When the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) lost their opening encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, there was a massive pressure on their captain, Rishabh Pant, to produce a strong and clinical performance.

Lucknow was excellent at the start of their second fixture against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium with the ball and continued the dominance for most part of the bowling performance. They struggled towards the end of their chase, but Pant held his nerve to complete the chase.

Rishabh Pant’s viral ‘it’s magic’ video goes viral

Post the win on social media, Rishabh Pant shared a video of his teammates showing his dancing moves on the ‘It’s Magic’ song. The video. It started with Mohammad Shami stretching his hands for the dance move before it moved to Prince Yadav. Pant himself was part of the video along with Adien Markram and Abdul Samad.

The song ‘It’s Magic’ is from the 2003 film ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ and is a celebrated dance track featuring Hrithik Roshan, sung by the late pop singer Taz (Stereo Nation) and composed by Rajesh Roshan. The song highlights the transformation of Hrithik’s character, which symbolizes joy and the influence of the alien Jadoo.

That was the same theory for the Lucknow side, who somehow got the line and will hope to continue the same dominance for the rest of the competition.

Lucknow holds nerve in successful chase against SRH

Against the Sunrisers, Lucknow struck early with wickets inside the power play. Shami’s superb bowling of 2/9 in four overs, including the wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, was the biggest contributor in the first innings before Prince came with another strong bowling show. Heinrich Klassen and Nitish Reddy’s 116-run stand for the fifth wicket helped the home side to cross the 155-run mark in their allotted 20 overs.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) claimed their first win in the IPL 2026 as they beat the hosts SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets in the final over thriller. While the owner Sanjiv Goenka was emotional after LSG's first win of the season, he hugged the captain and match hero Rishabh Pant after the successful chase.

The LSG dressing room situation suddenly came under question after the tense moment observed between the LSG team management, including the owner Sanjiv Goenka, and captain Rishabh Pant, while losing their season opener against Delhi Capitals. While many fans felt that was unnecessary as the tournament had just started, some even compared that with the previous incident with former LSG captain KL Rahul, which ultimately resulted in his release from the squad before the next auction.

About the latest incident with Rishabh Pant, the franchise later clarified by posting another video recreating the scene. However, some fans still haven't taken the incident lightly, as they have blamed the franchise owner for going too far early in the season.

On Sunday evening, LSG claimed a thrilling five-wicket win against the hosts SRH, as it was their second game of the IPL 2026, while recording their first win of the season. After that victory, the franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka went to the skipper Rishabh Pant, the most expensive player in the history (INR 27 crore), and hugged the hero of the match.

LSG secure tense win

LSG bowlers restricted SRH to 156/9, where the Indian right-arm fast bowler Mohammed Shami was phenomenal with the bowling figures of 4-0-9-2. Apart from a 116-run fifth-wicket partnership, there was nothing in the LSG innings, as only Heinrich Klaasen (62) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (56) managed to reach the 15-run mark in that innings.

In reply, LSG found it tough to chase the target due to losing wickets at regular intervals. However, the captain Rishabh Pant held the other end tight to secure an early victory for the team in the chase, as the visitors chased down the target on the fifth ball of the final over of the match while losing five wickets. Skipper Pant scored 68 not out off 50 balls with nine fours. In the final over, LSG needed nine runs to win, where the left-handed batter hit two back-to-back fours in the first two deliveries of Jaydev Unadkat, after which he had two dot balls, before finishing the game on the fifth ball with another four over the mid-off.

Sanjiv Goenka emotional during LSG's 1st win in IPL 2026

LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was very emotional at the end of the match, where the visitors claimed a close win in the tight contest. Recently, he faced some brutal attacks on social media for his unfriendly behaviour with past and present captains. However, the SRH vs LSG IPL 2026 match in Hyderabad also brought out his emotional side, which he has shown occasionally.

Rishabh Pant led from the front with a composed half-century as Lucknow Super Giants secured their first win of the Indian Premier League 2026 season.

Chasing a target of 157, Pant anchored the innings with an unbeaten 68, guiding his team to a comfortable five-wicket victory in the final over at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. His innings showcased maturity and control under pressure.

Earlier in the match, Mohammed Shami delivered an impressive spell, dismantling the Sunrisers Hyderabad batting lineup. However, crucial half-centuries from Nitish Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen helped Hyderabad post a competitive total.

The match sparked mixed reactions among fans. While many praised Pant’s leadership and Lucknow’s effective bowling strategy, others criticised Ishan Kishan for his captaincy and pointed out shortcomings in Hyderabad’s bowling performance. In this article, we will share the key moments of the match and the fans’ reactions on social media.

Key moments that defined the SRH vs LSG clash

Under pressure and in need of a statement win, Lucknow Super Giants rose to the occasion as skipper Rishabh Pant and veteran pacer Mohammed Shami delivered match-winning performances against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2026 clash. Shami set the tone early with a masterclass in control and variation, conceding just 9 runs in his four overs while bowling 18 dot balls and claiming two crucial wickets. His spell ensured Hyderabad were restricted to 156 for 9.

Sunrisers Hyderabad endured a shaky start, losing key batters including Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head inside the powerplay to slump to 26 for 4. Just when the innings seemed to be slipping away, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy launched a spirited counterattack, stitching together a vital 116-run partnership. Klaasen struck 62 while Reddy added 56, helping their side recover to a competitive total.

In reply, Lucknow’s chase was steady but not without moments of tension. Aiden Markram provided early momentum with a brisk 45, but it was Pant who anchored the innings with authority. The left-hander combined composure with calculated aggression, remaining unbeaten on 68 off 50 balls to keep his team firmly in control.

With 9 runs needed in the final over, Pant brought the contest to a decisive end, striking consecutive boundaries off Jaydev Unadkat to seal victory with one ball to spare. His captain’s knock, backed by Shami’s incisive spell, marked a commanding and much-needed triumph for Lucknow Super Giants.

The IPL 2026 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium turned into a tense contest. Both teams fought hard in a close contest. SRH batting first and getting off to a weak start. However, they recovered well and managed to post a fighting total.

Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 156/9 in their 20 overs. Heinrich Klaasen played a brilliant knock of 62 runs under pressure. Nitish Kumar Reddy backed him up nicely with a hard-fought 56 runs including five sixes. The Lucknow Super Giants had a great bowling performance by Mohammed Shami taking two wickets for nine runs, while Avesh Khan and Prince Yadav took two wickets each.

Lucknow Super Giants started the chase in a good way. Aiden Markram scored a quick 45, and Rishabh Pant added 32 runs. LSG looked comfortable at 108/4 after 14 overs. But the pitch started helping spinners, and things slowly began to change in SRH’s favour.

Nicholas Pooran’s run-out changes the game

The big turning point came in the 14th over bowled by Shivang Kumar. Nicholas Pooran was at the crease but struggled to read a googly. He tried to play it but missed the ball completely, and it went into the wicketkeeper’s gloves.

In a surprising moment, Pooran suddenly ran for a single even though the ball was safely with the keeper. Ishan Kishan reacted quickly and removed the bails. Pooran was out for just 1 run, which was a big mistake at that moment.

Mix-up in the middle costs crucial wicket during SRH clash

After Pooran’s run-out, Lucknow Super Giants suddenly lost momentum in the chase. The team, which looked comfortable earlier, came under pressure as the required run rate started to rise. SRH bowlers used this moment well and tightened their control on the game.

This wicket brought LSG down to 114/4 after 15 overs, which definitely increased the level of difficulty for the chase during the final stage. The batters were forced to take risks, and SRH bowlers did not allow easy boundaries. This mix-up proved to be a turning point in the match.

While SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a poor start in their first IPL 2026 home game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen's strong batting performances helped the hosts to manage a decent first innings total. After completing his well-deserved fifty, SRH star Nitish Kumar Reddy brought his famous 'Pushpa' celebration.

It is the third game for SRH this season, where they were sent to bat first after the LSG skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss. It was a huge battle for the toss to set a challenging first innings total.

In their first home game of the season, SRH were once struggling at 26/4. The middle-order batters Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy played crucial 50+ knocks, which helped them to manage the first innings total of 156/9 in 20 overs.

While the former South African cricketer Klaasen took 33 balls to complete his fifty, Nitish reached that mark in 30 balls, where he slammed three fours and four sixes. After completing his fifty, Nitish had the iconic 'Pushpa' celebration, which he previously did in Test cricket. Just like 'Pushpa', whose famous dialogue was "Jhukega nehi", the Indian player also didn't give up in the crisis moment, as he played a huge role in helping the hosts to set a fighting total in the first innings.

Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy combine to rescue SRH innings

Klaasen and Nitish had a 116-run partnership for the fifth wicket. However, once their partnership was broken in the 18th over, SRH only managed to add 14 more runs. While Nitish scored 56 off 33 balls with three fours and five sixes, Klaasen scored 62 off 41 balls with five fours and two sixes. Only the English cricketer Liam Livingstone was the other SRH batter to manage a double-digit score in that innings, as the no.4 batter scored 14 runs before losing his wicket.

Even in their previous contest against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were excellent with the early wickets inside the powerplay, thanks to Mohammed Shami, who continued the same dominance with the new ball even in their second encounter against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the visiting captain, Rishabh Pant, won the toss and opted to bowl first on a surface which he claimed would be slow towards the second innings, but kept faith in their strong batting line-up.

Rishabh Pant’s excellent one-handed catch dismisses Liam Livingstone

After seven overs, the Sunrisers have made their way to 26 runs for the loss of three wickets, which is the lowest powerplay score against Lucknow by any team. That was also the fourth-lowest score by the Sunrisers inside the powerplay in IPL history.

That was the moment when the LSG captain decided to bring Digvesh Rathi back into the attack. The very first ball of the over was a tossed-up, slower delivery and well outside the off stump. Liam Livingtone set himself up for the paddle. But the slowness of the surface cost him as he was through with the shot.

Watch the video here:

The ball just never arrived, and when it did, all he could do was pop it off the edge, and it then brushed his right shoulder. Pant was initially hopping to his left side in an appeal but changed his direction, dived, and completed the fine one-handed catch.

SRH suffer early with consistent wickets

The home side lost their opener, Abhishek Sharma, for a two-ball duck while Travis Head was early into the shot against Mohammad Shami. Head, on seven runs in eight balls, got the shot early and spooned it into the hands of the fielder, Aiden Markram.

Prince Yadav came later into the attack and went through the drive of Ishan Kishan to send the latter back into the hut for one run in four balls. The entire responsibility to take the side to a strong score remained on Heinrich Klassen and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who already crossed the 40-run stand for the fifth wicket.

The match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium turned into a tense contest. Both teams were fighting for important points in IPL 2026. LSG won the toss and chose to bowl first, which worked well on a helpful pitch. The surface had movement early, making it tough for batters.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a very poor start with the bat. Abhishek Sharma got out for a duck in the first over to Mohammed Shami. Travis Head also failed to stay long and was dismissed for just 7 runs. Livingstone tried to play an attacking game but failed miserably and could score only 14 runs before losing his wicket.

The SRH players lost several wickets within the powerplay overs and hence had to face pressure initially. This responsibility was left on Klaasen and Kumar Reddy to come up with another effort in the game. LSG bowlers continued their dominance over SRH batsmen during the entire game.

Ishan Kishan’s stunning dismissal by Prince Yadav

Prince Yadav’s brilliant wicket of Ishan Kishan was the biggest highlight of the innings. He bowled a perfect good-length delivery outside off stump with sharp inward movement. Kishan tried to play a cover drive but completely missed the ball. The gap between bat and pad was big enough for the ball to crash into the stumps.

The off stump went flying, leaving Kishan shocked at the crease. It was a top-quality delivery that showed great skill and control. Prince Yadav celebrated with full energy after picking up such an important wicket. This moment quickly became one of the best deliveries of the match.

On the other hand, Ishan Kishan had played a good innings until now, having scored 80 runs off 38 balls in the first game and 14 runs off 9 balls in the second, but this time he was out for just 1 run.

Fans reaction on Ishan Kishan’s early dismissal

Here is how fans react, as many praised Prince Yadav for delivering a stunning ball and called it a perfect example of fast bowling, while others were surprised to see Ishan Kishan fail after his strong start to the season.

At the time of writing: Sunrisers Hyderabad were struggling at 28/4 in 7.4 overs, with Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy at the crease trying to steady the innings.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) came into their second encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on the back of their opening defeat against the Delhi Capitals at home, and hope to open their account away from home.

The LSG captain, Rishabh Pant, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface which he reckoned would go slow in the second innings, but had full faith in their strong batting department. It was important for them to pick early wickets and send back the two aggressive SRH openers early in the innings.

Mohammad Shami foxes Abhishek Sharma with excellent field placement

The first ball was a gentle, loose delivery that Travis Head failed to tickle down the leg side as the southpaw nearly survived a run-out. On the second ball, he was turned to the on-side with a good length delivery at the stumps. It was a fuller yet short length on the pads as Head got an inside edge.

On the fourth delivery of the opening over, Head played away from his body and got an inside edge onto the pad as it rolled to the off-side. Abhishek Sharma, on his very first ball, leaned across and jammed the right-arm pacer into the on-side.

Watch the video here:

That was when a great fielding set-up was made. They wanted the good over to end on a high note, for which Pant took the slip out and brought the third man a little finer towards the wicket-keeper. Abhishek went hard on the drive against the slower ball and got a thick edge as the ball looped to the right of short third.

Manimaran Siddarth dived across and got both hands under and held on with ease. Shami, now, has two dismissals against Abhishek, who has a poor strike rate of under 80 with 20 runs in 26 balls in six innings.

LSG stuns SRH with early wickets

On his first delivery of the second over, Mohammed Shami bagged another massive wicket of Head for seven runs. The cutter came angled across the southpaw and undid Head completely with the lack of pace as the Australian batter was through with the shot early and spooned it in the air towards the mid-off region as Aiden Markram drove forward to complete the simple catch.
