Senior Indian batter Virat Kohli is enjoying a great run of form. After scoring two consecutive ducks against Australia last month, doubts were raised about his future in international cricket. But he silenced his critics in style during the third ODI in Sydney, where his unbeaten 74 helped India win by nine wickets. The big question was whether he could keep this momentum for the South Africa series.

Kohli not only kept his rhythm but also raised his game, scoring consecutive centuries in Ranchi and Raipur in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa. He looked unstoppable in both innings and improved his strike rate as well. His famous style was on full display. With these performances, the 37-year-old has confirmed his place in the team and sent a strong message to the selectors that he is ready for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Meanwhile, Sunil Chhetri, an icon of Indian football, made a big statement about Indian star batter Virat Kohli. In a recent interview, Chhetri said, “Virat Kohli is not happy with what he has already achieved. He is relentless every day.”

Chhetri Praises Kohli’s Fitness and Dedication

Chhetri and Kohli are close friends, and everyone knows it. Even during the COVID-19 lockdown, they inspired fans with stories about fitness, diet, and sports. Chhetri often talks about the qualities that make Virat one of the best athletes in the world.

In a podcast a few months ago, Chhetri compared Kohli with Ronaldo. Both are top athletes in their sports. Even if they are not in their best form, their fitness is still better than many young players in their twenties.

India lost to South Africa in the 2nd ODI

South Africa defeated India in the second ODI of the three-match series. Thanks to Kohli and Gaikwad’s well-built centuries, India scored 358 runs in their innings. KL Rahul also contributed a valuable 66 runs, giving India a respectable total, but it was not enough to defend.

Proteas opener Aiden Markram played a brilliant innings of 110 runs, giving momentum to the chase. Matthew Breetzke and Dewald Brevis also played well in the middle, scoring half-centuries. In the end, Corbin Bosch played a fine innings, helping South Africa win the match by four wickets.

Meanwhile, after his 102-run knock in Raipur, Virat Kohli has scored 14,492 runs in ODI cricket. He is now only 3,934 runs behind the legend Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 18,426 runs in his ODI career.

The legendary Indian footballer, Sunil Chhetri, has informed that the former captain and senior batter of the national side, Virat Kohli, sent him his fitness scores a few days back from London. It was reported earlier that the Delhi-born cleared his fitness test in London ahead of the away ODI series against Australia.

Chhetri was delighted to know Virat Kohli’s fitness scores and compared him with the renowned footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo. The current Indian team management has changed the fitness test to the Bronco test to increase the fitness level of the players.

“A few days back, he (Kohli) was sending me his scores of one of the tests he was doing. It is so addictive, and it is so good to know these kinds of people. On your bad days when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, 'let’s go. When you are at the top, everyone wants to be a Virat Kohli or Ronaldo, and for these two to keep their place is unbelievable.” Chhetri expressed during a recent interaction on The Desi PL Podcast.

Sunil Chhetri compares Virat Kohli’s fitness scores with Cristiano Ronaldo

Chhetri and Ronaldo’s names are often taken together when the names of top international goal-scorers are revealed. Kohli is preparing for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia down under, as Chhetri expressed the common factor between Portuguese and Kohli. The latter has already retired from the T20Is and Tests in a span of 12 months.

“I don’t know personally (Cristiano) Ronaldo. I have watched him, studied him. I know Virat (Kohli). The one common thing about these two is that they are just not happy with what they have already achieved," said the Indian footballer with 95 international goals.” Chhetri informed during the reaction.

“I tried in my own way to inculcate the same thing because once when you start getting into that circle where you start thinking about what you have done, good or bad, then you are not on the same track that you want to be.” The legendary Indian footballer, who recently came out of retirement at the request of coach Manolo Marquez, concluded.
