PBKS vs RCB: Post Match Reactions

Suyash Sharma (Player of the Match): Suyash Sharma, the Player of the Match, credited his performance to a straightforward directive from the coaches to consistently attack the stumps. His googlies, leg spins, and flippers were devastating, and had he not received help from the pitch, clearly indicated by his 3/17 in 3 overs, Patidar wouldn’t have let him back on. Sharma felt the batters found it tough to identify his variations, particularly his stock googly. He looked forward to celebrating with his team on June 3rd, implying there would be a major event.

Rajat Patidar (Royal Challengers Bengaluru Captain): Rajat Patidar praised Suyash Sharma for consistently hitting the stumps, which Patidar called a key to his performance. He was careful as captain not to complicate the batsman learning Sharma’s googly. He provided a shout-out to Phil Salt’s explosive starts, saying it was good fortune to see them from the dugout. Finally, he thanked the passionate RCB fans and encouraged them for a championship celebration.

Phil Salt (RCB): Phil Salt was excited to qualify for finals on their first attempt. They accepted the challenging nature of the pitch with some movement early but credited quick reactions for avoiding any dismissals against Punjab’s new ball, especially from Arshdeep Singh. Salt described the play-travel-play schedule as a blessing, preventing overthinking during the tournament. The win, he said, provided crucial momentum for RCB heading into the tournament’s decisive phase.

Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings Captain): Shreyas Iyer made a case for a batting reconsideration when their low total became untenable for Punjab Kings. He acknowledged that the bounce was variable but refused the temptation to use it as an excuse, emphasizing that we must all be ‘professional’ and adapt. Iyer accepted his tactical decisions, despite the loss, and refused to lay the blame on their bowlers. He is optimistic and believes they have lost a battle but not the war and wants to return more strongly.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru put on a fantastic bowling show to bowl out Punjab Kings for just 101 runs in 14.1 overs in the first innings of Qualifier 1 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.

Punjab Kings had a tough time right from the start, losing four wickets in the first six overs during the powerplay. Their top batsmen couldn’t handle the pressure from RCB’s tight bowling. Only Prabhsimran Singh managed to score a decent 18 runs off 10 balls, while the rest of the top order failed to reach double digits.

The troubles didn’t stop there. Yash Dayal bowled Nehal Wadhera out for 8 runs early in the seventh over, leaving Punjab Kings at 50 for five. Soon after, leg-spinner Suyash Sharma came into the attack and made an instant impact.

The Punjab Kings were in trouble as wickets kept falling quickly. Shashank Singh and Musheer Khan couldn’t stay long and were both dismissed by Suyash. By halfway through the innings, Punjab was struggling at 71 for 7. Marcus Stoinis tried to steady the innings with 26 runs off 17 balls but was out in the 11th over.

Dayal finished his four overs with 2 wickets for 26 runs. Romario Shepherd also made a difference by taking a wicket in his first over, sending Harpreet Brar back cheaply. Azmatullah Omarzai was the last to go, scoring 18 runs off 12 balls. Both Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma picked up three wickets each.

After the innings, Suyash Sharma said, “We followed the plans given by our coaches and stuck to them. I felt good bowling today, and the batsmen couldn’t read my googly well. Even though this was a semi-final, we played it like a normal game. Playing here before helped us stay calm.”

<![CDATA[[WATCH] IPL 2025: Virat Kohli’s strategic input leads to Heinrich Klassen’s wicket on next ball in RCB vs SRH game]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2025-virat-kohli-s-strategic-input-leads-to-heinrich-klassen-s-wicket-on-next-ball-in-rcb-vs-srh-game/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-2025-virat-kohli-s-strategic-input-leads-to-heinrich-klassen-s-wicket-on-next-ball-in-rcb-vs-srh-game/ Fri, 23 May 2025 21:42:19 GMT

Suyash Sharma clinched Heinrich Klaasen's wicket at the right time when the batter had just started to shift gears. Suyash went to deliver his wicket taking delivery after a short conversation with Virat Kohli.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad (RCB vs SRH) are currently facing each other at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. After winning the toss, Jitesh Sharma, stand-in skipper for RCB in place of injured regular captain Rajat Patidar, chose to field first to utilize the moisture of the surface as much as possible.

Suyash Sharma had a tough day at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Uttar Pradesh, except for the wicket of the right-handed batsman. After receiving some advice from Virat, the spinner went for a fuller length delivery, slightly on the side.

Suyash Sharma, the 22-year-old, proved his importance for RCB in the middle order when the team needed to stop flowing runs or needed to take a wicket during a crucial point of contests. Sharma played 11 IPL 2025 games so far with RCB and took 5 scalps. But the most attractive part of his bowling performance is the economy rate, which is only 8.73.

In this way Sharma took the SA batter's wicket

Klaasen lured to see the fuller and chose to take the aerial root. He hoisted the ball towards the long-on area, but there was a Romario Shepherd at the right place to take an easy catch. Thus, the South International departed after scoring only 24 off 13, and Suyash got his only wicket from the match.

The dismissal of Klaasen did not harm SRH too much because Ishan Kishan was on song at the crease. The Indian star batter scored unbeaten 94, missed his ton only by 6 runs, and took his team to 231 in the first innings. In his innings, Ishan blasted seven boundaries and five over-boundaries with a strike rate of 195.83.

<![CDATA['Used to take injections and play'— RCB star reveals his tough days fighting against medical issues]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/used-to-take-injections-and-play-rcb-star-reveals-his-tough-days-fighting-against-medical-issues/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/used-to-take-injections-and-play-rcb-star-reveals-his-tough-days-fighting-against-medical-issues/ Thu, 01 May 2025 12:30:46 GMT

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), in their latest 'Bold Diaries' episode, showcased the story of Suyash Sharma. The spinner from Delhi was troubled for Harniya and played matches with pain. It was the RCB who arranged all the medical support Suyash needed; now the young Indian spinner is fit and fine and ready to run pain-free.

Kolkata Knight Riders first introduced Suyash Sharma in the Indian Premier League (IPL) back in 2023. The leg spinner bowled brilliantly and soon became an integral part of the team for the season. Suyash played a total of eleven matches in IPL 2023 and took 10 wickets at an 8.23 economy rate. In the following season, the right-hand bowler was almost sidelined after playing a couple of matches where he went without any wickets.

KKR did not retain him for IPL 2025, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru took the chance. Joining RCB was a turning point for Suyash Sharma. In the recently published 'Bold Diaries' episode, he shared how RCB took all the responsibility to make him absolutely fit. Sharma especially credited team physio James Pipe, who took care of Sharma in London, and said how he used to play matches under pain. He used to take medical help to reduce pain and then stepped into field to play IPL matches.

"I had Harniya for last 2 years. Until two years ago, I used to take injections & play IPL... RCB sent me to London for my surgery. I met James Pipe there. He and his family treated me like family. I had three hernias; I did not hope that I would play the first match," said Sharma in this interview.

Suyash made an impressive comeback

After a downfall in IPL 2024, Suyash Sharma has made a strong comeback in IPL 2025. Behind RCB's successful run in the group stage, Sharma has made an impressive impact in the 9 games he has played so far. The spinner took only 4 wickets in 9 games but proved very effective in the middle overs for his economical bowling, which is 7.97. After a big surgery, Suyash did not expect that he could play in the early stage of IPL 2025.

"I was told that I would play three of the latest four matches. I had a big surgery. But Pipe and his family took care of me. I am very thankful that I've joined this franchise, and I'm for now," Suyash concluded.

<![CDATA[IPL Controversy: Why RCB escaped penalty after Suyash Sharma’s unusual move vs RR]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-controversy-why-rcb-escaped-penalty-after-suyash-sharma-s-unusual-move-vs-rr/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ipl-controversy-why-rcb-escaped-penalty-after-suyash-sharma-s-unusual-move-vs-rr/ Fri, 25 Apr 2025 16:41:54 GMT

During the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), Suyash Sharma's unusual fielding methods caught the attention of many RCB fans. In trying to field the ball, Sharma picked it up with his cap, which in usual circumstances would incur a penalty of five runs for the batting side. My contention is RCB was able to escape this penalty because the umpires had already called the ball dead, which made the action non-offending.

The case in question suggests that the ball was dead on the ninth over. Sharma was fielding as short third man, and by the looks of it, he was attempting to cap the ball.
Capping the ball or picking it up with a cap is a violation of law 28.2.1.2 and will not only result in monetary punishment, but the ball will be considered dead, and a five-run gift will be given to the batting team. The difference here is the umpires had already signaled for a dead ball; therefore, there was no punishment.

The on-field umpires talked with the third umpire to verify the events of the game. After the review, there were no penalties, so the game could go on without interruptions.

RCB Clinches First Home Victory in IPL 2025

Not taking the drama into consideration, RCB triumphed at home for the first time this season as they managed to defeat RR by 11 runs at their home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli continued his good form by scoring 70 runs off 42 balls, while Padikkal scored a rapid 50 runs off just 27, which helped RCB set a defendable total of 205/5.

Sportsbetting.ag wrapped up the RR innings at 194 and stood at 9 in their 20 overs.
The penultimate over was bowled by Josh Hazlewood, who put the brakes on the RR innings when they looked to sail to victory, giving away only one run and taking a stunning two wickets, thus winning the match for RCB.

Having won this match, RCB stood at third position in the IPL 2025 standings after this match, which showcased a stark improvement in their performance at home and hopeful RCB fans for the playoffs.
