A candid meeting between Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and former India skipper Rohit Sharma caught the spotlight from an event that was held in Mumbai on Monday. The moment of the iconic meeting was shared by the Mumbai Indians from their official social media accounts, doing rounds on social media platforms.

In the caption of the video, Mumbai Indians wrote, "Baadshah of Bollywood and the Hitman at the United In Triumph event!'' From the video we can see that both of them were engaging in a deep chat, discussing some topics. The actor seemingly asked the cricketer about something, who explained it to him. Shah Rukh was also seen nodding his head as Rohit spoke. 

The video ended with the actor clapping his hands. Though it is not revealed which topics they talked about. They were seen sitting side by side and enjoying the snow. In the event, Nita Ambani honored the Indian Blind Women's Cricket team, the ICC T20I World Cup 2024-winning team, and the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025-winning team.

Apart from Rohit Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan, the event was attended by many other star personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Varun Dhawan, Jahnvi Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Vidya Balan, Murlikant Petkar, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Sania Mirza, and Atlee Kumar. 

It was not the first time that Khan was spotted with Sharma. In 2023, Shah Rukh commented on Rohit during a social media exchange, stating, "Rohit is all grace and brilliant. Have shared some really sweet personal moments with him."

There are enough chances to see some changes in the ownership of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, it is reported that Shah Rukh Khan himself can purchase some more stakes of the franchise. Currently, he has 55 per cent ownership of the company; in the near future, the percentage under him can increase by a significant margin.

Ahead of a new season of the Indian Premier League, there were speculations about some possible changes among the stakeholders of KKR. So, with valid reasons, many thought that the Kolkata-based franchise could get new owners on board. But now, the situation is looking different. Not new owners, but Shah Rukh Khan himself is expected to get the bigger stake.

KKR is currently owned by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies and Juhi Chawla-Joy Mehta's Mehta Group. While Red Chillies has a 55 per cent stake, the Mehta Group is the owner of the remaining amount of the company. It is learnt that the Mehta Group expressed their desire to sell off their stakes to increase their capital.

Shah Rukh Khan likely to purchase more shares in KKR

According to media reports, the current market value of the Knights is much higher than when the two companies jointly owned the Knights. So, Mehta Group has initiated the process to gain some more funds by selling some shares of KKR. It is pretty possible that Khan will cash in a more significant amount of shares.

But it is worth noting that Juhi Chawla-Joy Mehta's Mehta Group will remain as one of the owners of KKR, as they are not going to sell their entire ownership. After Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, who have won 5 IPL trophies each so far, Kolkata Knight is considered the third most successful team in the league, as they have 3 trophies in their trophy cabinet.

Shah Rukh Khan, reacting to the retirement announcement, shared a heartfelt note on X. “Thank you for the wonderful memories, Andre. Our Knight in shining armour! Your contribution to KKR is one for the books… The power coach – passing down the wisdom, the muscle and of course the power to our boys in purple and gold. And yes, any other jersey would look weird on you, my man. Muscle Russell for life!” he wrote.

Despite a tough 2025 campaign, Russell remained one of KKR’s biggest match-winners and is their second-highest run-scorer as well as second-highest wicket-taker in IPL history. His exit leaves a significant void, but KKR enter the 2026 auction with the largest purse of ₹64.30 crore, offering them flexibility to rebuild.

The former star opening batter of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Aakash Chopra, during a recent interview, has reflected on his experience of playing three years for the Kolkata Knight Riders at the start of the tournament. Chopra featured in six innings for the Knight Riders of the IPL, where he smashed 53 runs in six innings at an average of nine and a strike rate of 74.64. 

Chopra spoke about how passionately their owner, Shah Rukh Khan, had been involved in the process with the franchise. He reckoned that SRK was ‘emotionally invested and extremely involved’ in the franchise, as he also wanted to hire the best trainer, physio, and coaches for the side in the IPL.

“Sharukh is a sweetheart. I was there for three years, not much, but he used to run the franchise purely like a family. He was emotionally invested and extremely involved in the franchise, and that was the time when Venky Mysore wasn’t part of the side. When he bought the franchise, SRK said that he wanted the best coach, trainer, and physio of the world working for the KKR side.” Chopra expressed in a recent podcast.

Kolkata earned their maiden title of the IPL in 2012 when they beat the Chennai Super Kings before earning the same success two years later. Their recent trophy of the league came in 2024 when they beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.

“Selection of the support staff was only up to him, but he later realized that it wasn’t that straightforward. We finished in the sixth position in the first season and eighth in the following year. But SRK was absolutely brilliant. That time, his presence was incredible in the team. If there is a brand of watch, SRK would say that the watches would be given even to the wives.” Chopra addressed.

“There is a laptop brand, and he would tell everyone to be given a laptop, and he would tell it standing on the table. That was the early part of the IPL, where everyone was trying to understand how things worked. No one was sure about anything regarding whether there were superstars and different players.” The former Indian opener shed light in the same video.

The Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner and the Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, has extended his support to the recently retired Indian player, Cheteshwar Pujara, during the latter’s serious knee injury in 2010, arranging for his surgery in Cape Town after the right-handed batter tore his cruciate ligament before featuring in a single game for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. 

The injury occurred during a net session when Cheteshwar Pujara injured himself while attempting a catch, resulting in a ruptured ACL that derailed his career. Puja, wife of Pujara, looked back at the incident in her book, The Diary of a Cricketer’s Wife, where she recalled how SRK helped Pujara massively during that tough period.

“Destiny impelled him to dash heedlessly to a ball for a catch that was never there; and the result: a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, an impending surgery, and a temporarily halted cricketing career — all without playing a single game for KKR.” She wrote in her book as the KKR franchise took the full responsibility for Pujara’s treatment.

Cheteshwar Pujara’s wife reveals story of how Shah Rukh Khan saved veteran’s career

Pujara retired from international cricket with 7195 runs in 176 innings at an average of 43.60 with the help of 19 centuries and 35 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 206 runs. Pujara didn’t get a huge success in the IPL with 390 runs in 22 innings at 20.52 with a lone fifty.

“Shah Rukh also told me that Chintu had a great future ahead of him and should have the best available medical treatment. When he realised I was worried about the absence of a support system in South Africa and my faith in Dr Shah’s abilities, he offered to fly him and any family members I wanted with me.” Pujara’s wife addressed.

In that opening season of the IPL for Pujara in 2009/10, he drilled 122 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 106.08. Overall, he has clubbed 1556 runs in 63 T20 innings at a strike rate of 112.18 with nine fifties and one century.

The Kolkata Knight Riders have released a warm video to congratulate their owner and the famous Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan, on his 60th birthday. It has been a great bond between the two sides, with the Knight Riders winning three titles in 2012, 2014, and 2024, as their former captain, Gautam Gambhir, after winning the first two seasons, came back as the mentor.

Kolkata Knight Riders finished the league stage of the points table at the eighth position. They earned only five victories in 14 games at a net run rate of -0.305. Overall, their campaign was incredibly inconsistent, with only three wins coming in the first eight encounters of the season. They will hope to develop their performance in the next edition, with discussions going around of them signing KL Rahul for IPL 2026.

Over the years, Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner and the Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, has contributed immensely to the franchise. Kolkata finished the 2024 season with the third title of the tournament, after finishing at the top of the points table with nine victories in 14 group-stage encounters at a net run rate of +1.428. Rana also commented on SRK’s vital advice of remembering the base from where they started their career.

With the IPL 2025 slated to resume on Saturday, 17 May, after a temporary halt due to the military deadlock between India and Pakistan, seven franchises are still in contention for the playoff spots. This pause-enforced extension has led to a modified schedule for the remaining games, and the same has been circulated to all the teams. Unlike originally, only six grounds have been selected to host the remainder of the season, and the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, is not among them. This also takes away the opportunity to host the final, as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are the defending champions.

The Knights have had a not-so-great IPL campaign in 2025. The change in their coaching staff, as compared to their victorious run last year, made them look depleted of ideas. There are already two teams who have more than 15 points, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) are on 15 with three games to go. Assuming that those three teams go through, KKR will have to hope that Mumbai Indians (MI) lose their two remaining matches and stay on 14 points. Since one of their matches is against Delhi Capitals (DC), who are currently on 13 points, that will take DC to 15. 

In this scenario, the fourth spot will come down to a Net Run Rate (NRR) battle between KKR and DC. On the other hand, if PBKS lose their three remaining matches, then MI will go past 15 points, while DC, PBKS, and KKR could all be on 15 points, fighting for the fourth spot.
