The cash-rich franchise tournaments offer exciting entertainment and countless memories to the fans. But such leagues are never far off from garnering negative attention. In the ongoing edition of Major League Cricket (MLC), a strange incident has come to light that has left the fans and cricket experts puzzled. Calls of match-fixing are growing louder as viewers were left in disbelief when a fielder failed to make a regulation stop and instead conceded a boundary to the opposition.

During the 14th over of the MINY run chase, Keiron Pollard was facing up to Noor Ahmad of TSK. The spinner floated a delivery beyond Pollard's hitting arc, but the explosive all-rounder still managed to get some bat on it and thumped it down the ground towards long off. Mukkamalla was the fielder who was stationed near the boundary to make a regulation stop. But what followed was a shocking slip-up which saw MINY earn a boundary.

Mukkamalla came around charging at the ball, and even before he could have collected it cleanly, the ball slipped out of his hands and parried over the ropes. What was more shocking to see was that the TSK fielder spilled the ball over the boundary even after successfully retrieving it the second time.

The video has gone viral and has instantly attracted a strong reaction from many users on social media. Many have criticized the fielder and claimed that he made a clear attempt to fix the game. By having multiple looks at the video, the general consensus is that Mukkamalla had willfully allowed the ball to slip through. 

Moreover, the on-air commentators were also baffled to see such a grave lapse and wondered whether such a fielding blunder could ever take place in such a high-profile T20 match.  It even irked the TSK coach Albie Morkel, who visibly seemed unimpressed after seeing that effort. While fans allege a clear case of fixing, we may never be able to get to the bottom of the story. 

But thankfully for TSK, this goof-up did not go down as a costly error as TSK were comfortably able to restrict MINY to 184. Despite Pollard's heroic knock of 70 off 39, the MINY run chase lacked momentum, and as a result, they suffer their sixth defeat of the tournament.

Akeal Hosein's game-turning performance earned Texas Super Kings a heroic win against MI New York. In this encounter, when other bowlers of Super Kings were leaking at least 10 runs per over, Hosein offered a lower than 4.00 economy rate and claimed 3 wickets as well.  A social media post of Akeal recently caught cricket lovers eyes. In that post, he labelled star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as his idol. With a photo of Jadeja, the talented spinner wrote, "One day... I'd like to become a player like him." 

Jadeja, now 36, has for years served Team India as one of the most prolific members of the squad. Throughout his career, spanning nearly two decades, he decorated his profile with multiple trophies. Not only as a spinner, Jadeja's batting in the lower order proved useful on multiple occasions. In India's 2013 Champions Trophy win, Jadeja finished as the leading wicket-taker, with 12 wickets, two of those in the final, where he also made an unbeaten 33.

Akeal's 4-over spell change the script of the match

In this season's MLC, Akeal Hosein has so far played two matches for Texas Super Kings and taken 5 wickets with a staggering economy rate of 3.57. A three-wicket spell came last night against New York.

Batting first, TSK scored 223 runs in exchange for 4 wickets. MI had no option but to play some big shots from the beginning of their innings. They were executing their plan well until Akeal joined the party to spoil it. He took wickets and held down the run rate. In the end, TSK won the match by 39 runs.

The TSK skipper and former South African great Faf du Plessis is enjoying a phenomenal run in the ongoing edition of Major League Cricket. On the back of his enthralling exploits with the bat, the Texas Super Kings (TSK) have stormed their way to their third straight playoff by beating MI New York by 39 runs. 

Faf played an instrumental role in propelling TSK to a commanding first-innings score of 223/4. The skipper led from the front and anchored the innings with a blazing 53-ball 103, which featured five fours and nine sixes. Following his scintillating century, Faf has unlocked a new milestone for himself. He has now become the batter with the most number of hundreds in the history of MLC. The South African southpaw now has three centuries under his belt. 

Additionally, two of his three centuries have come in this season alone. He is followed by New Zealand's Finn Allen, who currently holds two centuries. He also holds the record for being the highest all-time run getter in the history of MLC with 737 runs across 15 innings.

With each passing year, Faf continues to get better in his game. Despite being 40 years old, age does not seem to catch up with him. The TSK skipper exhibits an incredible amount of athleticism while running between the wickets, while also at the same time, can use the long handle to good effect as well. Batting first, Texas Super Kings got off to a great start thanks to their captain Faf du Plessis for a great innings, who played a brilliant knock of 100 runs from just 51 balls. It was a special innings filled with powerful sixes and classy strokes. Young Saiteja Mukkamalla also played good with a quick fire runs 38 off 24 balls, helping TSK reach a strong total of 198 for 5 in their 20 overs.

But the Unicorns had other plans. Right from the first over, Finn Allen went on the attack. He smashed the bowlers all around the park and scored 78 runs in just 35 balls. At the other end, Matthew Short joined a nd he scored 61 runs from 29 balls. The duo added over 140 runs together in no time and completely took the game away from TSK.

After both openers were dismissed, Corey Anderson and Jake Fraser-McGurk calmly finished the job. San Francisco chased down the target in just 16.1 overs, ending on 202 for 3 and winning the match by a big margin. It was a one-sided affair in the end. TSK had the runs on the board, but SFU’s batting was simply too powerful. This win will surely boost the Unicorns’ confidence as they continue their strong run in the tournament.
