On the 27th encounter of the 2025 season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Barbados Royals locked horns with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The home captain, Rovman Powell, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface that was anticipated to get slow in the second innings.

Barbados retained their same playing eleven after earning their opening victory in the last game. On the other hand, the Patriots made just one change. Their opening left-handed batter, Rilee Rossouw, got out of the eleven, and Evin Lewis, who recovered from his injury, came back into the side.

Jason Holder’s 53* leads St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to 150/7

It was a stable opening stand of the Patriots inside the first six overs of the innings as they got 46 runs with both openers struggling with a strike rate of around 110. Mohammed Rizwan, the wicket-keeper opening batter, bashed 39 runs in 36 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six. Their middle order couldn’t do well apart from Jason Holder.

The former Barbados Royals batter clubbed an unbeaten knock of 53 runs in 30 balls at a strike rate of 176.67, with the help of five sixes and one boundary. Navian Bidaisee nailed 30 runs in 23 balls at a strike rate of 130.43 with two fours and one six to post 150/7 in their allotted 20 overs of the first innings.

Barbados Royals fail to hold nerve in one-run defeat

Just like the Patriots, the Royals also got a decent start inside the power play with the 42-run opening partnership. Brandon King nailed 29 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of 131.82, with the help of three sixes and one boundary. Rassie van der Dussen also nailed a fine knock of unbeaten 37 runs in 27 balls with two fours and one six.

However, the Patriots held their nerve beautifully on defense. Dussen nailed a six on the first ball of the last over, but the Royals needed two runs off the last ball. And Holder picked up the wicket of Daniel Sams to claim the one-run victory to breathe for another day.

Pakistan’s ODI captain, Mohammed Rizwan, was under tremendous pressure in the shortest format for the last couple of years, and it resulted in him getting omitted from the T20I side for the national side during the 2025 season of the Asia Cup in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. He signed a deal with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots during the 2025 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

It wasn’t a great innings either for the right-handed batter at the start of the tournament. The pressure was getting higher on Mohammad Rizwan before he delivered against the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Providence Stadium. On the second ball of the innings, he shimmied down the ground for a huge six over deep mid-wicket before ramping Romario Shepherd for a boundary.

On the first ball of the final over in the powerplay, the veteran shuffled inward and got a bit of a stride towards the ball to seep Moeen Ali behind the square. He later played a big slog sweep over deep mid-wicket. Rizwan fletched it from a wide line and sent it to the stands for a six.

On the penultimate ball of the eleventh over, Rizwan got a top edge on the bounce to smash Hassan Khan in the short fine region for a boundary. Two balls later, he beat the backward point fielder to play the cut short against Gudakesh Motie for a boundary across the ropes. He was the only batter to stay longer and till the last over of the first innings at the crease.

On the third ball of the 20th over, he picked the bones of a slower delivery from Shepherd to shovel it high over the deep mid-wicket region for a huge six. He got run out on the very next ball for 85 runs in 62 balls at a strike rate of 137, thanks to eight fours and three sixes.

St Kitts ended with 149/6 in their allotted 20 overs during the first innings. Guyana’s batters couldn’t contribute much in the second innings and were restricted to 144/8 in their allotted 20 overs in the chase as St Kitts earned a five-run victory to keep their hopes alive for the playoffs spot.

During the 25th fixture of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, Guyana Amazon Warriors faced off against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The home captain, Imran Tahir, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a slow surface, anticipating the batting to get easier in the chase.

The Warriors decided to retain the same playing eleven, while the Patriots made three changes to the side. Rilee Rossouw, Leniko Boucher, and Dominic Drakes came into the playing eleven in place of Alick Athanaze, Jyd Goolie, and Evin Lewis.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots struggle their way to 149/6

Apart from Mohammed Rizwan, who got the chance to open the batting in this clash for the Patriots, none of the away batters were able to contribute to the batting department individually. Pakistan’s ODI captain, who was dropped from the Asia Cup 2025 squad, smashed 85 runs in 62 balls at a strike rate of 137.10, thanks to eight boundaries and three sixes.

Guyana Amazon Warriors fail in nervy chase by five runs

It was the same situation in the batting order for the home side in the chase. The number three and wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, struggled for his 31 runs in 27 balls at a strike rate of 114.81, thanks to three boundaries. The middle order crashed and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

The Kings, having won the previous contest, didn’t make any changes to the playing eleven of the side. The Nevis Patriots made two changes to the side. Alick Athanaze and Jyd Goolie came into the side with Rilee Rossouw and Ashmead Nedd getting out of the eleven for the encounter.

Mohammed Rizwan’s 60 shoulders St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to 177/3

Andre Fletcher, the opening batter of the side, smashed a fine knock of 37 runs in 23 balls at a strike rate of 160.87, with the help of six boundaries and one six, while Kyle Mayers and Mohammed Rizwan put up a 71-run stand for the third wicket in the first innings of the game.

At number three, the ODI captain of the Pakistan side, Rizwan, remained unbeaten on 60 runs in 41 balls at a strike rate of 146.34, thanks to three boundaries and four sixes. This came on the back of the right-handed batter getting trolled by the Barbados Royals for his slow knock. The captain of the side, Jason Holder, remained undefeated on 21 runs in 14 balls with two sixes to post 177/3 in their allotted 20 overs of the first innings.

Saint Lucia Kings complete comfortable chase by seven wickets

Evin Lewis smashed 32 runs, but that came for 31 balls at a strike rate of 103.24, with the help of one boundary and three sixes. On the eighth fixture of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots met the Barbados Royals at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. The touring captain, Rovman Powell, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface which he anticipated would get better in the second innings.

The home side made as many as four changes in the eleven, with Evin Lewis, Abbas Afridi, and Ashmead Nedd coming into the eleven while Mohammed Rizwan made his debut in the league. On the other hand, the Royals left out Shaqkere Parris and Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman to include Kofi James and Nyeem Young in the side.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots fire their way to 174/8

Andre Fletcher, the wicket-keeper batter, smashed 25 runs in 16 balls with the help of 156.25, but the Patriots still kept losing wickets regularly and hardly got the required momentum in the first innings. Kyle Myer clubbed 42 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 150 with one four and three sixes.

Barbados Royals limp to face a 12-run defeat

It was the same issue for the Barbados side in the chase during the second innings. Kadeem Alleyne smacked 42 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 150, shouldering on two boundaries and three sides. However, whenever they needed to put the foot on the accelerator, they lost a wicket and struggled.

Their former captain, Holder, used the pace variations beautifully with the right line and length to pick four wickets in 3.2 overs. The Royals got bundled out for 162 runs in 18.2 overs and faced a 12-run defeat.

After a day’s break and a wash-out contest of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots locked horns with Saint Lucia Kings at Warner Park, Basseterre, in St Kitts. The home side captain, Jason Holder, won the toss and decided to bowl first, following the general trend of the event.

Patriots made one change by bringing in Navian Bidaisee in place of Alick Athanaza, while the David Wiese-led side was boosted with the return of Tim David, who was in incredible form after the end of the home T20I series against South Africa.

Saint Lucia Kings fire their way to 200/8

It wasn’t a great start for the tourists when they lost two wickets in three overs, with Ackeem Auguste getting a first-ball duck. But Johnson Charles roared with a fine half-century and ended with 52 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 185.71, thanks to four boundaries and as many over boundaries.

Kyle Myers, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Waqar Salamkheli picked up two wickets each in the bowling department.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots fall short in nail-biter by 3 runs

It was nearly the same struggling beginning for the home side in the chase as they lost four wickets on the opening ball of the ninth over. However, Jason Holder and Navian Bidaisee put up a fine partnership of 77 runs for the fifth wicket. The former clubbed 63 runs in just 29 balls with three fours and six over boundaries at a strike rate of 217.

Navaian Bidasisee was the only hope for the home side in the chase, but he failed on the last ball of the second innings with 50 runs in 36 balls at a strike rate of 138.89. When they needed four runs on the last delivery, he got out as the Kings earned a victory by three runs.

The Patriots fielded the same eleven for the fixture. It was the opening game of the season for the Knight Riders, who are under the leadership of Nicholas Pooran for the season. Mohammed Amir and Akeal Hosein returned from The Hundred 2025, having benefited from the services of Sunil Narine and Colin Munro at the top.

Colin Munro’s 120 charge Trinbago Knight Riders to 231/5

It was an incredible opening partnership of 114 runs in nine overs for the Trinbago side. Alex Hales smashed 47 runs in 27 balls at a strike rate of 174.07, with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. However, Colin Munro continued to go with the same rhythm and ended with 120 runs in 57 balls with the help of 14 boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 210.

The second game of the 13th season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2025 took place between the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and the Guyana Amazon Warriors at Warner Park in Basseterre, St. Kitts. The former won the curtain raiser of the event against the Antigua side and looked to repeat the same performance.

Guyana’s captain, Imran Tahir, won the toss and opted to bowl first on a surface that gets better to bat on in the second innings. Patriots went with the unchanged XI while Guyana was boosted in the presence of West Indies’ T20I captain, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, and Moeen Ali.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots struggle to reach 153/8

It wasn’t a great evening for the Patriots with the bat. Veteran wicket-keeper batter, Andre Fletcher, smashed 60 runs in 41 balls at a strike rate of 146.34 with the help of five sixes and one four. The middle order couldn’t contribute at all to their batting.

Guayana make comfortable chase by five wickets

Early swing bowlers may get some help from light winds, but overall there is likely to be a fair contest between bat and ball.

Pitch Report:

Warner Park has typically been a good batting wicket, with good bounce and a quick outfield for playing shots. Seamers could see some movement in the first few overs, especially if it's in the evening and under lights. Spinners will probably come into the game in the middle overs as the pitch starts to slow up a little. Historically, Warner Park has been a high-scoring ground, so teams might have a strong preference for chasing here based on their experience.
