The stage is set for another high-voltage clash as India U19, led by Ayush Mhatre, take on Pakistan U19 in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025. The blockbuster summit clash will be played on Sunday, December 21, at the ICC Academy Ground, Dubai. Both teams come into the final with confidence after convincing semi-final wins and will be eager to lift the continental crown.

Road to the Final

India U19

India booked their place in the final after defeating Sri Lanka in a rain-reduced semi-final. The Indian bowlers delivered a disciplined performance to restrict Sri Lanka to 138 in a 20-over contest.

Despite losing openers Ayush Mhatre (7) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (9) early, India recovered strongly thanks to a match-winning partnership between Aaron George and Vihaan Malhotra.

  • Aaron George: 58 (49 balls)*
  • Vihaan Malhotra: 61 (45 balls)*
  • Partnership: 114 runs for the third wicket

Pakistan U19

Pakistan cruised into the final after beating Bangladesh in the second semi-final. After bowling Bangladesh out for 121, Pakistan chased down the target comfortably in 16.3 overs in a match reduced to 27 overs per side.

League Stage Head-to-Head

India and Pakistan faced each other once earlier in the tournament, with India registering a dominant 90-run victory.

  • India: 240 all out
    • Aaron George: 85
    • Kanishk Chouhan: 46
  • Pakistan: 150 all out
    • Kanishk Chouhan: 3 wickets
    • Deepesh Devendran: 3 wickets

That result gives India a psychological edge heading into the final.

Zimbabwe’s preparations for the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 will intensify over the festive period as they host Afghanistan and Pakistan in a Youth One-Day International tri-series in Harare.

The triangular tournament forms a crucial part of Zimbabwe’s build-up to the global event, which the country will co-host alongside Namibia from 15 January to 6 February 2026. With the World Cup being staged on home soil, the series offers valuable match exposure for Zimbabwe’s young cricketers against strong opposition.

U19 tri-series to begin on Christmas Day as Zimbabwe fine-tune World Cup preparations

Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni confirmed the series, describing it as a vital step in the team’s final preparations. “This tri-series is a key part of our final preparations for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup,” Makoni said. “Playing against strong Under-19 teams like Afghanistan and Pakistan will give our players the quality match experience they need ahead of a major global event on home soil.”

The action begins on Christmas Day (25 December), with hosts Zimbabwe taking on Afghanistan at Harare Sports Club. Afghanistan will then face Pakistan on 27 December at the same venue.

<![CDATA[From IPL heroics to U-19 domination: Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes 24-ball fifty against England]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/from-ipl-heroics-to-u-19-domination-vaibhav-suryavanshi-smashes-24-ball-fifty-against-england/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/from-ipl-heroics-to-u-19-domination-vaibhav-suryavanshi-smashes-24-ball-fifty-against-england/ Sat, 05 Jul 2025 17:05:41 GMT

Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again proved that he is one of the more exciting young talents in Indian cricket. In an exhilarating performance against England U-19, the 18-year-old batter bludgeoned a fifty off just 24 balls and toyed with the bowlers using some spectacular hitting. Completing the knock made it even more sensational—46 of his 50 runs came in boundaries—a combination of cavalier cover drives, brute force pulls, and clever shot selection all around the ground.

Suryavanshi came in at a particularly difficult time for India U-19 but immediately turned the tide with his all-out aggression. The England bowlers stood no chance against his speed and placement—with little difficulty he was able to systematically break down the spin or pace bowlers. His innings enabled India to post a gargantuan total and wrest immediate control of the match. Suryavanshi's maturity and confidence at the crease were reflective of his rapidly growing name at the junior international level.

The knock wasn't just about the numbers; it was about the intent and the statement. You could feel Suryavanshi's presence elevate the team's energy and leave supporters of Indian cricket excited about the next phase of India’s batting talent. Coaches and former cricketers watching the game hailed his composure and ability to perform on the biggest stage and in the most pressurized moments. With such a performance on the big stage, he will be a name we will be hearing about in India's U-19 setup for a long time to come.

From IPL Impressions to U-19 Showcase

Suryavanshi's prodigious displays in the Under-19 circuit are a natural offshoot of his incredible IPL 2025 season, where he burst onto the scene as a star for the Rajasthan Royals. In 13 matches, he was a standout, gathering in excess of 460 runs at a strike rate of greater than 155, no doubt delivering when the game was in the balance. His player-of-the-match innings against the competition’s leading sides turned a few heads and gave way to an Emerging Player nomination from the league.

Beyond just the statistics, what left an impression on experts during the IPL was Suryavanshi's temperament. Suryavanshi operated with calmness and couldn’t be flustered, even in high-pressure environments, executing his shots with conviction. That same demeanor was exhibited today versus England U-19. It’s clear IPL exposure gave a head start in his development, and where he is now putting a stamp on each of the levels he is playing.

With form, maturity, and fearlessness in sight, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is one of Indian cricket’s best future stars, no doubt.
