India U19 will take on Bangladesh U19 in Match 7 of the U19 World Cup 2026 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Saturday, January 17. The Ayush Mhatre-led Indian side began their campaign on a positive note, securing a comfortable six-wicket victory over USA U19 via the DLS method. Opting to bowl first, India’s disciplined bowling unit dismantled the opposition for 107, with Henil Patel starring through a sensational five-wicket haul. Despite rain interruptions, India chased a revised target of 96 with ease to open their account.

Bangladesh U19, meanwhile, will be stepping onto the field for their first match of the tournament. Their warm-up games were both abandoned due to weather, denying them valuable match practice ahead of the global event. However, the side enters the World Cup with confidence drawn from their recent Asia Cup U19 campaign, where they progressed to the semi-finals before being eliminated by Pakistan U19. The young Bangladeshi unit will be eager to make a strong start and challenge India in this crucial group-stage encounter.

A bad in the field for the young explosive batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Today (January 15), India was up against the USA for the opening match of the U-19 World Cup 2026 tournament. Suryavanshi walked onto the pitch with a lot of expectations but ended up being bowled out. USA pacer Ritvik Reddy Appidi shattered all three stumps of the Indian opener. Suryavanshi marched off the field after facing 4 balls and scoring 2 runs only.

In the ongoing U-19 World Cup 2026, Team India is one of the front runners on paper in the title race as the team have a bunch of immensly talented batters and bowlers. At the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, in Zimbabwe, the U-19 Indian team started the first innings full of confidence, as the pace bowlers were thriving on the field with the new ball.

Keeping an eye on the weather, India U-19 captain Ayush Mhatre decided to field first after winning the toss. Mhatre's decision to bowl first was on point. The Indian pacers did a splendid job with the new ball, restricting the USA Under-19 cricket team to only 107 runs for 10 wickets in 35.2 overs. Henil Patel, who claimed a 5-wicket figure, was the best bowler of the match. Patel, with his well-controlled bowling, cleaned up half of the USA batting order single-handedly in his 7-over spell for an economy rate of 2.29.

The target of 108 for India in 50 overs was within the grip of the Indian batting order, especially when the team had two explosive batters, Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, as the opening pair. In this match, Suryavanshi had the opportunity to break Virat Kohli's record in the age group cricket. But he missed the opportunity.

It was an upset moment for India when the umpires declared the match suspended. The match paused when India was batting on 21 for 1 after first 4 overs of the second innings. Continuous rain did not allow the match to proceed further.

<![CDATA['If they abuse, You also give it back', Abhishek Sharma recalls Rahul Dravid's message during U-19 World Cup]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/if-they-abuse-you-also-give-it-back-abhishek-sharma-recalls-rahul-dravids-message-during-u-19-world-cup/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/if-they-abuse-you-also-give-it-back-abhishek-sharma-recalls-rahul-dravids-message-during-u-19-world-cup/ Tue, 23 Jul 2024 16:54:43 GMT

Abhishek Sharma recently shared what head coach Rahul Dravid told the India team before their U-19 World Cup quarter final against Bangladesh in 2018. Known for his calm demeanor, Dravid surprised everyone by telling the players to go all out in the knockout match.

The 23 year old mentioned that India had previously lost to Bangladesh in the U-19 Asia Cup before the World Cup. Dravid advised the team not to back down if the Bangladeshi players abused them in the quarter final.

Speaking on the YouTube channel Second Innings with Manjot Kalra, Abhishek said:

“We had lost to Bangladesh in the U-19 Asia Cup. When we faced them again in the World Cup, Rahul Dravid told us that if they abuse, you also give it back. Nobody expected him to say something like this. We were all very pumped up for that match.”

India won the 2018 U-19 World Cup quarter final against Bangladesh by 131 runs, successfully defending a 265 run total. Abhishek Sharma scored 50 runs off 49 balls and took two wickets in the match.

The Prithvi Shaw led India U-19 team went on to defeat Pakistan in the semi final and Australia in the final to win the trophy.

Abhishek Sharma’s Stunning Century

Last month, a video of Abhishek Sharma hitting a 25 ball century in a club match in Gurugram went viral. The left handed batter smashed 14 sixes, scoring 103 runs off just 26 balls.

Speaking about the game, he said that he hadn’t brought his kit bag and had to ask someone to bring it after the opposing team set a daunting 250 run target in a 20 over match.

“A lot of people had gathered there once they got to know that we were playing. It was a weekend, so there was a big crowd. They had given us a target of 260. I told my friend that people have gathered, and it doesn’t matter if we win or not, but they should get entertainment. I did not open in that match because I hadn’t even carried my kit bag. So, I called for my kit bag and then went to bat at No. 3 or No. 4.”

Abhishek Sharma’s century helped his team chase down the target with 11 balls to spare and four wickets in hand.
