The ICC Women's ODI World Cup begins with the India vs Sri Lanka match. Ahead of the match, when two teams were on the ground for the national anthem, it was Shreya Ghoshal who took the spotlight. 

The elite league of the International Cricket Council (ICC) commenced today at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. BCCI women shared a special video of Shreyas arriving in the dressing room of the Indian cricket team. Before the tournament opener clash, she visited the dressing room to motivate the players. India and Sri Lanka are the joint hosts of the tournament. The post, shared by BCCI Women's, captioned the photos and videos, "Starting our campaign with melodious vibes. When Shreya Ghoshal visited the #TeamIndia dressing room. 

Clips of her rehearsals and performances had already been shared before the grand entry into the stadium. Before the match, she paid a tribute to the late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg by singing 'Mayabini.'

But the main attraction came when she performed the national anthems of the two nations—India and Sri Lanka. When she visited the India dressing room, she was in a brown tracksuit. But when she stepped into the field for the national anthems, she was in a traditional dress—a red and white saree. Ghoshal's video of singing the Indian national song quickly went viral on the internet. 

Sri Lanka Women won the toss and decided to bowl first. The 50-over match was cut short to 48-over, and India went to bat first.

In only a few days, the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 will take place in India, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched the official theme song for the marquee event. Acclaimed playback singer Shreya Ghoshal sings the anthem, and her melodious voice brings a lot of glamour to the song. It has energy, rhythm, and catchy lyrics that aim to highlight the excitement of the global tournament.

ICC expressed that the anthem is an emotional fusion of melody, rhythm and feeling, intending to unite fans globally as they support the women’s game. As the world’s top players are expected to arrive in India and Sri Lanka, the track is lighting up the tournament’s prelude.

One of the features of the anthem is that it includes such unforgettable lines as “Tarikita Tarikita Tarikita Dhom” and “Dhak Dhak, we bring it home.” These heartbeat-inspired lyrics, which have been cited by the ICC on their website, are intended to motivate the fans and the players when the competition is to start.

Shreya Ghoshal’s Charm and Creative Team Effort

In addition to the voice of Shreya Ghoshal, music was composed by Nakul Abhyankar with lyrics from Raqueeb Alam and contributions from Nazeef Mohammed. The music video adds to this anthem with exciting choreography and cricket visuals that will stick in your memory. The Women's World Cup 2025 will begin on September 30 with India vs Sri Lanka in Guwahati, and the final match will take place on November 2. The tournament will be held at five venues—Guwahati, Indore, Visakhapatnam, Navi Mumbai, and Colombo, with eight teams going to compete, namely India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, and Pakistan.
