IPL 2025 season turned out to be a high-voltage thriller, with Delhi Capitals (DC) edging past Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a dramatic Super Over finish. The match had everything—from powerful hitting and tight bowling to nail-biting moments—but one of the biggest turning points came when RR skipper Sanju Samson had to walk off the field, which significantly impacted his team’s momentum.

Sanju Samson, while batting during the final over of the powerplay, felt discomfort on his right side. Despite receiving quick medical attention from the physio and taking a tablet, he was visibly struggling. He attempted to continue but lasted only one more delivery before being forced to retire hurt due to pain around his rib cage.

His injury came at a crucial time in the innings and proved costly for the Rajasthan Royals. With Samson in fine form, his absence in the latter stages of the match left a void in the batting lineup. As RR failed to chase down the target in regulation time and eventually lost in the Super Over, many believe that Samson’s injury played a decisive role in the final outcome.

Sanju Samson provides an update about his injury

Sanju Samson was forced to retire hurt during the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals after feeling discomfort while batting. He had been in excellent form, scoring 31 runs off just 19 balls, including two boundaries and three sixes. Riyan Parag replaced him but failed to make an impact, scoring only 8 runs. After the match, Samson shared that his injury felt "alright" and he hoped for a quick recovery. He mentioned that he would observe his condition the following day to assess his readiness to return.

"It feels alright (his injury). I wasn't just ready to come back and bat. It feels alright now. We will observe it tomorrow and see how it is," the RR skipper said at the post match chat.

Sanju Samson has a history of several injuries, which worries the fans more. The talented batter missed Ranji Trophy matches for Kerala after his finger was injured by a sharp delivery from Jofra Archer when India was facing England at the Wankhede Stadium in a T20I match early this year.

Karun Nair, the hero of Delhi Capitals’ previous match, faced a disappointing dismissal in Match 32 of IPL 2025 against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 16. Coming off a sensational 89-run innings, Karun was run out for a three-ball duck at the non-striker’s end. The mix-up occurred after an inside edge from Abishek Porel deflected off his pad toward the backward point. Karun had already committed to the run but was sent back too late. Sandeep Sharma collected the throw and hit the stumps, catching Karun just short.

This unfortunate run-out marked the second wicket for Delhi Capitals. The first breakthrough came when Jofra Archer dismissed Jake Fraser-McGurk. The delivery rushed onto the batter, who attempted a wild swing, only to mistime it. Yashasvi Jaiswal made no mistake at extra cover, taking a simple catch. Despite the early losses, Delhi had a strong start, with Porel taking charge of the scoring and keeping the momentum alive.

Earlier in the evening, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first. Both teams remained unchanged from their previous games. Delhi Capitals entered the match after a narrow 12-run loss to Mumbai Indians at home, while Rajasthan Royals were looking to bounce back from a heavy nine-wicket defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Heading into this match, DC had secured four wins in the tournament, while RR had registered two victories so far in IPL 2025.

Delhi Capitals score 188 against RR, batting first

Delhi Capitals posted a competitive total of 188/5 in their allotted 20 overs after being put in to bat by Rajasthan Royals. The innings got off to a flying start thanks to a blazing knock from Jake Fraser-McGurk, who hammered 96 off just 64 balls, including 9 fours and 6 sixes, before being dismissed by Jofra Archer. Abishek Porel played a supporting role with a brisk 49 off 37 deliveries. However, the momentum dipped in the middle overs as Karun Nair was run out for a duck, and KL Rahul's slow 38 off 32 balls stalled the run flow.

Delhi's innings got back on track in the death overs with impactful cameos from Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel. Both batters scored 34 runs each, with strike rates of 188.89 and 242.86, respectively, injecting momentum into the back end of the innings. Ashutosh Sharma chipped in with an unbeaten 15 to finish things off. Rajasthan’s bowling attack was led by Jofra Archer, who claimed two wickets, while Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana took one apiece. Sandeep Sharma had a tough outing, leaking 33 runs in his 4 overs. DC also benefited from 9 extras and made a strong start in the powerplay, reaching 46 runs in the first six overs. Despite the dip in the middle phase, their explosive finish ensured a strong total on the board, putting pressure back on the Rajasthan Royals heading into the chase.

The dismissal of Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson during the DC vs RR game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi sparked controversy, leading to an animated conversation with the umpires.

The Disputed Catch

As Samson approached his century, he attempted a big hit but was caught out on the boundary by Shai Hope. However, the catch was contentious as it appeared too close to the ropes.

While one angle suggested a gap between the fielder’s shoes and the boundary line, other replays indicated otherwise. Despite the conflicting evidence, the on-field umpire’s decision to uphold the outcall remained unchanged.

Samson’s Reaction

The RR skipper started walking off and only to return to the middle to have what looked like a heated discussion with the onfield umpires. Meanwhile the Delhi Capitals ownership in the stands lets their emotions out which seem to be suggest that Samson has to go. This was a hit down the ground by Samson. Didn’t middle it well enough. Hope was close to the boundary and he made sure he didn’t step on the rope despite a couple of wobbly movements at the end. But the replays aren’t clear if Hope completed that clean without touching the boundary. Samson was walking off but the RR dugout believes the fielder touched the rope. Visibly displeased, Samson walked off the field but returned to engage in a heated discussion with the umpires. His frustration was evident as he contested the decision.

Before his controversial dismissal, Samson showcased exceptional batting skills, anchoring the innings alongside Riyan Parag. His aggressive innings, comprising eight fours and six sixes, played a crucial role in RR’s total. Samson smashed eight fours and 6 sixes en route to his 86-run knock off 46 deliveries.

Impact on the Match

The dismissal dealt a significant blow to Rajasthan Royals, affecting their momentum. Despite Samson’s valiant effort with the bat, his departure profoundly impacted the team’s prospects.

DC’s Involvement

DC co-owner Parth Jindal was observed signalling from the stands that Samson was indeed ‘out.’ This added another layer of complexity to the situation.

However, despite a valiant effort, they fell short of the target, succumbing to the relentless bowling attack of Rajasthan Royals. In a closely fought encounter, Delhi Capitals managed to post a total of 173/5 in their allotted 20 overs, showcasing their resilience amidst the pressure.

In his 100th IPL match, Pant showed promise but was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal after scoring 28 runs off 26 balls. Abhishek Porel couldn’t replicate his previous match’s heroics and fell to Chahal in the 16th over.
