Unbelievable scenes unfolded at the Titwood Cricket Ground in Glasgow as the world witnessed something that had never been experienced earlier in cricket. The second fixture of the Scotland T20 Tri-Series between the Netherlands and Nepal saw an unreal finish, which got the viewers hooked to the edge of their seats. Never before in the history of the sport has a game witnessed a mind-boggling three super overs to decide a winner. 

This far-fetched idea, which seemed theoretically possible, turned out to be a reality yesterday. The game was reduced to 20 overs per side, and the Netherlands, while batting first, posted 152 for the loss of seven wickets. Nepal, in response, were stuttering big time as they found themselves reeling at 122/6 after 18 overs. With 31 needed off 12, the game was slipping through their fingers, and a possibility of a super over was never on anyone's mind.

But everyone was soon to be proven wrong as Paudel and Karan targeted Vikramjit in the next over to bring the deficit down to 16 off 6, before getting out. Subsequently, in the very next over, the unthinkable happened. Nandav Yadav single-handedly took the game to the first super over on the back of two boundaries, to keep Nepal's aspirations alive. 

It was Nepal's turn to bat first in the first super over. Bhurtel launched a severe counter-offensive against Doram, smashing him for 19 runs. This onslaught put Nepal firmly in the driver's seat, but a combined effort from O'Dowd and Levitt quickly overshadowed Bhurtel's brilliance as the Netherlands fell one run short of victory. Leading into the second super over, it all but seemed over when Nepal were tasked with chasing 18 runs. They started off well with the bat, with the first three balls disappearing out of the park, but a dot in the next two deliveries meant that Nepal needed seven off the final ball. Then Airee played an unbelievable shot over wide long on and deposited the ball deep into the crowd to take the game into the third super over.

At last, the deadlock was broken in the third super over. ZB Lion-Cachet ensured that there were no further twists in the tail and accounted for two wickets in the over while going without a run. The Netherlands needed only a solitary run to emerge victorious, and Levitt delivered the win in massive style by clearing the boundary with ease. 

This is the first time ever an event of this magnitude has ever been recorded in a men's professional match - T20 or List A. The Netherlands and Nepal are slated to play their next games against Scotland, a team that is yet to be beaten in this tri-series.
