Pant is now only 88 points shy of the top-ranked Joe Root, who retained his No. 1 position after scoring 28 and 53* in England’s record chase of 371. Root’s teammate Harry Brook remains second, followed by Kane Williamson in third.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Close to Breaking a 49-Year-Old Test Record

Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is just one step away from making cricket history. After hitting a classy century in the first Test at Headingley, he is now only 97 runs short of becoming the fastest Indian batter to reach 2,000 runs in Test cricket.
So far, the 22-year-old has scored 1,903 runs in 20 Test matches with a solid average of 52.86. If he scores those 97 runs in the second Test against England, starting on July 2, he will break a record that has stood since 1976.

The current record belongs to Sunil Gavaskar, who reached 2,000 runs in his 23rd Test, against the West Indies in Port of Spain. If Jaiswal does it in his 21st match, he’ll become the fastest Indian to reach the milestone based on matches played.
Jaiswal has played 38 innings so far. If he gets to 2,000 runs in the next couple of innings, he could also break another big record becoming the fastest Indian to 2,000 runs by innings played. Right now, that record is shared by Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag, who both reached the mark in 40 innings.

On the world stage, no one comes close to the legendary Don Bradman, who crossed 2,000 Test runs in just 22 innings, way back in 1931. With his form and confidence sky-high, Jaiswal has a golden chance to create history. Cricket fans will be watching closely when India face England in the second Test at Headingley.

The vice-captain Rishabh Pant and captain Shubman Gill have made big strides up the ICC Test batting rankings this week, after their performance in the first Test against England at Leeds. The 24-year-old Pant had a historic performance and became the first wicketkeeper in Test history from India to score centuries in both innings of a Test. He is also only the second wicketkeeper to do it, besides Andy Flower from Zimbabwe, with scores of 134 and 118. However, the twin tons were not helpful for India as India lost the first Test against England by 5 wickets.

Shubman Gill, who was captaining India in the Test format for the first time, had a great outing with the bat and led from the front with a well-composed 147 in the first innings. He was also India’s top scorer in the first innings. It was courtesy of a talismanic player's knock that laid the foundation for India’s innings. The right-hand batter also showed sheer maturity under pressure. On the other hand, England's opening batter Ben Duckett also had an incredible game, scoring 62 and 149 in the first and second innings, respectively. The left-hand batter reached a personal best in Test batting rankings, after climbing five places in the latest updated ranking.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal maintained his fourth position in the batting rankings, and KL Rahul gained ten spots to reach 38th after his solid outing in the match.

Cricket in modern times have been privileged to have so many great batsmen take the game to next level. Babar Azam and Virat Kohli are the top Two Players among so many great batsmen. The two have enthralled cricket fans across the world, with perfect batting, such consistency and the skill to deliver under a lot of pressure. Of course, comparisons will be made between the two but each has a distinct legacy in the history of international cricket.

Virat Kohli has arguably been one of the greatest batsmen that ever played cricket. His steadiness across all three formats has become legendary. Kohli has a never say die mentality when it comes to runs and on-field intensity which has no equal. He has the ability to run in at a wicket and nick it for boundaries whilst not giving a single chance to the opposing bowling.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam has broken through the ranks very quickly to become Pakistan's mainstay at number one in the order. His overt bounce, skill at the crease are reminiscent of the best you will find in the world. What makes Babar so unique is this elegant combination of grace and finesse, and with his contributions unmatched across formats for years now Pakistan has been successful.

Stats and Records:

Statistics never show the complete picture but they do shine some light into these two cricketers being uber-dominant. Kohli who made his ODI debut in 2008 he has over 25,000 international runs and several centuries in Tests,ODIs and T20 against the best team. His all format dominance and adaptability has been one of his big strengths.

Though Babar is relatively fresh into international cricket, scores thundering already The all-time listed player in ICC rankings and holds many records for pakistan. Across formats, his batting averages reveal that he seems to be able to adjust to different conditions as well.

Leadership and Impact: Guiding Their Nation to Glory

Both players have been great to their country as well. Kohli was aggressive while playing and later as captain of India for fitness revolution, a lot of historic overseas wins. His leadership turned India into a big force, mostly in Test cricket.

Having to wear the cap for Pakistan, Babar Azam has borne heavy weight. Pakistan has enjoyed relative peace and match winning performances under him, especially in the white-ball arena. The maturity done to Tranquility and leading-by-example started the revival of Pakistan in the world.

Playing Styles and Adaptabilityt

Kohli was brutal, and he looked every bit a force to be reckoned with on world cricket. There is no greater chases bunter than him, he thrives in pressure and boasts of exceptional fourth wicket anchoring. Babar is a complete player with his clever footwork, solid timing and expansive K-run capability.

However Babar is usually associated with class and traditional stroke play. Watching his cover drives and wristy flicks are sheer pleasure. He has improved everywhere, starting from the defensive side of batting and can shift gears more than most hence an all-rounder as far as formats go.

A Legacy Beyond Comparison

Who is better Babar Azam or Virat Kohli, will be debated for as long these two are active. Kohli is already a legends in his own time, whilst Babar slowly but surely making history on his own terms. Both of these batters have inspired the world with their sheer arts and determination, and any cricket follower should be lucky to see them in action.Instead of comparing, who knows…maybe the most  clever approach is to revel in their journey and how each one contributed to the game.
