It was another toss between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, but it was a big toss as they were playing in the tournament Final. While it is the first Asia Cup Final meeting between India and Pakistan, we experienced a very strange incident at the toss.

There is a tension between India and Pakistan in the entire Asia Cup 2025 due to the present tense situation between the two countries. The relation between the two cricket teams has also been affected in this tournament, as there are no handshakes, which the Indian team has decided to maintain away from the Pakistan team.

Once again, the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav maintained no handshake status with the Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha in the Asia Cup 2025 Final toss on Sunday (September 28) at Dubai. After the Indian captain SKY won the toss, he confidently chose to bowl first. But then we experienced a very strange incident.

Asia Cup 2025 Final, India vs Pakistan - Toss: Ravi Shastri interviewed Indian captain; Waqar Younis interviewed Pakistan captain

While the Indian captain Suryakumar gave the interview to the former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri, the former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis interviewed the Pakistan skipper Salman Agha. We always experience that only one anchor, generally a reputed commentator, takes both captains' interviews at the toss. But the Asia Cup 2025 Final has experienced this rare incident where both captains gave the toss interviews to different commentators.

Asia Cup 2025 Final: Hardik Pandya missing the Final

During the toss, the Indian captain brought the harsh news for the Indian cricket fans, as the star all-rounder Hardik Pandya would miss the Asia Cup 2025 Final due to an injury. Apart from Pandya, India have all other strong names for the Final, while Rinku Singh joined the playing XI in the absence of Pandya. Meanwhile, Pakistan have named their usual strong side for the tournament Final.

The Indian team has decided not to shake hands with Pakistan cricketers in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, which they maintained in their two meetings in the tournament, and the Men in Blues are very likely to maintain it on Sunday (September 28) during the Asia Cup 2025 Final. On the eve of the Asia Cup 2025 Final, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha has finally reacted to this decision.

Asia Cup 2025 Final: India vs Pakistan - The Indian team decided not to shake hands with the Pakistan team

While the Indian team has maintained their friendly status, including shaking hands with all other teams in the Asia Cup 2025, they have decided not to shake hands with the Pakistan cricketers in the tournament as a protest against the 2025 Pahalgam attack last April, where 26 civilians were killed.

Although the handshake isn't a compulsory gesture in any international cricket matches, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hasn't taken that incident lightly, as the board demanded the match referee's suspension by alleging that the referee took sides for the Indian team in that matter.

No handshakes are not good for cricket: Pakistan captain

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha feels that no handshakes are not good for cricket. He claimed that he never experienced it previously.

In the pre-match press conference, Pakistan skipper said, “As far as handshakes are concerned, I’ve been playing professional cricket since 2007 at the under-16 level. I’ve never seen two teams not shaking hands during the match. Even my father is a big cricket fan, I’ve heard stories about the game from him. He never told me that anything like that happened in the past, that two teams playing cricket didn’t shake hands. I’ve always heard that no such thing has ever happened on a cricket field. India and Pakistan have played earlier as well when the relations between the two countries were even worse. Even then, there used to be handshakes. According to me, no handshakes are not good for cricket.”

Talking more about the no handshake row, Pakistan captain added, “They can do whatever they want, we will just follow the protocol. Rest is upto them, if they wanna come, then come and if they don’t. We can’t do anything.”

India and Pakistan have already met twice in the Asia Cup 2025, once in the group stage and the other in the Super Fours, and on both occasions India comfortably defeated their arch-rivals. While Indian cricketers didn't shake hands with Pakistan players in both those matches, their last game was heated on the field. While Pakistan refused to attend the pre-match press conference against India at the Super Fours, they haven't repeated it before the tournament Final.

India and Pakistan will face off against each other for the last time in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, as they will meet in the Final of the tournament, which will be their first meeting in the 41-year-old Asia Cup Final history. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha has confirmed that the Men in Green are ready to handle the in-form Men in Blues in the Final.

India thrashed Pakistan in two meetings in the Asia Cup 2025

India have dominated in the Asia Cup 2025, as they are favourites for the tournament. Starting as the favourites, the Men in Blues have absolutely dominated in every match of the tournament. They have already faced Pakistan twice in the tournament, and on both occasions, India just thrashed them.

In the Group A fixture, India beat Pakistan by seven wickets with 25 balls remaining. Later, in the Super Fours, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side claimed another dominant six-wicket win with seven balls remaining.

On the other hand, Pakistan had to wait for their last games in both the group stage and Super Fours to qualify for the next rounds. It was a challenging fixture for Pakistan against Bangladesh, where both teams could qualify for the tournament by winning the match. Although Pakistan were restricted to 135/8 in 20 overs, after once struggling at 49/5, Bangladesh failed to chase the target, as they were restricted to 124/9 in 20 overs, as Pakistan won by 11 runs to reach the Final of the Asia Cup 2025.

We are a good enough team to beat anyone: Pakistan captain

Now, India and Pakistan will face each other for the third time in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, and it will be the ultimate game of the tournament. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha is excited for the upcoming Asia Cup Final, as he believes that they are good enough to beat anyone.

Pakistan captain said at the post-match presentation against Bangladesh in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2025, "Very excited. We know what we need to do, and we are a good enough team to beat anyone, and we will come on Sunday and try to beat them."

Pakistan will meet Bangladesh in the fifth Super Fours match of the Asia Cup 2025 on Thursday, September 25, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Following India's consecutive victories that have already secured their place in the final, this fixture now assumes huge significance. The winner will advance to the final on Sunday and have the chance to play against the Men in Blue for the continental crown. Both teams will be under immense pressure to perform in this practical semifinal.

Pakistan will head into this must-win match on the back of an excellent victory against Sri Lanka, bouncing back well from their earlier loss to India. Their strong bowling attack found the best rhythm in the last match, and once again, they will rely on it to demolish the Bangladesh batting card. On the other hand, Bangladesh lost to India, but loss came without a lot of first-choice players. With Litton Das and Mahedi Hasan coming back, the Tigers' line-up is looking much stronger, and should put up a tough fight.

Pakistan secured their spot in the Asia Cup 2025 final after prevailing over Bangladesh by 11 runs in a nailbiting low-scoring thriller at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, allowing them to face bitter rivals India for the first time in an Asia Cup final.

Bangladesh, led by stand-in skipper Jaker Ali, chose to bowl first. The Bangladesh bowlers were outstanding, restricting Pakistan to 135/8. Taskin Ahmed finished with 3/28, while leg-spinner Rishad Hossain took a commendable 2/18. Pakistan’s batting struggled, losing wickets regularly. Sahibzada Farhan fell in the first over, and Saim Ayub recorded his fourth duck in six innings. Fakhar Zaman scored 13 before departing, and Hussain Talat was soon out. Mohammad Haris (31 off 23) and Mohammad Nawaz (25 off 15) added some runs, while Shaheen Shah Afridi contributed 19, hitting the first six of the innings before falling to Taskin.

Bangladesh’s chase began poorly as Shaheen Afridi struck in the opening over to remove Parvez Hossain Emon and then dismissed Towhid Hridoy. Saif Hassan counterattacked with 18 off 15 but fell to Haris Rauf, triggering a collapse. Shamim Hossain (30 off 25) tried to stabilize the innings, but wickets continued to fall. Saim Ayub picked up two important wickets, including captain Jaker Ali. Haris Rauf dismissed Tanzim Sakib and Taskin Ahmed in quick succession, while Shaheen Afridi claimed a three-wicket haul. Bangladesh’s lower order fought hard, with Rishad Hossain scoring 16 off 11, but they eventually fell short, finishing on 124/9.

PAK vs BAN: Who Said What?

Shaheen Shah Afridi (Player of the Match):

"I will dedicate this award to my beautiful wife and son who are here. You need early breakthroughs. Those three overs made the difference in the powerplay. I was working on the slower ball. It came out well in the main time. Team decided I will go with Nawaz and Faheem behind me. I got two sixes and that gave us the momentum."

Salman Agha (Pakistan Captain):

"If you win these kind of games, then we must be a special team. Everyone played really well. There is some improvement needed in batting. But we will work on that. Shaheen is a special player. He does what the team needs of him. Very happy for him. We were 15 runs short. The way we bowled up front, we will create pressure. We bowled well with the new ball. More often that not you will games if you bowl like this. We have been fielding well. Shane has been working hard on us. We have been having extra sessions. Mike Hesson said if you cant field, you wont be in the team. We are a good enough team to beat anyone. We will come back on Sunday and try and do that."

Jaker Ali (Bangladesh Captain):

"As a batting unit, last two games we lost it. We did good work with the bowling unit. Yesterday also the batting cost us the game. I tried to take those chances. I tried to adjust to the captaincy. Our bowlers Rishad and then Said with the bat. Unfortunately, we didn't support Saif much."

Pakistan produced an all-round performance to beat Sri Lanka by five wickets in their 4 clash of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday. Chasing 134, Pakistan crossed the finish line with 12 balls to spare, riding on a match-winning stand between Hussain Talat and Mohammad Nawaz after losing early wickets.

Sri Lanka, asked to bat first, struggled to find rhythm in their innings. Shaheen Shah Afridi struck early, removing Kusal Mendis for a duck and Pathum Nissanka soon after. Kusal Perera’s brief cameo was ended by Haris Rauf, while captain Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka fell in quick succession, leaving Sri Lanka in deep trouble. Kamindu Mendis offered resistance with a well-made 50 off 44 balls, but with little support apart from Wanindu Hasaranga (15) and Chamika Karunaratne (17*), Sri Lanka were restricted to 133/8 in 20 overs. Afridi starred with 3/28, Hussain Talat chipped in with two key strikes, and Abrar Ahmed’s spell of 4-0-8-0 built crucial pressure.

In reply, Pakistan started briskly with Sahibzada Farhan’s 24 off 15 balls and Fakhar Zaman’s 17, but both fell to Maheesh Theekshana in the Powerplay. Hasaranga’s double strike then reduced Pakistan to 57/4, raising Sri Lanka’s hopes. However, Hussain Talat (32 off 30) and Mohammad Nawaz (38* off 24) steadied the chase with a 58-run partnership. Nawaz’s clean hitting in the final overs sealed victory, as Pakistan reached 138/5 in 18 overs.

SL vs PAK: Who Said What?

Hussain Talat (Player of the Match):

It is difficult as it is hot. The conditions were not easy. I took my time. The conditions don't allow you to go full fledged even if you want to play aggressive cricket. The captain and coach talked to me. The plan was go to and attack. But I backed my gut feeling. I wanted to take some time and then felt the boundaries will come. There was a lot of humidity. My energy was low. At the end, we decided he will go for the big shots. I was working on my bowling quite a lot with my bowling coach. I had to back my plan B. If I bowl two good overs, I knew my team will benefit.

Salman Agha (Pakistan Captain):

I always smile. Can't say it is a perfect game. We lost four wickets in 3 overs. Apart from that, it was a perfect game. We need to stop these. Our fielding coach has been working really hard with him. We have named him Rockstar. Our players have been doing extra on the field. Shaheen has been bowling really well. He is an asset for us. He is a match-winner. We play so many all-rounders as the game nowadays demands that. I know Talat for several years. Really happy for him. Nawaz as a batter has so much potential. Hope both can continue. Abrar has been bowling well. Whenever we are in a difficult situation, I go to him. Hope he can continue like this for many more seasons for Pakistan.

Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka Captain):

If you lose 5 wickets before the 10th over, it will be hard. The surface was good. They bowled and fielded really well in the first 8-9 overs. We just scored 133. But we didn't give up and fought really hard. Hasaranga is a super star in white ball cricket.

India once again demonstrated their ability to chase, with a thrilling six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 21. Having won the toss, captain Suryakumar Yadav decided to bowl first and laid the platform with India's positive, confident style of play.

Pakistan had a decent start as Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub provided a steady platform. Farhan played fluently for 58 off 45 balls, while Ayub (who had a number of consecutive ducks in the previous T20s) added 21 off 17 balls; Mohammad Nawaz (21), captain Salman Agha (17*) and Faheem Ashraf (20*) also contributed to give Pakistan a competitive total of 171/5 in 20 overs. Shivam Dube was the best bowler with 2/33 while Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav picked up one wicket each.

India were quick to reply, as opening batsman Abhishek Sharma, along with Shubman Gill, attacked their innings, scoring 105 runs for the first wicket partnership. Gill made 47 runs off 28 balls while Abhishek embarked on his innings smashing 74 runs off just 39 deliveries.. Captain Suryakumar Yadav had a rare off day out for a duck, and Sanju Samson contributed a mere 13 runs before Tilak Varma came to the finish hitting 30 off 19 balls without losing any wickets.

IND vs PAK: Who Said What?

Abhishek Sharma (Player of the Match):
Today was pretty simple, the way they were coming out to us without any reason, I did not like it at all.
That's why I went after them. I wanted to deliver for the team. We have been playing since school days, we enjoy each other's company, we thought we would do it and today was the day. The way he was giving it back, I really enjoyed it. If you see someone playing like this, that's the intent I show and I'm practicing really hard and if it's my day, I'm gonna win it for my team.

Salman Agha (Pakistan Captain):
We are yet to play a perfect game, but we are getting there.
A great game but in the powerplay they took the game away from us. After 10 overs, we could have got 10-15 more. 170-180 is a good total but in the powerplay they batted well, that was the difference. If you see the bowlers are going for runs, you need to change it, that's how it goes in T20s. There's a lot of positives - the way Fakhar batted, Farhan batted and Harry bowled.

Suryakumar Yadav(India Captain):
The way the boys are stepping up in every game, it's making my job very easy.
The boys showed a lot of character. They were calm after the first 10 overs (of India's bowling innings). After drinks, I told them the game starts now. That's fine, he's not a robot, he will have a bad day someday (talking about Bumrah). Dube bailed us out of the situation. They complement each other really well (Abhishek and Gill). It's like a fire and ice combination. After the first innings, our fielding coach has emailed all players who had butter fingers today.

Once again, the Asia Cup 2025 has the India vs Pakistan match, and this Super Fours stage fixture has no decision change from the Indian side, as there was no handshake between the captains at the toss.

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2025 Super 4, Match 2: India vs Pakistan Toss Update and Playing XIs

No handshake between Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Agha

Dubai International Cricket Stadium is hosting the India vs Pakistan Super Fours match in the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday (September 21), where the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav chose to bowl first after winning the toss. While there were a lot of dramas from Pakistan for the no-handshake decision from the Indian cricket team during their group stage meeting in the tournament last Sunday (September 14) night, where the Men in Blues won by seven wickets, the Indian team has once again go with the same decision in the Super Fours, as there was no handshake between the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan skipper Salman Agha at the toss.

While the Indian team also decided not to shake hands at the end of their group stage game against Pakistan, we can see the same situation at the end of the Super Fours fixture tonight. It will be interesting to see how the Pakistan cricket team and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) react to the latest decision, while they had stretched the previous incident to the other matches, including cancelling the pre-match press conference last evening. There are no official rules for a mandatory handshake between the teams at the toss or at the end of the match.

Asia Cup 2025 (Super Fours), IND vs PAK: Both teams made two changes

In the Super Fours stage encounter, both teams made two important changes in the playing XI. In the Indian squad, Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy have returned as the replacements for Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh. Meanwhile, Hussain Talat and Faheem Ashraf have been included in the Pakistan playing XI as replacements for Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha has urged his team to sharpen their batting in the middle overs as they prepare for a high-stakes Super Four clash against India on September 21. His comments came after Pakistan’s 41-run victory over the UAE, a result that sealed their place in the next stage of the Asia Cup but once again exposed weaknesses in their batting lineup.

“We got the job done but we needed to bat better in the middle overs,” Agha said after the match. “The bowlers did well. We haven't batted to our best yet. If we batted well, we would have ended up with 170-180. Shaheen is a match winner. His batting has improved. Abrar has been outstanding. He is someone who is bringing us back into the games. We are ready for any challenge. If we play good cricket, we can be good against any side.”

Pakistan managed only 146/9 against the UAE, saved by a late cameo from Shaheen Shah Afridi, who struck an unbeaten 29 off 14 balls.
However, the top and middle orders once again let Pakistan down, with Saim Ayub failing to score a run in three matches and Agha struggling to hold the innings together in the middle.

Focus on Middle Overs and India Rivalry

The skipper reiterated that Pakistan must specifically address their struggles between overs 7 and 15, which have repeatedly left them short of competitive totals. “Yeah, we're ready for any challenge,” Agha said. “We just want to play good cricket, and if we play good cricket like we've been playing for the last few months.”

Their upcoming contest against India is set against a charged backdrop. The group-stage meeting ended in a seven-wicket win for India, overshadowed by the no-handshake controversy linked to wider political tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack. With both sides now in the Super Four, Agha believes a sharper batting display could decide Pakistan’s fortunes. “We just want to play good cricket… If we play good cricket, we can be good against any side," he concluded
