Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow is hosting the crucial fourth game of the five-match T20I series between the hosts India and the visitors South Africa on Wednesday night (December 17), where the toss has been delayed. Here we know the reason for the delayed toss.

While the Lucknow T20I has been scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM local time, as usual, India's night T20I game begins, and the toss was scheduled at 6:30 PM local time. However, the Lucknow T20I toss has been delayed, which will force the delay of the beginning of the match, as the umpires have scheduled an inspection for the game at 6:50 PM local time.

Reason for delayed toss in IND vs SA 4th T20I

The Lucknow T20I has been affected due to heavy fog. Due to excessive fog, the umpires felt they needed further inspection before giving a green signal for the match, even for a toss. However, many fans are in fear as they believe that the excessive fog will worsen over time. 

There is another update for the Lucknow T20I, as the umpires have decided to go for another inspection at 7:30 PM local time. 

A new update, as the third inspection for the Lucknow T20I has been scheduled at 8:00 PM.

Another new update, the fourth inspection for the Lucknow T20I will happen at 8:30 PM.

The fifth inspection for the Lucknow T20I has been scheduled at 9:00 PM local time.

There is another inspection time added, as the new inspection will happen at 9:25 PM local time.

India leading T20I series by 2-1

Hosts India are currently leading the series by 2-1, as South Africa must win both the remaining matches to win the series, while India need another victory to secure the series. With one no result, India will secure the home T20I series as they can't lose the series anymore.  

All the first three games of the series experienced only dominating wins. While India won the series opener by 101 runs at Cuttack, South Africa leveled the series at New Chandigarh by winning the match by 51 runs. Dharamsala hosted the previous game, where the Men in Blues thrashed the Proteas by seven wickets with 25 balls remaining.
