PBKS vs MI: Post Match Reactions

Ricky Ponting (Head Coach of PBKS): Ponting pointed out that the team's form is a result of the planning that took place months prior to the auction. He stated that Arya is one of the biggest finds of the tournament and praised Shreyas Iyer for his leadership. He also added that strong overseas leaders such as Inglis and Stoinis helped create a winning culture. Ponting answered questions about swapping Jansen with Kyle Jamieson and wanted to give Jamieson some experiences.

Hardik Pandya (Captain of MI): Hardik admitted that MI fell 20 runs short. He praised the batting of the opponent and said that the team will reflect on their batting strategies. He expressed his support for his players despite the loss and stated that the learning phase has started to regroup into the playoffs.

Josh Inglis (Player of the Match): Josh Inglis remarked that the left-right combination and smart cricket contributed to their successful chase. He said they focused on match-ups and not giving MI a chance in the middle overs. When facing Mitchell Santner, whom he knows pretty well, they targeted the short boundary.   He emphasized the talent of Priyansh Arya, saying that he needed little guidance and called him a smart and fearless cricketer. He commended Shreyas Iyer for promoting him to Number 3 and added that it helped him return to rhythm and contribute more effectively.

Shreyas Iyer (PBKS Captain): Shreyas Iyer credited the team unity, camaraderie, and ability to rally in tough situations. He credited Ricky Ponting's attributes to great player management and said trust and belief in the group have been key. Young players like Arya have stepped in and been able to handle the pressure well. The decision to move Inglis up the order was a tactical decision to get the most out of him with the new ball.

Weather and Pitch Report

On May 26, 2025, weather conditions in Jaipur are predicted to be warm, from 28°C to 32°C, and humidity between 25% and 35%. The chance of rain is also low (~10%), with drier weather in the forecast. The Sawai Mansingh Stadium pitch is known to be batting friendly, with good pace and bounce in the early stages of play, and short boundaries should produce some big scores. The surface tends to slow down in the second half of the innings, though, which will aid spin bowlers in the middle overs. There should be dew later in the evening, so chasing should be the option, as 64% (40/63) of the second batting teams have won in this venue. For tactical reasons, Captains winning the toss should expect to bowl first as well.

PBKS vs MI: Match Preview

Despite a six-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals, PBKS come into this game with bowling concerns (Yuzvendra Chahal is likely not play, because of a wrist injury), but the batting is still in good shape Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya are providing explosive starts at the top, Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis can anchor the middle order, and they provide firepower at the death with their key bowler Arshdeep Singh sitting on 16 wickets.

MI is in great shape coming off a dominant display against Delhi, and Suryakumar Yadav's 73* saw him finish the campaign with 583 runs. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya provide the right level of experience and depth at the top before MI can unleash Bumrah and Boult at the death. While MI has a superior run rate and experience, Rohit's battle with left-arm seamers like Arshdeep and left-arm spinners like Ravi Bishnoi could become a critical match-up in this game.

Weather and Pitch Report

The weather in Jaipur on May 24, 2025, will be hot and hazy; the temperatures will be between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius with a humidity level of 40-50%. Rain is highly improbable, but dew is likely to play a significant part in the second innings, and the ball will skid in the second innings; thus, fielding first is more advantageous. That said, it will be notably challenging for bowlers in the second innings, as they will lose grip on the wicket. The pitch at Sawai Mansingh Stadium has a reasonable refreshment of moisture that supports batters as they can score runs freely but is also even for bowlers. Generally, 62% of wickets have been taken by pieces, but spinners have been effective in the middle overs of the innings due to the dry conditions. The expected scores on this pitch range between 170 and 210, and well over 64% of chasing teams have won at least this season.

PBKS vs DC: Match Preview

Bouncing back from a tough start, the PBKS come into this match on a loud three-series streak under their animated captain Shreyas Iyer. Once again, the explosive opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh will be at the forefront of their attack, with Prabhsimran leading the way with 458 runs at an impressive strike rate of 171.53. This is complemented by dangerous bowler Arshdeep Singh, who, while being consistent in his wicket-taking ability (16 wickets in 12 matches), will be looking to reclaim his form after an ugly return against the Rajasthan Royals. Arshdeep has been supported well with the spin bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal and Harpreet Brar, who have contributed to the PBKS being effective in the middle overs in spin playing conditions.

Meanwhile, the DC's strong beginning has resulted in them winning just two of their last seven games to leave them sitting with just six wins from eleven matches. The shakiness of the top order reflects a heavy reliance on KL Rahul and, to a lesser extent, Abishek Porel. Now that Mitchell Starc has unfortunately been ruled out for DC, their already unconvincing bowling attack is at a further disadvantage now that they have to play away from home. With the PBKS in good form but facing a bit of fatigue and the dew factor expected to play a hand with developing night conditions, this series's potential needs to end for the DC quickly as PBKS looks like a strong favorite.

RR vs PBKS: Weather and Pitch Report

Jaipur weather on 18th May, 2025, will be hot with a 30-35°C temperature and humidity of 40-50%. There is a 0% possibility of rain, but the match will surely proceed without any interruption. Sawai Mansingh pitch is a batsman-friendly pitch with good bounce and pace, which tends to lead to high-scoring games. Spinners may get some support later in the match, but pacers like Jofra Archer and Arshdeep Singh may establish early breakthroughs. The toss may still play a role, with teams likely to choose to bat first to put up a tough score.

RR vs PBKS: Match Preview

For RR, this game is more about pride and finishing on a high with nothing to play for, though. Their season has been a letdown, with just three victories in 12 games and a net run rate of -0.718. Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal will try to salvage some pride, while the bowling attack that features Jofra Archer and Theekshana will try to make a statement. The absence of stakes could impact their level of intensity, though.

PBKS, however, are well placed, with only one more victory needed to virtually seal their spot in the playoffs. Having won seven out of 11 games and sitting on a net run rate of +0.375, they are currently in great shape. Shreyas Iyer's team, with its batting consisting of Prabhsimran Singh and N. Wadhere, has been unstoppable. Their bowlers, with Arshdeep Singh and Yuzi Chahal, have been no less impressive. Having already won against RR in the season before, PBKS will seek to do the same again and nail down their playoff spot, while RR hopes to exit with some grace in this lopsided encounter at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Hardik Pandya struck out a rapid 48 off 23 balls towards the end of the innings that propelled MI's innings to their total of 217. Although RR's bowlers managed to control the run rate towards the end of MI's innings, with Riyan Parag (1/12 in 2 overs) and Maheesh Theekshana (1/47 in 4 overs) breaking an important MI partnership, Kumar Kartikeya bowled economically, finishing with 0/22 in his 2 overs.

Rajasthan Royals Innings

Chasing 218 runs, away team RR were always going to find it tough and ran into serious trouble after scoring just 117 in 16.1 overs. Jofra Archer tried to show some intent in the innings, scoring 30 off 27 balls, before the rest of RR's batting lineup completely failed. Riyan Parag managed 16 runs off 8 balls while Shubham Dubey scored 15 off 9 balls. This ultimately hurt RR's chance of completing partnerships. MI was relentless, especially led by MI's Karn Sharma, who finished with 3/23 in 4 overs. Trent Boult, with 3/28 in 2.1 overs, was just as effective, while MI's Jasprit Bumrah finished with 2/15 in 4 overs, meaning RR could not find a way back. The disciplined bowling effort handed MI a comprehensive victory, wrapping up the RR innings in just 16.1 overs.
