Yashasvi Jaiswal went quietly about putting an end to speculation regarding his future with the Rajasthan Royals, not by a press statement, but in a few carefully selected words on Instagram. It started with a heartfelt post following the Royals' exit from IPL 2025. Jaiswal had written: "Thank you, Rajasthan Royals, for everything. Not the season we hoped for, but grateful for the journey."

Although the message was one of thanksgiving, it bred speculation among the fans and the media. Specifically, the line "grateful for the journey" raised alarm, as many saw it as a potential goodbye to the franchise, particularly after a dismal conclusion to the Royals' season.

Jaiswal's caption change calms fears of the supporters, suggesting unrelenting Royals' commitment and loyalty to their India duty

Seeing the emergence of false news, Jaiswal revised his caption and, with that, cleared the air. The revised caption is now: "Thanks, Rajasthan Royals, for it all. Not the campaign we had in mind, but still thankful for our time together. On to the next one and whatever comes next."

Two subtle but significant changes were notable. One, "grateful for the journey" was replaced by "grateful for our time together," a change that highlighted his affiliation with the franchise. Two, the inclusion of the Indian flag emoji following "on to the next one" signified that his priority of choice now is playing for the national team, not jumping between IPL franchises.

The transition, though subtle as it was, came as a relief to fans who had feared a sudden departure. Jaiswal's maturity and tact in managing the incident without fanfare and drama were well appreciated by fans. At 23, Jaiswal is still proving himself on and off the pitch. Having got the IPL out of the way, his focus now shifts to national duty, and if his confidence and composure are anything to go by, India is in for a treat. Jaiswal is not leaving anytime soon. True Blue to the Royals. Set for whatever comes next in India blue.

<![CDATA[Bad news for RR and CSK: Star players will miss IPL 2025]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/bad-news-for-rr-and-csk-star-players-will-miss-ipl-2025/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/bad-news-for-rr-and-csk-star-players-will-miss-ipl-2025/ Wed, 14 May 2025 23:31:41 GMT

Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were dealt a hard blow before IPL 2025 resumes on May 17. RR's ace pacer Jofra Archer, who was going to play the last two league matches, has been ruled out with a new injury, shattering hopes of his availability for the tournament. On the other hand, CSK's ace all-rounder Sam Curran has decided not to return to India; the team is already eliminated from the playoff race, currently placed in 10th position with 6 points from 12 matches.

The IPL was postponed for a week on May 9 when tensions between Pakistan and India escalated, resulting in air raid alerts during a Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala. A May 10 ceasefire relieved pressure, and the BCCI moved to reschedule the tournament with the final then fixed for June 3. But the teams are still dealing with the fallout of the no-shows caused by injuries and national duties, notably to vital overseas players Archer and Curran, affecting especially RR, at 9th place with 6 points, and CSK as they run through the balance of matches.

For RR, Archer's injury is a significant blow since he was meant to strengthen their bowling attack in the pivotal latter part of the tournament. An RR official confirmed that Archer will not be taking any more part in the IPL, although there's no indication of an interim replacement. CSK has opted not to apply for a replacement for Curran because of his ongoing injury and the need to focus on getting him fit rather than on a return, with them now out of playoff contention.

Uncertainty Surrounds Other English Players

The report further points out that a number of English players, such as Jos Buttler, Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, and Liam Livingstone, are heading back to India for the resumption of the IPL. Yet, their presence in the playoff stage is uncertain owing to national obligations, namely England's white-ball series against the West Indies from May 23, which conflicts with the latter stages of the IPL.

Also hanging in the balance is the availability of RCB's explosive opener Phil Salt, for whom the participation is still unclear, although other English players are back on the field. RCB, placed 2nd with 16 points from 11 games, will be hoping to get confirmation about Salt's availability as they seek to win their maiden IPL trophy for this delayed season.

<![CDATA[Vaibhav Suryavanshi – The New Sultan of Sixes in IPL 2025!]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/vaibhav-suryavanshi-the-new-sultan-of-sixes-in-ipl-2025/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/vaibhav-suryavanshi-the-new-sultan-of-sixes-in-ipl-2025/ Sun, 11 May 2025 11:07:08 GMT

In a season dominated by big batting performances, it's explosive and talented Vaibhav Suryavanshi who has emerged as the most effective six-hitter of IPL 2025. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, Suryavanshi has shown an incredible balls-per-six ratio of only 4.63, the highest in the tournament among batsmen having a minimum of 10 sixes. The 21-year-old phenom hit 16 sixes in 74 balls, declaring himself to be one of the most threatening finishers in the league this year.

Lying second to him in the ranking are some names who have become known in the game of T20 cricket.
West Indian left-hander Nicholas Pooran, representing Lucknow Super Giants, is ranked second with 6.00 balls per six, having slammed 34 sixes in 204 balls. Next in the queue is Abdul Samad, representing Sunrisers Hyderabad with a ranking of 6.14, demonstrating his power with 14 sixes in 86 balls. Such statistics highlight the supremacy of Suryavanshi over a few of the game's biggest explosive hitters.

Even hard-hitters like Tim David (6.86) and Andre Russell (7.21), known for their big-hitting capabilities, fall behind the young Indian talent. With just a handful of games under his belt, Suryavanshi’s consistency and fearlessness against pace and spin have been impressive. His ability to clear the boundary regularly with minimal dot balls is what sets him apart.

A Rising Star in the Making

Suryavanshi’s emergence has brought a new spark to Rajasthan Royals' batting line-up. Often used as a floater, he has consistently provided late-innings firepower, turning tight games in his team's favor. His clean hitting, especially against spinners in the middle overs, has drawn comparisons to Indian greats like Yusuf Pathan and Hardik Pandya during their prime.

As the IPL progresses into its crucial final weeks, fans and analysts alike will be closely watching if the youngster can maintain his red-hot form. With India’s T20 squad soon to be announced for the World Cup later this year, there’s already buzz that Suryavanshi might find a spot as a surprise package.

His IPL 2025 showing proves that a new six-hitting superstar may just be on the rise.

Former England football manager Gareth Southgate will carry on his surprise Indian cricket tour after visiting the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) match at Eden Gardens tomorrow. His surprise visit earlier this week at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, during which he wore an RR jersey for their face-off against the Mumbai Indians, had already created a stir on social media.

The veteran football strategist, who led England to the semifinals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and back-to-back European Championship finals in 2020 and 2024, looked very much involved when he watched the IPL match at Jaipur. Sitting next to Olympic medallist and BJP MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Southgate was observed intently watching the proceedings and cheering both teams which indicated a non-committal yet positive attitude towards the high-velocity nature of cricket.

Supporters were both amazed and fascinated by his appearance, with many guessing at a deeper cricket affiliation. Some even discovered a 2016 village cricket scorecard, where Southgate, after England's early Euro exit, was spotted playing for Yorkshire's Nidderdale League. That ancient tale, combined with his recent IPL 2025 appearances, suggests a long but secret love of the game.

After Jaipur, Southgate set to witness more IPL action

Though his first-time IPL appearance concluded in disappointment for the Royals, who were eliminated from the playoff contention following a 100-run thrashing at the hands of Mumbai Indians, Southgate's sporting interest remained unfazed. His next trip to Eden Gardens one of the world's most famous cricket arenas promises another drama, particularly with both KKR and RR seeking vital points during the final leg of the league stage.

Southgate resigned as England manager in mid-2024 after a close loss to Spain in the Euro final.Sitting idle and with a clear love for sport, his tour of India is generating cross-sport admiration and even suggestions of possible collaborations on coaching, leadership, or sporting development.

Whether this is a portent of more serious engagement with cricket or just a post-retirement indulgence, Southgate's IPL tour has already won fans on two continents.

Cricket fans traveling to Eden Gardens on Sunday for the IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are in for more than the deciding clash the very popular Super Sixes Challenge is back, infusing another dose of fun to the spectators.

A crowd-pleaser among supporters, the Super Sixes Challenge gives matchday celebrations an interactive twist, with fortunate fans having the opportunity to show off their big-hitting skills before the game. With sixes flying in the game and now in the stands as well, Eden Gardens is sure to be electric and charged with excitement.

This added excitement arrives at a pivotal juncture of KKR's season. Still competing for a playoff position, they need to win all their remaining games to draw level on 17 points a challenge, but not a far-fetched one. Saturday's game is their second-last home game, and victory is not negotiable to continue their playoff hopes alive.

High stakes and big hits await fans at Eden Gardens on Sunday

KKR gave us a glimpse of their best in the last match against Delhi Capitals. Rinku Singh and Andre Russell found their touch again, and Sunil Narine was back to his best in terms of wicket-taking. But consistency has been their biggest problem, and they will need Venkatesh Iyer and others to deliver if they are to make a serious playoff push.

For RR, now out, pride and planning for the future take center stage. Young guns such as Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal have burst onto the scene in moments, but the team has been unable to carry the momentum through. With Sanju Samson and Sandeep Sharma being rested, this is an opportunity for young players to make a claim for IPL 2026.

With big-stakes cricket on the pitch and the crowd-pleasing Super Sixes Challenge back off it, Sunday's game at Eden Gardens is set to be a thrilling spectacle. For spectators, it's an opportunity to see not only the heroes on the pitch but perhaps even become one themselves, at least for a few adrenaline-fueled swings of the bat.

<![CDATA[IPL Controversy: Why RCB escaped penalty after Suyash Sharma’s unusual move vs RR]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-controversy-why-rcb-escaped-penalty-after-suyash-sharma-s-unusual-move-vs-rr/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-controversy-why-rcb-escaped-penalty-after-suyash-sharma-s-unusual-move-vs-rr/ Fri, 25 Apr 2025 16:41:54 GMT

During the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), Suyash Sharma's unusual fielding methods caught the attention of many RCB fans. In trying to field the ball, Sharma picked it up with his cap, which in usual circumstances would incur a penalty of five runs for the batting side. My contention is RCB was able to escape this penalty because the umpires had already called the ball dead, which made the action non-offending.

The case in question suggests that the ball was dead on the ninth over. Sharma was fielding as short third man, and by the looks of it, he was attempting to cap the ball.
Capping the ball or picking it up with a cap is a violation of law 28.2.1.2 and will not only result in monetary punishment, but the ball will be considered dead, and a five-run gift will be given to the batting team. The difference here is the umpires had already signaled for a dead ball; therefore, there was no punishment.

The on-field umpires talked with the third umpire to verify the events of the game. After the review, there were no penalties, so the game could go on without interruptions.

RCB Clinches First Home Victory in IPL 2025

Not taking the drama into consideration, RCB triumphed at home for the first time this season as they managed to defeat RR by 11 runs at their home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli continued his good form by scoring 70 runs off 42 balls, while Padikkal scored a rapid 50 runs off just 27, which helped RCB set a defendable total of 205/5.

Sportsbetting.ag wrapped up the RR innings at 194 and stood at 9 in their 20 overs.
The penultimate over was bowled by Josh Hazlewood, who put the brakes on the RR innings when they looked to sail to victory, giving away only one run and taking a stunning two wickets, thus winning the match for RCB.

Having won this match, RCB stood at third position in the IPL 2025 standings after this match, which showcased a stark improvement in their performance at home and hopeful RCB fans for the playoffs.

<![CDATA[Cricket fraternity unites to slam Pahalgam attack – Powerful stand against terror]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/cricket-fraternity-unites-to-slam-pahalgam-attack-powerful-stand-against-terror/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/cricket-fraternity-unites-to-slam-pahalgam-attack-powerful-stand-against-terror/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 13:36:30 GMT

On April 22, 2025, a tragic terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 28 people, most of whom were tourists, in the beautiful surroundings of Baisaran Valley, commonly referred to as "Mini Switzerland." The attack was carried out by The Resistance Front (TRF), which is a splinter group of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and was one of the worst attacks since the 2019 Pulwama attack and was targeted at civilians. This attack claimed 24 Indian tourists, two locals, and two foreigners, with more than 20 people reported as injured. The global cricketing community demonstrated a rare and extraordinary act of solidarity as players, boards, and fans sided with the victims and their families and condemned the attack on civilians, stood against terrorism, and expressed a united front.

Indian Cricketers and IPL Teams Lead Tributes

Indian cricketers, both current and past, took to social media, particularly X, really expressing their sadness and anger and supporting peace and the bravery of security forces. Virat Kohli, who captained India previously, tweeted, "Devastated with the news from Pahalgam. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. Violence has no place in our world. Praying for peace and strength for all those affected." Sachin Tendulkar, a cricketing icon, tweeted, "Shocked and saddened by the inhumane act in Pahalgam. My deepest condolences to the victims families. India tands united against terrorism." Gautam Gambhir, India’s head coach, demanded justice, posting, “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam.”

Virender Sehwag lamented, "Deeply pained to hear of the indecent terrorist attack on innocent tourists in #Pahalgam. Prayers for the injured." Irfan Pathan, who was in Kashmir just before this attack, said, "Every time an innocent life is lost, humanity is lost. This pain feels too close."

IPL teams also condemned the violence. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) expressed, "Deeply saddened and shocked… Our hearts go out to the families of the innocent lives lost in Pahalgam." Delhi Capitals (DC) expressed, "Heartbroken by the tragic loss of lives in Pahalgam. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims. #StandAgainstTerror." Rajasthan Royals (RR) stated, "Devastated by the senseless violence in Pahalgam. We stand united with the victims and the families and are praying for peace." Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wrote, "Shocked by the horrific atrocity that took place in Pahalgam. Our deepest condolences to all the families affected. Violence has no place in our society." Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) wrote, "Deeply pained by the tragedy of Pahalgam. Our prayers are with the victims and their loved ones." These posts... dedicated to the victims and families and posted on X... are a demonstration of the commitment by IPL to unity in opposition of terror.

Indian Cricket Board and Fans Respond

Messages also poured in from international cricketing organizations and players. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement: “The BCCI mourns the loss of lives in the Pahalgam attack and stands in solidarity with the victims and their families. Cricket is a sport which unites the masses and we are firmly against such divisive, violent acts.”

Fans from around the globe took to social media using tweets like #StandwithPahalgam and #CricketforPeace and made cricket forums into places of memorials. The attack, which targeted a tourism hotspot, struck a nerve with cricketers who had seen and appreciated and felt humbled by Kashmir that intensify their emotions. It also sparked debates on India-Pakistan cricketing ties, with Goswami’s views reflecting broader frustrations.

The IPL is known for creating superstars and delivering unforgettable performances, but every season also sees its share of underwhelming displays — especially from those expected to shine. IPL 2025 has been no different. While some players have risen to the occasion, a few big names have failed to live up to their billing, letting down fans and franchises alike. From misfiring batters to bowlers lacking impact, these players have struggled to find form, consistency, or match-winning influence. With the playoff race heating up, their poor performances have become glaring. Here's a look at the IPL 2025 Flop XI — a team composed of some of the biggest disappointments so far, proving that reputation alone doesn't guarantee success in the IPL arena;

Top Order

The openers for Flop XI will be Quinton De Kock and Rohit Sharma. Quinton de Kock has played 7 matches in IPL 2025, scoring 143 runs at an average of 23.83 and a strike rate of 137.50. His highest score is an unbeaten 97, and he has registered one half-century so far, hitting 9 fours and 11 sixes across his innings. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has featured in 7 matches so far in IPL 2025 but has managed just one notable knock — an unbeaten 76*. With a total of 158 runs at an average of 26.33 and a strike rate of 154.90, his form has been underwhelming, despite his lone impactful innings. The number three spot will be of Rahul Tripathi has played 5 matches in IPL 2025, scoring just 55 runs at a disappointing average of 11.00 and a strike rate of 96.49. With a highest score of 23 and no major contributions, his form has been underwhelming, managing only 6 fours and 1 six across his outings.

Middle Order and All-rounders

The number four spot will be taken by Venkatesh Iyer. Iyer was one of the most expensive picks in the IPL auction, but his performances so far haven’t lived up to the hype. In 8 matches, he has played 6 innings, scoring 135 runs at an average of 22.50 and a strike rate of 139.17. Despite one half-century, consistency is missing. The number five spot will be taken in by Nitish Kumar Reddy Reddy has failed to leave a strong impact in IPL 2025. In 7 games, he’s played 6 innings, scoring 131 runs at an average of 21.83 and a strike rate of 113.91. With a top score of just 32 and no half-centuries, consistency has been missing. The number six spot will be taken by Rishabh Pant. Pant was the most expensive player of IPL 2025 at ₹27 crores, has failed to justify his price tag. In 9 matches, he has scored just 106 runs across 8 innings, with a below-par average of 13.25 and a strike rate of 96.36. His only notable knock was a 63-run effort.

The number seven spot will be taken by Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell has had a forgettable IPL 2025 so far. In 6 matches, he’s batted in 5 innings and managed to score just 41 runs, averaging a disappointing 8.20 with a strike rate of 100.00. With no fifties and only one six to his name, the Aussie star has struggled for form. The number eighth will be taken in by Liam Livingstone. Livingstone, too, hasn’t delivered up to expectations. In 7 matches and 6 innings, he’s managed only 87 runs, averaging 17.40 with a strike rate of 127.94. Despite having a fifty to his name, his overall returns have been underwhelming for a player of his caliber.

Bowlers

Mohammed Shami has had a forgettable IPL 2025 so far. In 7 matches, he has bowled 24 overs, conceding 261 runs and picking up just 5 wickets. With a high average of 52.20 and an economy rate of 10.87, his best figures stand at 2/28. He's struggled to make any real impact this season. Matheesha Pathirana has been expensive and inconsistent in IPL 2025. In 6 matches, he has bowled 21.4 overs, conceding 226 runs while taking 7 wickets. With an average of 32.28 and an economy rate of 10.43, his best figures are 2/28. Despite flashes of brilliance, he's struggled to maintain control and impact. Ravichandran Ashwin has had a forgettable IPL 2025 so far. In 7 matches, he has bowled 24 overs, conceding 223 runs and picking up just 5 wickets. With a high bowling average of 44.60 and an economy rate of 9.29, his best figures this season are 2/48, reflecting his underwhelming form.

<![CDATA[[WATCH] IPL 2025: Emotional Vaibhav Suryavanshi breaks down after getting out in RR vs LSG clash]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-ipl-2025-emotional-vaibhav-suryavanshi-breaks-down-after-getting-out-in-rr-vs-lsg-clash/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-ipl-2025-emotional-vaibhav-suryavanshi-breaks-down-after-getting-out-in-rr-vs-lsg-clash/ Sat, 19 Apr 2025 23:24:08 GMT

History was scripted at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 19, 2025, as 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest cricketer to debut in the Indian Premier League. Representing Rajasthan Royals in a high-octane clash against Lucknow Super Giants, the young prodigy showcased incredible talent and composure well beyond his years. Fans and cricket pundits alike watched in awe as Suryavanshi stepped onto the field, etching his name in IPL history with confidence and flair rarely seen in players so young.

Brought in as an Impact Player for captain Sanju Samson, Suryavanshi entered the RR innings at a crucial juncture during their run chase. He made an unforgettable first impression by smashing his very first delivery—bowled by Shardul Thakur—over extra cover for a stunning six. The young left-hander continued his aggressive approach with a series of elegant strokes, quickly making headlines. His bold stroke play in a pressure scenario left everyone—from commentators to teammates—singing his praises.

Suryavanshi ended his debut innings with a quickfire 34 runs from just 20 balls, which included two crisp boundaries and three massive sixes. His fearless display instantly won over fans in the stadium and on social media, who were taken aback by his maturity and batting prowess. Despite the pressure of a big match, he played with a calm mindset and a powerful intent, giving Rajasthan Royals a much-needed boost and becoming a beacon of India’s next-generation cricket talent.

Emotions Overflow After Heartbreaking Dismissal

Just when it seemed that the young man was set for a record half-century, his innings ended in despair. Playing against Aiden Markram in the ninth over, Suryavanshi moved down the pitch for another big shot. But the ball turned past his bat, and LSG skipper Rishabh Pant had no hesitation in getting a sharp stumping done. The third umpire validated the dismissal, and the young batter was seen to be heartbroken.

As he made his way back to the dugout, Vaibhav was unable to suppress his feelings. TV cameras recorded the sobbing debutant wiping away his tears, a scene that immediately went viral and touched hearts across the cricketing world. Suryavanshi's knock was historic even though it fell short of a half-century. He became just the tenth player in league history to hit a six off the opening ball of their career, and his three sixes were the second-most by a player on their IPL debut. Despite the poignant conclusion, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's daring debut has already cemented his place in IPL history. He has already demonstrated at the age of 14 that he has the temperament and skill to succeed on the biggest stage, and this is undoubtedly only the start of an incredible journey.
